I live in the in the lower peninsula of Michigan over in the thumb area, it so happens I watched
"Escanaba in da Moonlight" just last week. What an awesome movie. It was a treat to learn
of the history of the Bittner family and the creativity of Mr. Daniels to go to such lengths to make
his story more real and believable; even though we know it is fantasy and comedy.
Those Bittner's are great and genuine Northern Michigan Yoopers, for sure, eh!

Do you know the back story? It used to be a place where single men would go because the women that were looking for a hubby would wear red sweaters. My brother's father in law's father (could you follow that? ☺️) met his wife Bunny there and brought her down to SW lower Michigan and spent the rest of their lives here. Now you know the rest of the story! 😉

I worked with a lady that shot one large buck every year. She and her husband bought some land, dug a pond, and waited like five years
Pretty soon "her" deer started getting huge and multiplying.
One time she woke up and there was a monster buck so she grabbed her rifle and shot it from the bedroom in her nightclothes and woke her husband right up out of his sleep. She hadn't planned on hunting that year except a few doe but she couldnt pass it up
She raised a bunch of Weiner dogs and is training them to sniff out antlers after they fall off.
