Must not have bobcats too open for down here in southern ohio we give up when you can see the ground 20 ft away
👍💯🇱🇷 Excellent
This looks kind of familiar! 🤯🤩😳
🤣 it should! I didn’t realize a music track was missing on my first upload!
Ohhhhh I see! 🤣
Remember, I fell asleep watching the video, so I probably didn't notice the missing music.....🎶 🤩🤣🤯
😂😂😂
I live in Battle Creek and we had a cougar in our back yard last summer. DNR claims they aren’t thus far South, but they are. A couple years ago, one was seen in our Downtown.
Kind of a bittersweet video. I love the Rocking chair video but kind of disappointing to find out they would exclude their own sons from coming to camp first week. Also, why didn’t the old timers make sure the camp never left the families. Sounds silly.
Da Jimmer
Between “Escanaba in da Moonlight” and watching Dick Proenneke’s old PBS documentary, it makes for a cozy day. Good to get some insight into the Bittner/“Soady” deer camp….. yet another reason to get back up to da U.P. for another visit! All the best from southwest-central Indiana….
You know up in the UP the UFOs does exist. We all seen a sighting last season we will never explain while gutting a buck .
Is this the Soady deer camp? The world famous Soady deer camp?
The one and only!
So loved the bird hunting segment. Where do the ladies hold there educational events?
Wolves and bear....
Merry Christmas to you too! Excellent show as always!
Awesome video 👍
Great bird hunting segment. Just as fishing is not all about catching fish, bird hunting is not all about killing birds! Terrific segment and well filmed!
Merry Christmas Kristen, and thanks for an extra interesting edition.
Merry Christmas Kristin! Thank you once again for knowledge gained through your research, and interviews {:-)
Loved it! Merry Christmas and happy new year to all!!!
Merry Christmas and thanks for taking us along with you on another adventure.
During winter of 97 predator calling in Iron Co. watched one through a 4x12 Leopold scope in the middle of a snowy field for 3-4 minutes. DNR didn't believe it and my family of hunters said I was watching the neighbor farm's golden retriever that got loose. A couple years later one was hit by a car and dna from hair on the bumper confirmed what it was. These days friends and family get them on game cams once every couple years.
im from north dakota and watched this every year since about 08, actually drove down m35 just to say i did when i was in the area. great video!
Kristin, MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your loved ones and to all your subscribers!
BEST BIRD HUNT EVER... thanks for sharing
That guy is such a moron. He has no dam clue what he's talking about the dnr dont give a crap what hunters want it's who pays them witch is the hunters but that don't matter it's a business that's why this state sucks u can go any other state and kill big bucks but our dnr don't know their head from their ass so yah if u can prove that I'm wrong then do it but until then our dnr sucks
The math doesn't work out with the numbers you gave.
Worst hunting season ever at are camp! Worse than last year! The dnr and wolves have ruined the up deer herds
What tv stations are you on? And what time? I’m down state but able to watch any station. Go PACK Go!!!!
The "Discovering" program is owned by WLUC-TV6 out of Marquette here in the U.P. so it only airs there. They allow me post the show on my own RUclips channel :) Someday though I hope to re-edit and broadcast a "Discover the U.P." show elsewhere around the state, when I find the time and advertisers!!
Thanks!will tune in next! What time?
@@MikeRoot-es7cm New episodes are live here on RUclips at 8pm every Monday night! (7:30pm on TV6)
Thanks! I’ll be watching!!
i loved smelt dipping in port huron as a child a million years ago
I know your Dad's hunted the UP, but where did they live and work? Did they grow up in Michigan?
Most all the members lived and worked in Holland Mi, Most all there families are still in the area , thanks for asking Russ Michmerhuizen Jr
I see a lot of packer fans
Yoopers who live close to the MI/WI border are more likely to be Packer fans.
the Ravens r so cool
The Eagle part is so awesome...and the deer...on all the shows, there's been some wild antlers....and I just love those kids....such excitement!!
I got word that the Eagle will be released Jan 3 in the UP! I'll be there!
@@discovertheup AWESOME! We'll get to see it!
That heavy deer was in bait????? I don’t think that’s legal in Michigan lol
It is legal to use bait in the Upper Peninsula
try again I’ve been fined for it in the lower it’s state wide
@@dylanvance4977 It is illegal to bait in the lower peninsula. There are different regulations in the upper and lower. Read page 56 of the Michigan Deer Hunting Regulations: www.michigan.gov/dnr/-/media/Project/Websites/dnr/Documents/LED/digests/deer_regs_summary.pdf?rev=5ee29d84d89742be89deecdda6f1e924&hash=1EE65FAA54CD5272C870007BC3A7BB06
Beth Madda will be a skyrocket to heaven for all she has done for our national symbol! Awesome coverage of the Buck harvest as well Kristin, thank you my dear ❤
"Education not legislation" Excellent concept. I made the switch to copper this year. Accuracy is very good in my rifle, your mileage may vary. Yes, it is expensive but, ultimately, I don't buy much of it. I can still use lead at the range.
You should write a small caption on the back of each deer mount .
I've missed this intro song! Im glad you brought it back.
Hi Kristin. Thank you for another informative and entertaining vlog. I loved the reporting of the deer harvest for the past three years throughout the U.P. It puts things into perspective in a neat package. Thanks again for the quality programming and your time and effort!
Thanks! I was hoping my little numbers report wasn't boring! I like looking at data like that and comparing numbers!
@@discovertheup Not boring at all, quite helpful and useful! Thank you again😀
Excellent 👍 💯 🇱🇷
Awesome ..these guys r incredible ...so cool they remember these great stories.thank u guys for sharing.
Saw 0 deer in the UP. Nice job introducing the wolves. At least the liberals in Royal Oak that never go out in the woods are happy 🤣
I live in the in the lower peninsula of Michigan over in the thumb area, it so happens I watched "Escanaba in da Moonlight" just last week. What an awesome movie. It was a treat to learn of the history of the Bittner family and the creativity of Mr. Daniels to go to such lengths to make his story more real and believable; even though we know it is fantasy and comedy. Those Bittner's are great and genuine Northern Michigan Yoopers, for sure, eh!
Ferds bay
Great times great tradition very nostalgic
Great video great story great deer 🦌🏕
I think the troubles and hardships of getting to and staying at a rugged camp was half the fun. Things are just too easy today with modern convenience.
Awesome.been following these guys forever
You sell any running dogs?
He does not sell any. I asked!
@ thanks for the response
Michigan Deer Camps are where it's at ! 👍🏼
I couldn't agree more!
I should have kept more than the one Trophy Rack my Grandfather Harvested in the Channing area. There were some big ones in the 30's 40's and 1950's ect. My Great Grandfather died of a Heart attack in the Woods, They stayed in a Big Tent, My G Grandfather was 63 years old .. Worked every day Farming so he is fit. They kept him Frozen in the Tent until the end of Hunting Season then brought him back to Vicksburg MI for Burial .
Wow. What a story! So young. But he was in a good place doing something he loved. That's the way I want to go when it's time.
@@discovertheup My Grandfather smoked and Drank for years and still almost made it to age 87.. He had to quit smoking in is early 60's due to Emphysema and quit drinking not long after that. He rode a peddle bike in the summer and a stationary bike in the Winter.
Classic!
