Thomas, your enthusiasm makes me want to get back into reefing.
You're already watching this... just admit defeat and jump in, the water is warm 😁😉
@@Slide-Loc I think salt creep has impacted your decision making abilities. There should be a 12 step program for reefers. Full disclosure, I still have a nano reef going but it's a far cry from my 180g!
Hahahaha, 12 step is right lol.
One of those things that hasn't really changed since the 90s. That shows how great of a design it really is. Anyone who's worked at a fish store has likely spent hours using one.
First video I’ve watch with Thomas in it. You made me chuckle a couple time just with your enthusiasm and remarks. Great addition to the BRSTV group!
Ok, I'm sold. I like him. At first I was upset it wasnt Randy or Ryan but good job on making something boring able to be attractive to older reefers.
This is a must have. I learned the hardway of using buckets and pumps
Nobody:
Thomas: I've had 14 coffees!!! Let's make a video!!!
Just playing Thomas! Great information. Thanks!
This thing changed the hobby for me. My fish room is 70 feet away from my faucet and this thing works like a charm. Water changes are so simple
Love how funny he is, makes watching all these videos even better😂
Man this guy cracks me up, love when he does the videos! Funny and informative
I love my python! As someone that suffers from chronic back pain, this was a game changer for me. I couldn't be in the hobby without it
I just got mine. Same problem I have back problems. I think I made a good investment here.
just a couple of notes on this, when emptying water from your tank you can turn the faucet water off, (if your not too concerned about your corals) once the flow starts that way you don't waste water. i have a 50 ft hose so it's pretty long, so I also make sure I don't take the gravel tube out of the water once the flow starts or it won't work, the suction stops and you can't restart by just placing the gravel tube back in the water. you can start suction again once you remove all water in the tube and turn the faucet water back on. i always empty any water left over in the tube so I don't have problems next time i do a water change.
Ok...I didn't understand all you wrote sorry
very useful info , thank you. i almost didnt want the product because i thought the water faucet must be turned on the whole time. Would be waste of a lot of water...and increase bills@@Chandy84
Thanks Thomas! I've been using a return pump for saltwater fill for about a year. So easy I actually do water changes on time now
Very entertaining presentation 👏
Well done BRS for signing Thomas up 👍
Awesome, never knew you could fill with these things. Thanks for highlighting the additional attachments.
You bet!
Some much needed energy to the channel. Nice !
Awesome video Thomas!! I've had the python for my freshwater for a while and always wondered how I could use it for my salt tanks!!! ❤
I busted a lung laughing, you are refreshing to watch, really, I love it
Haha I love this guys way of explaining how this product works! Super funny and entertaining! You sir. . Are HILARIOUS! Bravo!!
I use a Python for my water changes and gravel vaccing. BUT I use quick connect brass pieces for all the joints, that way when I am done I can reel up the hose as I drain the water from it. The Python mesh hose holder has velcro that holds really well, so all my hose and sink adapter are always in place. The only part hung separate is my filling hook, which I hang on the wash cloth rack until I am ready to fill. Quick change out between tube and hook is a breeze.
I have a this and after watching this video, I wanna go buy another one because of Thomas. Keep it up my dude.
I love your presentations so much energy, Is BRS letting you snort that salt? LOL
Thomas you really make the videos more enjoyable :) and with the python I have been wondering how you can do straight from your new salt water, now I know :) thnx
I think one can stop the tap once the suction is established because it should just keep pulling water through assuming your tank is above drain level and it would work no worries....
Absolutely correct! Some reefers here in the office opt to continually run the faucet to help speed up the suction process and lessen the length of time corals might be exposed to air.
@@BRStv Some corals also like that. Many SPS corals do get exposed every time the tide goes out on the great barrier reef and they create a mucus layer on themselves for protect the polyps from dehydration by the hot australian sun.
Thomas. I have been looking for your videos since your last ones with the Hurricane. Hope you manged to get the studio done I finally stables upon them. Keep on tanking!!
Thomas you're a legend
I use the python no spill, it is the best and the easiest to use.
Deja vu. Isn't this the same guy as the older video lol?
Great video! Except the part where you used an Aqueon water changer on the sump! 😎
Thomas, put something living in that beautiful tank behind you! :)
I think so too!
Wow u my fella could sell snow to eskimos but just stay of the red bull brilliant vid
Haha quite the compliment! And I was drinking MONSTER during the filming of this vid. The Red Bulls had run out... lol
Merci pour ta vidéo !!! 👍👍👍
Great info.
Thanks for watching!
Use it love it just kinda wish I as much fun with my chores as big T describes the python
Would the pressure burst a connection if you blocked the flow from the pump using a ball valve?
Hi Thomas, your reviews are great, not time consuming, and fun. Even if its about a HOSE! :)
I have a bone to pick with you...
Your MINT condition Kessil, yes the one behind you. Its been there for over a month! Please send it to me and I'll show you it's purpose and how to use it. :)
Hahahahaha I will be doing some fun things with the tank soon!!!
Wow, that does seem spectacular and super useful! too bad I cant find it in Portugal :c
OMG this guy is great lol
Do you have a link to the retractable hose that you use with the python?
Wouldn’t the brass fitting on the python hose make it a bad choice for filling the tank?
God I love your presentations here. Your personality makes me want to buy the things even tho I don't need them! I really, really enjoy watching, and I highly value and respect your opinions. Thanks! Peace
Thanks so much :D
Thanks Thomas, love your vidoes! If using a return pump to fill the tank, could that also be used to mix the salt, or would a powerhead still be needed?
No, you could definitely use a return pump to mix your saltwater as well.
Ok, what do you do if you don't have suction? None of my faucets seem to have enough pressure for this thing to suck at all.. and it's the 2nd brand I'm trying
The design of the python does rely on your water pressure to create suction, so if you're noticing the same issue with multiple brands, you might be best off finding a different solution like using a small pump to pump the water from the tank to your drain. In a lot of cases, an inexpensive utility pump like the maxi jet 1200 attached to some tubing works great for this.
What about if I want to buy with a longer gravel tube like size 24" , it's possible to get it like that or I need to buy as it comes with 12" tube and buy the 24" tube separately????
The Python system comes with a gravel vac tube, but if you need a longer one, they offer those separately too
www.bulkreefsupply.com/no-spill-clean-fill-replacement-gravel-tubes-python.html
Love it but it will not work Moen faucet
They should just keep the video going on Thomas for about 30 minutes when he is done talking to see what comes out next. :)
Do I need to buy another attachment to fill the tank?
I really seem to struggle with pulling water out … is not pulling with pressure… what can be wrong ?
So this won’t work if the brass piece doesn’t fit your sink faucet? My faucet doesn’t have the screw on lines for the brass to attach to jt
We have a variety of different faucet adapters available if the "stock" version doesn't fit your sink.

I love my python and so does the wife
😂😂😂😂
In previous videos made by Thomas, he said that the snap connector can be used to interchange between python accessories. Does BRS still recommend that so treads don't deteriorate and the snap changing can be quick and easy?
We do use the snap connector here at the BRS office. The Python already makes water changes easier, but the snap connector makes them even quicker.
Does ut still work if the pipe is lying on the fllor on the way to the sink?
Yep! The suction from the water running at the faucet will still pull the water up the hose
question. I normally measure how many 5 gallon buckets I take out that way I don't accede how much water I have mixed already to replace. with this how I will count howe much water I trow away. Anyone can give me ideas please
how much water is wasted by running the tap during suction? does it have to be on fully?
How much extra water is used will depend on a number of factors like tubing length and height of the tank/faucet. We do recommend that it's on all the way as this creates the most suction and gets the water change done more quickly.
curious. as a newbie to saltwater reef tanks can't you just use the utility pump to pump water out of fish tank into sink. then use utility to pump new water in?
This is a valid way to do it too. Depending on how much water you're moving, I like the maxijet 1200 with some tubing attached to the output.
www.bulkreefsupply.com/maxi-jet-powerhead-1200.html
How you know that how many galons you sucked up from the tank, when you spill it directly to the drain ???
It's good, but not for saltwater, you still need a bucket to mix the salt
Can't get the python to suck water. Any tips? Maybe not enough pressure
The more water pressure you have, the more suction will be created. If you haven't already, we usually like to turn on the hot/cold water at the same time for maximum suction.
Looks great but we Aussies are always in drought and I can't stomach the waste of the tap water.
you don't have to keep the water running after the siphon starts, you can turn it off. it will keep siphoning as long as you don't break the connection
@@randayho I thought this too but he states in the video that the water needs to keep running to create a suction.
I feel like if you clean your gravel with this it would clog up your drain?
You shouldn't really get anything larger than the mulm from under your sand or gravel bed, and if you do get anything larger, it will clog the T-Pump before it actually gets to the drain in my experience. :)
After you got water being sucked out of the tank, can't you just turn off the faucet and keep a syphon from tank to sink??
In cases where the water level in the tank is higher than the faucet output or tip of the draining end of the hose, you sure can.
Threaded fitting part? Where do I find it please.
Never mind just picked up the Sicce pump as well so it will just screw on to the pump.
These are all the extra fittings you might need. :) www.bulkreefsupply.com/no-spill-clean-and-fill-replacment-parts-python.html
If you already have a siphon you can get everything needed at the hardware store usually in the garden area for most all of it.
How do you go about treating your water?
Most reefers will use RODI systems to filter their tap water before mixing with a salt mix 🙂
So, no one is having a hard time getting that python on the sicce 2.0 connector? I'm having a real tough time here.
What sicce pump is best for
This
This one is a pretty neat option and the threaded fittings line up perfectly with the Python! www.bulkreefsupply.com/ultra-zero-utility-pump-sicce.html
Bulk Reef Supply ok that’s a bit pricey can you recomend something In the 400-600 gph area
So I have to leave the water on to syphon the tank?
In most cases, yes. Which is why some aquarists use a siphon tube to a bucket or trash can...or even a pump attached to a tube to draw the water out.
Thank you for respond
The only Question remaining is how do i know how much water i drained.
I just drain into my marked brute because its always the same amount then pump from my mixing station to tank if i didnt make enough saltwater then i just put some in a gallon bucket from my drained water back into the tank. Its usually only a half gallon difference.
The only thing I’m not following is how you measure how much water you take out using this? Seems you have to eyeball it which I don’t like at all. What I currently do is syphon to a marked bucket so I know I’m taking exactly 5 gallons out and replacing exactly 5 gallons back in. Getting the exact 5 gallons back in to the tank using this is simple because it would simply drain the entire 5 gallon bucket of new water and you’d know when it’s done, but I’m not understanding how you measure it coming out.
There is no built-in measuring device on the Python. Most reefers will siphon down to a specific point on tank (I like to make a very small mark on the back of the tank to reference) so that you're draining the same amount each time. If you take the time to measure how many gallons it is the first time, it makes every change after that super easy.
Waterbed filler/drain.
Ive never understood how this hasnt migrated from the freshwater side of things yet. I have never carried a bucket
Seems like a lot of work to get a suction going. Nothing wrong with starting the siphon using your mouth with a regular gravel hose at a fraction of the price. Neat product just honestly surprised there is a demand for it.
its really not a lot of work, you screw the adapter into your faucet, run the end of the hose to your tank and turn the water on and wait.
@@randayho that vs. Just suck on the hose for a second? =) we all know how it goes in this hobby the easier it is the more often we are to do it!
Really expensive way to do this, not for me, I have a easier solution
And that is?
Thats kind of a waste of water though. One reason I'm looking for another way. I would like it to refill the tank though
That is true, there is some waste water involved with the Python hooked up to a sink.
almost too enthusiastic I like Ryan and Randy's take on the videos seem more laid back. Thanks for the info but slow down ;)
Damned you Bernoulli, leave me alone FFS.
And how are you able to see how much you drained from the tank?😂 This is definitely not going to work for allot of reefer, including me!
All it takes is draining the tank/sump one time and marking the water level so you always know where to drain down to! ;)
@@ThomasBReef my system is pretty complicated maby also. But I have 2 identical buckets, need to fill till the mark before i can add the new water🙃 check my Instagram and you will understand😂 keep coming that good content vids! Greetings from Holland!
This only works if you have a sink and faucet nearby. The faucet in my fish room is reserved for my RO unit. Also the python version of this with the squeeze starter is worthless. Don’t waste your money!
Ron, you could easily do what I did in the video and hook the RODI up to the faucet adapter that has a valve that tees off from the aerator so you can easily switch between the two, or just use a saddle valve and hook the RODI directly into your cold water line :)
always been a useless product for me, since i've never had a sink or known anyone that has a sink that supports the brass adapter lol.
Woah speak for yourself! I don't do water changes!
First view and comment!
What a shocking waste of water. The hobby is already heavy on water usage. Is it really necessary to pour more water than necessary down the drain?
For many who have their tanks typically higher than the drain of the sink, you could simply use the faucet to start a siphon then shut it off and let the water flow naturally.
Too much talking
