- Two Halberd plays from Joachim Meyers book about the knightly art of swordsmanship - 1570 A.D. The plays can be found on page 38recto (XXXVIII) in the last chapter of the original book found here:

PS: Obviously NOT exclusive for formation fighting. Meyers manuscript shows mostly techniques for a duel! But you can use many of the concepts also for formation battles like thrusting or striking in a tighter way.

I'm not quite sure what you life consists of but i'm pretty sure a tutorial about the use of an haleberd is not gonna prepare you for a reallife Situation.

I feel that their weapon are too light. A real weapon with metallic head won’t allow such moves,
I doubt it, the metal ones couldn't be too heavy either otherwise they'd be innefective at parrying, etc. And if he is practicing and showing techniques his replica weapon probably has realistic weight
These training weapons are aprox. 200g lighter than my metal replic...the difference is minimal. Also especially these moves (thrusting/changing through) are not really influenced by weight of the weapon.

These are plays from a period manual. They didn't have plastic trainers back then and it was written to prepare for actual combat with sharps. Additionally if these weapons had been too heavy to use effectively they wouldn't have stayed in use for hundreds of years, as battlefield weapons and beyond that as guards' weapons (in fact the Pontifical Swiss Guard still has halberds to this day)
In this video, you can see why women don't belong in combat against men! She barely gets the polearm moving while for the man it's like a tooth pick XD

Demo only, he's instructing us what to do and is not a sparring session.
Also, weapons closes the strength gap between them, so even if he's physically stronger, skill and technique are overall still superior
@@ElkaPME Sry, but you are wrong! Projectile weapons can close the skill gab if no body armor is present! In any kind of close combat, a trained man wins the majority of matches against an equally trained woman! That's not my opinion that's just facts of life! By the way, I don't see why there is this hype to technically ly to women that they are as strong as men. Women have the most beautiful and goodly power of growing life with their bodies! Man is just there to fertilize an ag and after that we are expandable!
