I'm one of those players who has bought this game a few days back and going through your guides. You have done a fantastic job. Currently I'm earning around 3,500 and sitting on 2.9 million in the old world. Thank You Taka 😊
Not sure if this was mentioned, but I figured I would give two more tips: The computer will supply materials to production buildings first if they are already on their way to the warehouse. For example if you have a clay pit and put two brick makers on the same road to the warehouse. They will supply the brick makers first if they are closer than the warehouse. This can help alleviate some bottlenecks at the warehouses as you will only have to deal with the final product. In this case bricks instead of clay and bricks at the same time. If the production buildings already have a surplus then it will go to the warehouse anyway. When you have the opportunity make brick roads. Other than looking nicer they also extend the reach of services and make warehouse relays faster. So having some brick roads leading to the fire station for example will extent it's range making it easier to have more houses protected from fire. Thanks Taka for your videos! After playing Anno 1800 and getting really lost, it's always nice to know that there is usually a Taka video that explains some convoluted mechanic that's poorly explained in game. (*cough cough* export trading in docklands)
Even as a "veteran" player. This video was imensely helpful for me to jump back into this amazing game and not take hours to get to Artisans and Engineers.
Hi, also new player here from the steam sale over christmas! So ive restarted several times to see if i could do it on my own, alas i am one of those "builds needless rubbish" people because i get a bit carried away. This guide has helped massively so thank you!
Just bought this game off from winter sales and mannnn it is sooo good. I've been eyeing on this game since its launch because I did not have a PC. Thank you for the guides Taka, they've been very helpful!
Ive got over 400 hours in the game, but still watch these videos to see I’ve there is something new to learn. And also to let you know what great content you make Taka! Keep it up and have a happy new year
I had at least a thousand on BF4 back in the day and now I'm falling into the Anno 1800 trap. Imagine if I'd spent that time learning to play classical guitar, or learn another language? :-)
Just got Anno for Christmas - been using your Ultimate guide to help me work/learn my way through (ready for artisans) - it's great! I may restart and try this. Happy New Year Taka.
Loved the video! Exceptional as a no nonsense, "just get through it" guide. One thing I do differently is I build about 4-6 Lumberjack/sawmill combos on my main OW island and then about 8 of those setup in the Cape. The reasoning is, I tend to play on normal speed - expert, they don't cost resources other than tiny amounts of coins and its usable as soon as its produced, no transit buffer involved. This does two things: Allows you to fly through the initial phases and if you are heading to the Cape, NW or Arctic and you now have about 14 sawmills churning out massive wood which is the most used building material in the game I also do this with all resources up to windows to boost building speed - feeding them all into whatever island i'm slamming down at Mach speed. Once I get past the Cape and Manola boom they can be deleted but by that point you are rich and have better things to worry about. Also just a word of suggestion, the game is easier when you have time to think and solve issues and there are 4 speed settings. Go slow, we all did at one point. Happy Building!
Best videos for this game I've seen. Just bought the game with the 2023 Winter Sale on Steam and I'm sorry i didn't see this game years ago when it came out. It's the kind of game I really like being a seasoned SimCity player. Thanks for the best video instructions for this game. Appreciate all the hard work and that you've updated them recently due to more recent downloads. I especially like the tips to use custom rather than using the defaults.
I've played Anno 1800 on and off over the years but struggled past artisans after hours on farmers and workers, doing the loop you talk about at the end :) Great video, I will try again not get dragged into that loop....
I thought that I had a good start figured out, but it turns out I missed a couple of things. I found this guide informal and most helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Wow, thanks! I was becoming a bankrupt all the time at the stage of workers. this game has no tutorial and I was so annoyed about failing every new game or campaign, ready to stop playing. Now the early stages make more sense
I’ve played the game for about 10 hours so far and have only just got artisans 🤣 I’ve never played an anno game before so have no clue what I’m doing and have had two failed starts. Will listen closely to this!
As a player who is not good at these types of games, your video was so well done! You explained everything perfectly and I loved how you showed the build with the amount of buildings I needed. Thank you so much!
Short and sweet intro for the beginning parts of the game. Becouse of how mutch trouble it can cause i think u should have included the problem with building the steel beams chain even if just a short mention as it is a part of the worker phase and it can wreck even a well build and stable economy if u try building it to soon.
Wow great guide. I managed to survive and thought I did pretty well as a beginner without watching videos. Im earning about a mil, but the AI Beryl is expanding faster than I am, so now I'm watching your videos to learn lol.
I just started playing this game and I wish I would have known about it sooner. I love this game and your video helped me out tremendously. So, thank you for making this!
I have never played any Anno game before and only saw very little of it on RUclips. I did hear a lot positive about it. So a day ago I decided to basically blind buy it. Last time I blind bought a game ( ProjectZomboid ) it went really well and I got almost 300 hours on that so I feel good about blind buys and that has not changed now. Anno is such an amazing game I am mad I haven't played it earlier. I obviously made the mistake of overexpanding. I built way too much, way too quick so I am struggeling hard but I am working on fixing it. I also settled on another island and that island is doing really good thanks to my new knowledge. I got over 14 hours by now ( No, I am no jobless scrub I am on holiday ). :D
I watched a full playthrough of this game a few years ago, and it's been on my radar since. I'm more of an Elden Ring/ BG 3 kind of guy, but I certainly try different genres of games. This video really breaks down the meat and potatoes of Anno 1800.
I found the game pretty straightforward, but its still good to watch this. In my second game that im playing now i defeated beryl, own all islands except for 4 (across all regions) and i have around 250 million and its still growing. I also built a massive navy that could destroy anyone left in the game still
Wauw thx for this simple explanation of the game when starting.❤😅 I failed soooooo many times, its ridiculous. I never made it to artisans. And i have played already of 150 hours into this game from when i bought it. 😅 I started over so many times that it questioned my sanity and motivation of this game, but its sooo addictive to play.😂 I searched on so many forums and on RUclips how to play this game and to find a simple explanation of how this game works. I have ADD so multitasking is a bit of a challenge for me. 😅 I get overwhelmed by all the features and menus and statistics in the game. And what i needed was a simple (keep it stupid simple) explanation of how the basics work in this game. Thx for that. I subded.
Loved this video, very very helpful. Picked the game up last week, tried a few different do overs and never got as far as the artisan part. Learned loads in this, would love a continuation video of about 20 minutes picking up RIGHT WHERE you left off here. Awesome, thank you.
To enjoy the game, one should be into the complexity of supply chains. Once you master that jazz including trade routes you can look forward to city beautification, naval action etc.
I’ve played 100s of hours of anno 2070 - fell out of the genre for a while but have been playing too much Timberborn. Saw this for sale with such positive reviews and figured “you know what, why not”
Beryl reminds me of the wife of the owner of a retail shop I used to work in years ago - exactly the same physical look and mentality! the staff even used to call her...BARREL! matrix moment :)
The ratios of what to build was handy. But more importantly, the supply & demand par was eye opening and something I should find. And, more importantly again, 8:15 number of people, then workers versus farmers - oh! Is it a bad idea to upgrade all your buildings - Will this leave you with no farmers?! Playing on ps5 because its free and turn out its a great game. Even the hardest settings is easily overcome, just be friend with everyone at start and take them when you are ready.

v helpful i'm taking this game on because of a sale. the game is also holding my hand a bit. already built a nonviable city in 15 minutesso time to start again.
I somehow saved my silly city. Was suffering from layout issues, applied your 10x10 recommendation, restructured everything, moved production lines away from the center of the city, started trading and moving goods around my islands.. went from 0.3m and 3k to now 3m with 20k, with a bank, a few investors and lots of engineers.. thanks man! i still made a HUGE mistake which is why im suffering a lot right now - i was not aware how important it is to take islands early and fast. Btw if it starts saying cannot sync game saves it may be because you have too many. Forget all the check files etc that the web recommends, just delete all the old save files in the load game menu, by clicking on the top right of each save where there is a bin icon
i played manor lords before anno, i now see manor lords took lot of inspiration from anno (good thing). one thing i hate about the game is that it's straight roads only i think grids look shit, i know there's a mod but it makes ur people walk in zig zags which also looks shit
I never really checked how quickly I reach artisans, but then I really never rush anything in this game. For me the most limiting factor at that stage of the game are.. bricks. I buy them whenever I can, but that's not much and you can produce yourself only so much. So a lot of the time in the early game is spent exploring while construction materials get made. It's the same with steel beams and concrete later in the game. That had always been the case in Anno games though. Back then it were tools and they had been the main limiting factor. Now with the necessity of having adeguate workforce there's another layer of complexity to the same problem. I'm not complaining, merely stating. :-)
I don't even consider what I'm doing rushing haha... I see it more as just moving through to get onto the rest of the game and have everything unlocked so I can better lay out and plan my city with everything I want
Amazing guide like every one you've done. Gonna use this to get back in the saddle in the upcoming days. Out of curiosity, what are the easier two-star AI's?
Just started playing a week ago trying to get the hang of things, my problem is that once im out of money i cant gain anymore lol, but a little bit into the video i noticed you dont need shnaps on this version, i guess just add one of those farms and follow the demand still ??
I love the game but I have realized that I am too casual a player. I need an "active pause" button or I need to stop playing. Until there is an actual "active pause" I will not recommend the game. And yes, I have heard of the "pause" mods that slow things to a crawl but that's not enough. And yes, I know about stamps. I pretty much just fight the pirates until the debt spiral takes me out or I get too far behind the AI. That's pretty fun even when the AI cheats. Sailing ships never spun in the water like they had bow thrusters - lol
I'm fan of this game from starting and wants to buy it, well now i bought it and many dlcs as well. But can't reach more than 40k population and fail to reach end game... Game just decide to freeze and can't play it further
I'm one of those players who has bought this game a few days back and going through your guides. You have done a fantastic job. Currently I'm earning around 3,500 and sitting on 2.9 million in the old world. Thank You Taka 😊

Yup same here. Heard a lot about this game and one of the best Guides for this game. Thank you taka 🙏🏻
I be a crim, pirate shipping
The best tip I was given when I was a new player was to remap the production screen to the "tab" key. Trust me, it makes a big difference.
Every time I watch one of your videos, it always makes me want to start a new playthrough.
everytime i watch his videos is because i messed up and had to start a new playthrough lol
Not sure if this was mentioned, but I figured I would give two more tips:

Just got Anno for Christmas - been using your Ultimate guide to help me work/learn my way through (ready for artisans) - it's great! I may restart and try this. Happy New Year Taka.

Appreciate you. Being on console with no silos. I feel alot more confident now thanks mate
I just started playing this game and I wish I would have known about it sooner. I love this game and your video helped me out tremendously. So, thank you for making this!
I've had Anno for a while, but the Winter Sale allowed me to add a ton of the DLCs. I have been consuming all of your content. Thank you!

Just started playing on console, this helped alot
Hey Man, thanx for your efforts making life easier for us other players. Pity I can't like the vid twice lol.
Just spent the last bit of a steam gift card on this since it was 75% off. I haven't played a city building sim of any kind in probably 20 years, and I've avoided it because my brain gets tired from the mid-life grind but I think I'm gonna be able to unwind with this. It looks like I can play at a slow pace while I slowly learn how all the mechanics work. Modern RTS games are just way too fast and stressful looking now lol
Are you German? Really nice pronounciation of Schnaps!
And thank you for the Video! Really insightful. Playing the Game since the steam winter sale and its awesome. Your videos really helped out so far!
Great stuff Taka ! Especially for a novice like me.
Amazing video as i expect from u, the content is great and even while i played this game for years u still make me want to see all your content!! The hate and love is fine line because u make this game look so easy and I still struggle :D
Im going to need to start a new journey AGAIN…hopefully I do it right this time
The best gift for a New Year
I always add Beryl to my sandbox games, I find it easier to buy her main island shares (4/5) leaving her one so she won't declare war. lol
Thanks mate. Im new in the game. Nice guide for newbie.
thanks for the vid, helps a lot!
v helpful i'm taking this game on because of a sale. the game is also holding my hand a bit. already built a nonviable city in 15 minutesso time to start again.
I mean dude, this is awesome. Thank you.
I somehow saved my silly city.
Was suffering from layout issues, applied your 10x10 recommendation, restructured everything, moved production lines away from the center of the city,
started trading and moving goods around my islands..
went from 0.3m and 3k to now 3m with 20k, with a bank, a few investors and lots of engineers..
thanks man!
i still made a HUGE mistake which is why im suffering a lot right now - i was not aware how important it is to take islands early and fast. (edit: i started with normal settings, in other words, i have madam satan in my campaign)
now i am forced to trade for certain goods, which are not always available.
my profit flactuates with rum... it swings up to 30%
also there is logistic issues with trading rum, it takes like 30 minutes for one round trip and people are consuming 12 (?!), so according to my calculations, i need like 12x30 = 360 rum via trades.
there is also variance.. anyway, i have not yet been able to optimize it, so there are periods of rum shortages!
my engineers seem to run on rum!

@@ne2ho7thanks for the info, still gotto learn a lot
This game is confusing
its not that bad once you get a hang on things.... Docklands and Import / Export is the confusing part however our boy Taka here has a video on that.
It is a very confusing game. Absolutely not clear what to do
Not really...took me about 3 days on PS5 to get it all figured out

God I love this game, this is probably the only game I cant finish 1 single playtrough in a sandbox.
This is an amazing video!
Thank you soooo much!!!!! This really helpt me!
I picked this up during the november free to play event. Man this game is fun, almost 500 hours since then! But it's very overwhelming, I hate expanding to new territories before I get my home situated. My only problem is that by the time I get to investors, I want to start over again.
Restarting is the most fun I think
Haha I cannot count how many times I’ve restarted this game. More than civ 6 I’m guessing

Just started playing a week ago trying to get the hang of things, my problem is that once im out of money i cant gain anymore lol, but a little bit into the video i noticed you dont need shnaps on this version, i guess just add one of those farms and follow the demand still ??
The more reviews and beginners guides I watch the more I regret buying the game and I haven’t played it yet
nice guide thanks
I love the game but I have realized that I am too casual a player. I need an "active pause" button or I need to stop playing. Until there is an actual "active pause" I will not recommend the game. And yes, I have heard of the "pause" mods that slow things to a crawl but that's not enough. And yes, I know about stamps.
I pretty much just fight the pirates until the debt spiral takes me out or I get too far behind the AI. That's pretty fun even when the AI cheats. Sailing ships never spun in the water like they had bow thrusters - lol
I've been watching this video over and over but I still end up in debt with no workers
I feel overwhelmed and end up starting the campaign over for some reason
Where do we get the info of time of production, ton/minute of each building?
Thank you so much
I can’t ever get to the artisan section I always run out of money before I get to it I hope this helps me lol
Great video, but why didn't you use your 10x10 grid?
Less about layout and more about what you need
I'm fan of this game from starting and wants to buy it, well now i bought it and many dlcs as well. But can't reach more than 40k population and fail to reach end game... Game just decide to freeze and can't play it further
