  • Just as the title says, this is how to use a python water changer. I go step by step an how t remove and add water. No spills and no more buckets. I highly recommend a python if you have multiple fish tanks.

My dad passed in Nov, and we have 8 tanks. He never taught me how to use the Python, so I'm grateful for this video! Thank you for the video! I got sick of using buckets 😅

When draining tank I turn the water off as soon as the suction is working. It will continue to drain, maybe not as fast but it still works.

The lady at Petco said I could use this for my pond. The only problem is I have an outdoor spigot with hose, and even if I could reach all the way to the kitchen, I don’t have that kind of faucet. Another thing is the gravity is not going down, with the pond, rocks, being below the ground.

I just got this system, but am I the only one who's 🤢 about the idea of all that biowaste / possiblly even parasites splashing all into the bottom of the kitchen sink which is a human food area? My bathroom sink doesn't have rivets inside or outside of faucet. Also, I don't know how old the plumbing is here and should I be concerned about how to ensure this thing isn't backing up at all into my water system?

I dont know how you make it look so easy, Mine is just like a water sprinkler, leaks everywhere, it is so cumbersome to use. Ok on the draining but its water everywhere when trying to refill. An £80 waste of money.

You don't need the water running once you get suction going.

I'm a new aquarist. Got this system home and it was soo easy, actually made it a joy to change the water!

Love that you made this video. Years ago, when I got my first water changing system, I didn't use it to siphon b/c I didn't 'get' that the faucet started the siphon. It was handy for refilling, but I used a garden hose to siphon outside. Wish I'd seen a video like this one back then😎

Oh man do I remember the bucket bagrade and how I don’t miss it been using a python for many years now and it’s by far the best fish investment I have made especially with 18 tanks

What several others said about getting the suction started then letting it gravity drain. I got a 50 foot python at tank 8 or so. I’m running 25 today. Another huge time and worry saver is to purchase a hard plastic screw/grate to cover the end. While vacuuming and draining it prevent the smallest fry or adult fish being sucked in. Lee’s makes their own version of Python as do several other companies. Lee’s also makes the end cover which fits perfectly. Cost $7 or so. I just used mine for the ten fresh water tanks in this room. Great vid Ron!

The Python is so simple but a game changer when it comes to how you do water changes.
