Sls judging is probably the most inconsistent scoring I’ve ever seen. Have watched everyone and every single comp it’s so different. Just glad they added the 2nd line section back in.
As others have said, there is no excuse for giving a bigspin hurricane a 7.8. When the judges came out scoring low I was like “ok fine as long as it stays like this” - but then it just didn’t. The scores basically went back to normal, so they just screwed over the first heat. Sora made it but the fact it was ever in doubt is insane. None of the scores from the first heat logically compare to anything that came later
the scoring was definitely too low in the first heat or two, and many comments here are justifiably complaining about that, but people are focusing on sora shirai and felipe mota, when mickey papa is being overlooked as the one who was the most negatively affected by just barely not making the finals cut when he easily and obviously should have. (sora shirai was also underscored, but still made it to the finals anyways, and felipe mota, after getting robbed on the bigspin hurricane, missed his next three trick attempts, although the bad score may have thrown him off) mickey papa got a score of 7.0 for the following run: 1) kickflip 50/50 on medium gap rail 2) kickflip boardslide on medium rail 3) nollie heelflip over gap 4) nosegrind on small rail 5) kickflip 5-0 on stair hubba 6) bigspin boardslide on kink rail 7) 360 flip over gap 8) kickflip lipslide on big rail that was 8 perfectly landed tricks with no sketchiness, 7 of the 8 were flip/spin tricks (4 of which were kickflip + rail/ledge combos, plus the bigpsin rail trick)... and that only got a 7.0!? compare that to some later run scores, including many runs - with falls - that got *higher* scores: - alex midler's first run, comparable if not slightly easier, got an 8.1 - midler's second run, fell once and got a 7.4 - vincent milou's first run, fell on his last trick and got a 7.8 - luan oliviera's first run, totally flubbed his last trick and got an 8.4 - nyjah huston's first run, fell on his second trick and got a 7.8 there are more examples/comparisons in later heats too, but clearly mickey papa deserved more like an 8.0 - 8.5 run score (at least), which would have given him at least another point and put him somewhere in 5th-8th place. the skaters who made the top 8 were all excellent and earned their spots, so not intending to take anything away from them or their performances, and it would really have sucked for whoever ended up in the 9th spot and didn't make the cut... but regardless, mickey papa was definitely scored unfairly and inconsistently on his run score, and it cost him the spot in the finals.
The judges play mad favourites. Especially since they expect the big names won't be hucking their biggest tricks until the finals. Absolute joke in prelims.
I've definitely noticed Sora being underscored in a lot of competitions... Dew tour and Olympics he was definitely underscored on a lot of tricks. Also I think it just happens a lot of the younger skaters who don't have the same name recognition as the more established guys. Definitely a bias on judging.
People are saying it’s too early and that’s why Sora got a lower score than deserved. personally, I don’t see any excuse at all and I believe in that instance that the judges messed up and made a really poor call which did not reflect the proper score in the end.

What in the actual hell is going on with the judging? First heat got absolutely screwed. Between that and what happened with Aurelian getting screwed on the score for his hardflip lateflip last contest, I really think some new judges need to be hired or something.
Aurelien did it in different contest, so I think the judge is different aswell, but the reason why he got low scored on that Hardflip is because he already did hardflip variation before, its counted as repetition

I feel like Sora got screwed in the first round and was seriously rooting for him the whole time. A lot of other athletes were wayy too relaxed and kinda just flubbed their way through this and sora still came up top. Looking forward to finals!!
The 2 lines and 4 trick format is so much better. Thank you for changing it. However, the first heat got absolutely shafted. I was convinced after that first heat, the judges collectively decided to roll all scores back like 1.5 points from where they were last year to give room for scores to grow again... But no, that was just bad judging that made it virtually impossible for anyone in the first heat to succeed. Vincent is a great skater, but he literally Frontside flip motions into every trick. Kickflip back board, kickflip front lip, kickflip front tail, etc. Please, if Yuto no longer gets 9s for his one of a kind tricks, then start judging Vincent for constantly doing the same 3 tricks too. The kickflip gap to back board was insane and a lot could've gone wrong, but I would like to see skaters who bring variety making it through Pre-elims. If Vincent made it through and Sora didn't, there would be riots. 😂
Pretty sure i like the prelims better then the finals. Gets boring watching the same pros pull the same tricks for Nyjah to score above EVERYONE for competitively similar tricks.
It would be nice to have a parallel competition just for "SLS Legends" and have Torey, Malto, Koston, Sandoval, Tiago, Paul, Sheckler, Cole, etc. so we can enjoy their skating without worrying about the competition and trying to do crazy things like the 20's years old guys here.
You can tell whenever rowley disagrees or is disappointed by the judges scores; He either calls them out or he says nothing at all. The scoring throughout the entire show was all over the place. Guys in Nyjah's heat bailing or missing a trick in the middle of their line getting 7+ while in the final heat Jordan misses 1 trick AFTER the buzzer and gets the same or an even lower score. Heat 1 was one of the worst scoring in SLS history and the judges should be held accountable for how bad they fucked that up.
I know we have all done it. Finally seeing doin especially a flip trick normal or into a grind. Seein it slow motion. I feel like Paul and Shane can see every tinny movement everytime. Zero hope. All 100 knowing. Also they play the pockets of a skateboard. Either way there insane
When im talkin about slow motion im referring to having a really good day skateboarding. Where things go perfect everything feels good. When im talkin about Prod im talking about his board control. Hes way more sure or aware whats gonna happen. His style shows it. When im saying playin the pockets there feet when they pop a trick is never at the end of the tail or nose

@@b.l4365 no chance. The amount of accuracy and precision it takes to tre onto a huge circle rail is ridiculous. It’s close but tre 50 100% harder. More risk
@@JonahSilbert The trick is in front of you. How is that harder 😂 There’s a reason people can do 360 crooked grind etc. Not everyone can do nollie 270 lip.
@@b.l4365 as I said, more precision and accuracy required. Into 50 on a huge circle rail. Whereas although yuto is backside, he has more room for error landing into bs
Loving the addition of random stats (like how long Foy spent locked into grinds last year)
Thank you for this. You are really helping me a lot. My heart goes out to you brother!
That kick to 5050 was quick even in slow mo
Foy skates like it’s 1997. 8.3 for a gap nosegrind while hoeffler gets a frightening 6.7 for a 10x harder cab lipslide
7.9 on Sora first run?!
8.4 for a laserflip backlip?! Get the hell outta here, robbed
For real dude
bs overk 8.3
bs croocked nollie flip out 8.1
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?
I hope judges can also skate! Heart-breaking. 😢
Worst part is most of em are pro or used to be
torey looking tired today, mans got in his own head. I think he knows hes not rdy for sls after the injury but probably didnt want to pass it up.
I feel like Sora got screwed in the first round and was seriously rooting for him the whole time. A lot of other athletes were wayy too relaxed and kinda just flubbed their way through this and sora still came up top. Looking forward to finals!!
I’m just here to read the comments on incompetent judges …
I’m near sighted, where do I sign up to judge??
Dude come on this judge in the first heat is so unlogical how are you giving big spin hurricane a 7.8?!! Disgraceful
Midler has finally been given enough space to place. Move Brah!
SOOOOO many greats here. Literally everyone. I hate anyone has to be cut. The guys that don't make it are the ones with the best tricks every time
Heat 1 5:28
Heat 2 44:18
Heat 3 1:26:00
It would be nice to have a parallel competition just for "SLS Legends" and have Torey, Malto, Koston, Sandoval, Tiago, Paul, Sheckler, Cole, etc. so we can enjoy their skating without worrying about the competition and trying to do crazy things like the 20's years old guys here.
Geoff Rowley, Paul Zitzer, and Chris Cole should just handle all the judging and scoring.
Seeing Pudwill’s lines, it looks like even I could participate in SLS lol
You not lying 😂 bro said nice 1.3 it’s a score… it’s a score
yo i just posted the same. tory's awesome. but he's not ready to compete yet. his lines were very amateur.
@@villiantwo ...compete yet? He's one of the OG SLS skaters
Yup, and you can put out the video part he just put out too I bet
I agree but his video part in bigger bang was probably the dopest video part I've seen all year so he can rest easy
So glad SLS is back. Did anyone else get a bunch of ads?
Sora jyst got shafted. Not fair.
if braden hoban got a 9 in runs then sora got a 9.7 this judge panel needs replacing by people who aren't willing to be paid off
@Kal El no evidence that they’re not either 😂
I know we have all done it. Finally seeing doin especially a flip trick normal or into a grind. Seein it slow motion. I feel like Paul and Shane can see every tinny movement everytime. Zero hope. All 100 knowing. Also they play the pockets of a skateboard. Either way there insane
No idea what this means. Can’t tell if the comment is props or hate. Lol
So good to see luan and prod out there again
💯
