Mine comes today, looking forward to it! Switching to the Apple ecosystem in general from years of Windows and Android problems. So far it's been way nicer.
TIP: I use my old 3rd Gen Apple TV as an Apple Music AirPlay device. It's hooked up via toslink to my integrated amp outputting to proper floor standing speakers.
@@hey-patrick I control the volume from my iPhone, iPad, Mac. I don't have a Siri remote paired to the Apple TV 3 but if I did I would imagine volume control would be possible.
The "miss" with the apple account set up thing is that there isn't a way to map the Apple TV accounts with the individual app accounts (like Netflix, Amazon, RUclips, etc). It would be nice if by connecting to my Apple TV account, somehow that info could be passed to those apps so when I launch them they would know who is logged in.
How do i save my movies on my hard drive of the apple tv ? It use to let me when I first got my 4 but its not letting me anymore that's why i got the 64g version to save my fav movies on the tv it self.
I don’t have Apple TV (yet). If my Firestick keeps being stupid, I might be! Some great features. I like the colour balance and the ‘what did they say?’ Features. Will this pair with my Studio speakers?
Hi Craig, nice video. Here is a feature I always like, when entering in a password just hold down on the select button and the letter will be capitalized (great for case sensitivity). Also, if you hold down on the delete button with the select key the entire line will be deleted.
It suddenly forced me to sign in on my Roku TV when nothing had changed. It never used to require a sign-in. Prime doesn't require it after the 1st time. I'm not signing in on my own TV with that miserable password spelled via a remote's D-pad. Nope, cancelled.
Thanks for all I learnt, my new Apple TV was a big difference from my 3rd generation. The biggest recommendation I can make is to slow down the touchpad. Made my experience so much better.
When I do the ‘What did they say’ feature I cant get the subtitles to turn off without manually doing so. Unless I’m just not waiting long enough. I also really agree with you. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get into Ted Lasso, but I absolutely loved it and I’m really hoping that the second season is just as good or better!
Of all the wonderful things the new remote can do, I don’t think there is a way to tell it how to turn on/off my non-CEC television. Would have been a nice addition to “Learn remote”.
Oh my gosh. You are a lifesaver!! I didn’t even know the “what did they say” feature even existed. Here I’ve been using the Apple TV all this time backing up the old fashioned way when there was a much more elegant solution. Ugh! Thank you thank you thank you. 🙏 You just made not only my life better, but my spouse and mom’s better too!
You are welcome. Glad to help. I am with you and used the skip back to try and listen. It was a game changer for me too. I am glad your family is benefiting from it to. Thank you for watching.
A bonus reason I got an Apple TV is because it enabled remote access and Siri control of addition smart home features. Specifically my Wemo lights switches/outlets. Because they’re the older versions I also required a Wemo hub. Nice to be able to control my lights outside the house without pulling out my phone.
HELP... I have an Apple HD TV with the NEW 2021 Remote. I can not find a way to completely have the remote turn off my Samsung Series 7 TV. When I hit the power button it put the Apple TV box in sleep mode and then it acts like it is powering off the TV, but within 10 seconds the TV comes back on. Then I have to use the TV remote to turn it off. I am trying to just use the Apple Remote. Do you have any ideals.
Two issues I'm having on Apple TV 4K: 1) Video doesn't start from where I left last time on VLC Player. 2) Screen mirroring from MacBook Pro to Apple TV lags at times. Do you suggest any solutions to these issues?
Question how do you connect your ring doorbell to your Apple TV. With HomeKit like when your watching something and someone is at the door a pop up comes on the screen with video
I control the volume of my basic Onkyo receiver. The Apple TV turns on my receiver to power up everything in one room. In another the TV power and volume is controlled on my basic LG TV
I'm using an Apple TV 4K 2021 model and I couldn't see any 4k @ 120 hz option in the video and audio settings even though I'm using a certified HDMI 2.1 cable. Does Apple TV does not support 120 hz yet or is there any other tweaks that I should do to get the 120 hz option.FYI- my Tv supports a frame rate of 144hz.
Might not be worth the cost of the cable with it being a newer standard. Personally I would buy an Amazon basics 2.0. When you get a tv with 2.1, cable cost will go down and you can move the current tv with the 2.0 cable.
I actually prefer Roku for the ‘what did they say’ feature… just click the ‘back’ button and it jumps back with subtitles. One click, that’s it. I like how connected and fast and easy the Apple TV is, but I think I still prefer my Roku Pro… I’ll have to keep learning about the Apple TV tho.
Actually you can drag and drop apps into folders. I have been doing that. Just drag an app on top of another one to create a folder or drop it into an existing one. I haven't figured out how to rename one
Remote tip: The "little tv button" activates the appleTV app by default, but in the settings you can actually change it to go to home screen instead of apple tv, so now you don't have to long press the "back" button. I find it very cool since sometimes I'd want to see maybe a Marvel movie and then go back to home screen and RUclips to get a breakdown. Some people might find it useless, but for others they don't like to hold down the button. Either way, cool feature.
Great video Craig! I may yet get an Apple TV. I subscribe to damn near every service, so why not add another one. Lol just a side note, why does it not surprise me that you have a GRAY Mini Cooper... 😏
Can I ask for a bit more help getting my new Apple TV 4k going pls? I have an Amazon Prime Video a/c and watch it on our Firesticks. I see a Video (Polar Storm) on the Apple tv and press Open In / Open In Prime Video app. Instead of it playing, I get a “How do I watch this” then “To watch this title, get an add-on subscription from the Amazon website on your mobile device or computer” - how do I do that pls?
@@CraigsTechTalk But I already have a subscription, do I need another one for the TV? I didn’t see that option on the Amazon site. I will look again. Very exciting - just turned on our first device fromSiri on my Apple Watch 😊
Very cool using the watch. My guess is that what you are asking for is not a prime video movie. But rather an add on service. Such as amc+, hbo max, starz or one of the others. Amazon sells the services through Prime Video. That would be why it is telling you to purchase the service through the app or Amazon’s webpage. You can find the same services available through Apple TV+.
Do you prefer apple or fire tv better? Everything in my home is echo powered so I love having everything connected but Apple TV just seems much cleaner, sleeker and a much better interface.
The Apple TV is way better. But if you’re already in the Alexa ecosystem, the fire tv can be very convenient. However, if you have an iPhone and Apple Watch, I would say it’s still worth getting the Apple TV. I’m still in the Alexa ecosystem in my home (echos everywhere, ring, Kasa smart products, Phillips hue lights) and I do not miss my old fire tv. The $200 price for the Apple TV is worth every penny.
I have Apple TV but I have sound bars and I can’t hear nothing out of the sound bars they are one is a roku sound one is a onn roku sound bar but no sound

Does it work on tv? I can get the “what did they say” to work on Netflix and HBO movies, for example, but not on RUclips tv, even if prerecorded. If I say “reverse 15 seconds” it backs up tho … guess I will just have to remember .

Do you have a video showing how you created this routine in the Apple Shortcuts app? I've tried to replicate your steps, but cannot figure out how to specify which Apple TV, or user account. I found your other video where you talk about the NFC sticker and that doesn't go into any detail. If there's a source for this information, I would appreciate it if you would point me to it.
I figured out the problem. I created my shortcut not at home, so when I would touch those linked areas, nothing would happen. When I did this at home, those links would populate with my Apple TV names, user accounts, etc.
I love the Up Next feature but because I add all movies and shows I want to watch in the future the list becomes way too cumbersome to sort through and find certain items depending on the type of entertainment I feel like watching at the time. I really wish that they would add FOLDERS to Up Next so we could separate them into categories like; purchased movies, currently watching, comedy, sci-fi ect…

Now, next question: I have a humdinger of a 5.1 surround system I brought over from the UK - a Denon receiver and B&W Front, Center and Rear speakers. How would you recommend hooking them up? Is it even possible to get 5.1 (or something) from a stream? I have only ever played 5.1 DVDs.
Glad to hear you got it figured and it is looking good with color balance. The way mine is hooked up is the out of the Apple TV goes to my receiver along with any other sources. Then from my receiver an HDMI goes to the TV. Most surround systems have an HDMI pass through for video and the sound is covered by the surround system.
Both. Run colour balance while set to SDR picture and then set your default output to HDR (I’m assuming you’re using Dolby Vision if the colour balance is greyed out), make sure you have the setting enabled to adjust picture according to content and then whenever you are watching content only available in SDR it will use the balanced colour profile for a more accurate image while Dolby Vision is already accurate due to the way it works.
