??????? Awesome Ron! Will that Cipher from the other one fit on the end of the new hose so you can clean the poop out the gravel at the same time or do you have an under gravel cleaner????? This was great information because I have a 75gal that houses 7inch Oscars and 8 inch Dempseys that get pretty dirty in the gravel and we been using your old method for years. My 55gal community tank don’t get as dirty but this would be a great way to get that water out and back in of both. Please let me know if that fit so I don’t have to send anything back once I order it. Thanks and welcome to the fish parenting family🤣.
So…The pump is actually in the tank when emptying so this is really only for water changes. I still use the Python gravel cleaner to clean the gravel which is a totally separate process. I guess that’s where the total Python no spill system will shine because you can do it all in one step but…you are really only cleaning the gravel every month or every other month depending on your bio load but water changes are done weekly or every other week depending on your nitrate levels. For me, it’s about speeding up the process. I can take my time when I’m doing gravel cleaning because I can quickly stop the siphon by squeezing the hose and really get the gravel and other surfaces clean without dumping out too much water. In other words, it’s the best of both worlds to me. 💪🏾
Or you could use your 550 g per hour pump and 1/2" diameter clear hose to do gravel vac and or sand cleaning as it goes slower and you have time to do maintenance in your tank every month or 2 months when you need to,right, that way your older system is not wasted, thats what I and other older fish tank owners do up here in northern ontario and beautiful long wintery days in Canada...Thanks for the info on the new system,Im passing it on and sharing your videos to other old tank lovers here in canada...be safe and have a good time chilling with your fish as we all need stress reducing time outs in the hard times were all going through these past few years with covid and the economy not so good for everybody all over the world.... @@rontalley

Great video i just got a 55 gallon aquarium after many years away from the hobby and so much has changed i almost went with the python or hyger and i think this pump is better and does not waste water. Great job thanks
Your efficiency is showcased in this video too. You covered a lot of practical information & details in 10 minutes. I appreciate not being having to listen to bad jokes & superfluous, irrelevant blabber blabber like a lot of folks upload. Thanks man!
Good stuff. I was just shopping around for a water change system for my first tank, heard Python was good, checked price, uh huh.... Saw Hygger was a cheaper alternative of the same thing. Price was a little steep still for what is just a length of tubing and some plastic fittings. Watched comparison video on the two. Happened to scroll down in the comments and saw someone recommended this method. Then I found your video. Thank you! This method is much faster and comes in around the same price total as the Hygger version.
Great video! I do something similar, but I've added an Alexa-compatible plug and named it "water." Now, I just say, "Alexa, turn on water" when I want the pump on and "Alexa, turn off water" when I want the pump off. Works great.
Got me an ATO/AWC. Little creative plumbing and I still have to vacuum to get rid of settled detritus, but man I can't recommend it enough to any fish keeper. No messing with water, no spilling and it never gets forgotten or put off. Rock solid stability!
Thank you for this video! I having such a hard time, my sink is pretty level with my tank so the python wouldnt create a strong enough suction to siphon the water, and I really didnt want to make a mess with buckets. This is perfect!!
Great video. I have used the same temperature probes. They work well for a couple years,, but gradually they get worse. After about 2 years, mine were reading about 5 degrees off. Even with a battery change, they don't improve. But they are cheap and you can replace them inexpensively.
I've been using this type of setup for years. It's great to not have to carry buckets AND...so many faucets are not compatible with Pythons...and it's too much of a hassle to change the faucets just to fit them. Listen to this man, y'all.

Thank you so much for your change of water tank video went to amazon and bought everything im not lazy but it sure as heck beats going back and forth with buckets of water and im a small gal 😅
I have a hose that hooks directly to my faucet that I fill up, put one end in the tank and the other out my patio door to the backyard, use the siphon method for cleaning gravel etc, then hook back up to sink to fill. 20 gal tank, maybe 10 mins start to finish
Also bought the cheaper hose and a pump too small the first time. The hose kinking up is very frustrating and I know it is slowing it down a lot. Going to upgrade soon. I suggest filling the bath tub if you have one and running the pump there to fill the tank.
This is a really cool process. What would your recommendation be if the tank needed to be ph balanced too? Would you add the chemicals after the change or during the same step as the prime?
Excellent video. Not sure I can use it for my reef tank, however, because of the need for strict water parameters (have to use RODI water) so I can't take it straight from the tap. Otherwise, I love the info about the tubing you found.
i think it would be a similar process , just i've seen it done in a garbage can instead of a bucket in the sink. the garbage can being full of the water you've already prepped. I just dont have a place in my house where i'd want to have a garbage can full of prepped water, is the problem

Hello Ron love how you come up with bright idea's sooo fast this is cool, but I love using the Phython clean and fill it's only two steps too it and that's hook it up and turn on the water, it's fast and you can clean the bottom of the tank while removing the water trust me it removes the water quicker than you think imjs maybe in due time you'll try it, anyway what you did is good 👍
Main things for me was first being able to hook it to that fancy faucet and second, making sure the water temperature is correct before refilling. Also, kinda scared of sucking up fish as we have a lot of nano fish. Finally this method waste less water. I still use the Python siphon for cleaning the gravel.
What's the trick to work from tank to tank while filling? Even with the python, the water pressure builds up too quickly and either pops the siphon on the sink or the hose off of the pump. The sink isn't close enough to run to prevent overflow! Any suggestions?
