- Jacob attempts to fit through a cave previously thought to be impossible. Now called Jacobs Passage.
We will upload portions of squeezes every now and then. This will not be instead of other videos it will be in addition to our regularly scheduled adventure videos.
Imagine being the only human who has ever laid eyes and feet in a particular area of a cave. Nicely done, Jacob. That’s hell of an accomplishment.
Even Jacob can't return!
Give me a couple seconds. Okay I've imagined it. I'm good 😂.
This sick is sickening haha
I couldn't imagine ever wanting to do this...
There is no real achievement for doing this, no reward for the amount of risk...
@@ajcook7777 man has walked every inch of the earth. this kid just found another. that’s an accomplishment undone for the past 2500 years
@@ajcook7777 this is how discoveries are made all the time. People pushing the limits. May not be for you, but don't hate on the sense of accomplishment and adventure.
I could never do this and these videos give me an insane amount of anxiety but him coming out and saying “that was so much fun!” made that all melt away lol
I don't know why I can't post a comment, but these people that do recreational caving are some of the stupidest people on earth.
I think your son is so amazing at what he dose because he feels safe with you. Honestly, after watching a few of your videos , I would too. I would not do this unless someone like you where there too. Great job!
Thank you!
Jacob is his nephew I think not his son
Agreed. As dangerous as it looked it wasn't really with proper support. Looked very scary but at the same time I felt his son was save at all times. Well done.
Jacob is his nephew
Glad his son had good support
We'll be uploading some old portions of our videos from time to time. Just the claustrophobic crawls. This will not slow down production of our main videos, rather, it is our hope these shorts will be a way of encouraging new viewers to join the darkness.
Thanks for watching and supporting.
@@OneWayWillie great idea.
that was awesome guys wuts the next exciting cave video??? i been seeing some amature videos of petty john's cave and its a
pretty elaborate, deep cave
@@OneWayWillie Great idea!! Could be there for how long completely untoched
Think it's his nephew
While that’s a cool idea, our intent is to leave no trace in a cave. I’m Jacob’s grandpa, and I wasn’t comfortable while he was in that keyhole. Promise, he’s never coming close to going back in.
A literal once in a lifetime moment. Might be too big in a year.
Can't imagine doing this. I'm not claustrophobic but I know I couldn't keep my calm in some of the squeezes you all do! Subbed
He is far too big already. The window of opportunity for getting in that space has closed. Probably for everyone forever.
He was to big by the end of the video lolol
That means you are Claustrophobic LOL what the f u talking about
This made me tear up! The father-son relationship, trust, care that you approached it all with. Great work guys!
Uncle and nephew 💙 relationship and trust
That gave me the chills once he made it through. It was insane, I love that he has been the only eyes that has explored back there.
Or will ever. This event took several trips to gear up properly.
This is my worst nightmare. Good job following what you love.

Why the hell would you endanger a child's life like this?
Because I couldn't fit.

I remember when you first posted the video this squeeze came from. I commented that I had tears in my eyes listening to the sheer joy in Jacob's voice (shown here at 3:20). And now he has a passage named after him!!! How lucky he is to have an uncle like you. 😉😉
Thanks. Yeah we still like this moment where Jacob was just so happy. Sometimes we are all too old to experience this much joy anymore.
Nephew or son?
@@gonkdroid4112 Nephew.
NGL, I never had much interest in caving (only ended up here through a rabbithole of other caving videos...mostly ones about peril) but the happiness he had on display after getting in and out of there was unreal. It shows why you guys do this. Stay safe.
Thank you!
The tough part here for Jacob was being alone. He don't mind squeezing stuff out but once he does like this he is all on his own in the dark.
You guys are so badass. I remember watching another video of y’all’s. I still can’t imagine allowing my kid to do this but that pure excitement shown by your son is just awesome. That is one hell of an accomplishment and shows that you can handle any fear!
There are fears I am not yet equipped to handle. But I am trying.
@@CalvinHikes Some fears are justified and are to keep us alive of course!
Doing what you do can sometimes push that boundary but sometimes show us exactly where it is and why!
Stay alive! 😂
Some people are born for this, others are born to surf, and others are born to sky dive. I love seeing the diversity in everyone’s passion(s). His enthusiasm (and yours) is incredible and inspirational. I’m an athlete, wouldn’t do this 😂
I couldn’t believe it! The first time I watched this stuff, I had so much anxiety, but after watching a few episodes, I started to notice that I’m actually feeling just normal watching it. But it wouldn’t change the fact that I will never try this stuff. Brave guys!
Youre building a tolerance!
Exact same feeling here.
Same... surprisingly
This is so much more intense than skydiving, not even comparable to this hobby. This kid having this type of courage and mental fortitude will take him a LONG way in life.
Out in public he’s a quiet, polite honor student that gets embarrassed when recognized as a pro caver.
Jacob somehow takes all my anxiety way watching ur videos. His positivity and calm state of mind is truly impressive.
He is a positive dude!
Is Jacob considering doing anything career-wise using his caving skills? Gotta imagine he's in the top 5% of cavers at this point, if not 1%, and that's discounting his age.
Yeah it's funny I think Jacob is gonna end up being one of the more well known cavers in the world at a real young age.
I don't know what he wants to do. Hes still a kid so he can just have fun. If the channel keeps blowing up it would be an option for him as a full time job just making these videos. Not sure that's what he has in mind though.
@@CalvinHikes I make sure and probably a lot of us, to share as much possible. You guys deserve millions of subscribers.

Where we live is just so remote, this is backyard fun.
I'm a Diver, I've dived in many caves but even I tip my hat off to you men. It takes guts and I'd love to try it. Under the watchful eye of an expert ofcourse.
We do a diver on occasion...probably needing your help. 🤪
I’ve always wanted to dive (might start training in a few years) and cave diving is my ultimate goal.

I would have gotten stuck just from panicking kudos to you. Grandpa had every reason to be worried but you done it the excitement when you came out was amazing
Grandpa was the voice of wisdom here but we don't always listen.

That's insane. I think that nutty putty guy who got stuck head first down a hole was in 8×10
Was 10x16!
Bro was thick.
@@CalvinHikes for the nutty putty guy, what were things he couldve done to avoid getting stuck while exploring? Or in other words how do cavers avoid that situations in unexplored cave passages?
Im only seeing this 2 months later, these videos give me anxiety through the roof but nothing but props to you guys being total badasses. Congrats to the young man who went in the hole there, amazing to see and hear his reaction after coming out.
He’s too big to get back in there, but grandpa found a good cave not too far away that has incredible spider clusters waiting to drop on our heads. That should be fun. Thanks for watching
Whatever Jacob chooses to do later in life, he is going to have a much better preparation than 99% of the men of his age of handling difficult situations not necessarily in caving, but in relationships and other situations where you need to stay calm, assess and make a good choice. This is how you parent, you let the young grow in difficult situations, you let them make their own desicion and stay ready for them in case they bite off more than they can chew.
Admiration and respect from Russia!
Yes too many people raise their children to be old children rather than men and women.

This is officially the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life lol. That was fascinating yet horrifying and made me feel physically ill 😂
Hope you are feeling better. We all survived to find scarier caves.
bro i wonder how these guys fit through these caves because they might have some of the biggest balls ever lmao
I take my hat off to all the people who do this cave exploring. You must have nerves of steel and perfect control over your bodies movements. To be in a tight spot must be torture on the mind. I couldn't tell you how I would feel if I was stuck in a rock solid tube 200 feet below the surface with a small trickle of water slowly filling up the space around my nose and mouth. Images of drowning very very slowly filling my thoughts and panic setting in. I'm sure you guys have been in some really dangerous situations and to stay calm and focused is the key to survival. The thought of just going into a small cave gives me the chills. To anyone reading this I have only one thing to say. Do not go caving without a professional or experienced caver !!! Your life isn't worth risking just for the sake of saving a few dollars for the professional cavers fee.
Nice words from someone that seems to appreciate our hobby. Our family has been doing caves for many years. God Bless.
That kid's excitement got me a little hyped! 👍👏🤯 Congratulations Jacob!
Man idk it's alr bringin the kid with you if he can't choose this stuff for himself yet man

Well done Jacob! You guys never cease to amaze 👏
He’ll continue to amaze us all. He thinks in caving.
he is one brave kid! wow!!!! such a trooper, with so much determination! I love it! 😌👌🏼
This brings a smile to my face. It's awesome to see Jacob grow as a caveman!
He has grown a foot taller in the last year too. We stopped feeding him.
What an amazing young man, go on Jacob!!!!!
Not for me, but what a great moment showing the ultimate bond & trust between a father & son. That was a cool moment when Jacob came out from the other side! Well Done, J.!
Thank you!
Honestly, this is ridiculous! The fact that Jacob is the only one to EVER get through there is just… I can’t even describe how awesome that is! I wouldn’t even be able to set foot into any cave, even if it was a wide one! I honestly cannot describe how in shock I am at how amazing all of this truly is! Keep up the EXTRAORDINARY work!
We're thinking about going back here just to see if Jacob can even stick his leg in that hole.

I’ll be watching with a whole new appreciation going forward, thank you for posting this
Thank you so much and welcome to the dark frontier.
There was a whole series of videos that led to this point. I found this space and I thought maybe Jacob could fit but I was pretty sure he couldn't. So we came back with the whole family just to take a peek and Jacob jumped in before we could even stop him basically.
Now his leg won't even fit.
I couldn't even fit my head in a space that size, and my head is small enough to use headphones without pulling the extenders down. Literally can't fathom getting through a hole like that. Jacob is like a cat or an octopus.
Or just a very active member of a caving family. Thanks for watching
It was interesting to hear Jacob explaining how he controls panic in another video (breathing, rationalizing etc.) What I found most interesting is that there is panic to manage (as opposed to feeling completely relaxed about all this). Makes it all the more impressive (or bonkers) frankly.
I guess that's true isn't it. There is panic to manage. We like to say, the cave gremlins come for us all.

Interesting. Exposure therapy does work for some people. Incidentally, I almost never dream about caving.
I have the same dream of being trapped. I’m hoping watching these videos will help.
Hate the caving but the father son connection is just wonderful!! Love it!!
That’s one hell of an accomplishment, especially since it looked like that’s where you were headed.
We explored this cave several times to understand the challenge and have the right gear. It went perfectly.
This father son relationship is inspirational.
Grandpa, Uncle, Nephew. Part of a great caving family. The Walendas of the underground
Imagine how terrifying it would be running out of battery or all the lights failing! It would be the most pitch black you've ever experienced.
What about a earthquake and the rocks shifting and getting stuck down there
We carry enough spare equipment to stay underground for several days if necessary. These lava tubes would also be a very safe place and an earthquake. Much safer than a city apartment. Thanks for watching
What a beautiful bond. You seem like a pretty good dad.
Or uncle. The family that caves together, ... Well, you understand.
My stomach hurts every time i watch but i cannot stop watching . Thanks for allowing the scaries like myself to experience this .

Well then…this is a fear I never knew I had, y’all are awesome to be able to do this and with such calmness and skill.
Maybe not as calm as it appeared.
“Oh there we go! Okay, I’m out.” Your boy shows everyone each video how good of a father you are.
Uncle
Jacob is probably getting so pissed everytime he grows! Hahaa. Also I just want to say that when I first started watching your videos I could barely make it through, having to pause or skip parts. Having mini panic attacks etc. And NOW I LOVE them, I get so excited and like happy/ proud? (Lol) of you both when you make it farther and farther. You both have such a calming nature, it makes it much easier to focus on the beauty of the surroundings rather than panic about the confinement, when you two are just chit chatting casually as you make your way through these tight spaces. Well Done♡♡♡
Yeah he is basically bigger than I am now. Cant even put his leg in here.
What a dynamic. I can imagine how proud you were that day.
And exhausted, dirty, sweaty...but very happy
Ridiculously dangerous and totally foolhardy
Oh great word foolhardy. If you're under 60, I would be shocked! Would it be foolhardy of me to assume that?
Damn your son is gonna be an amazing cave explorer lol, you can tell he has a true love for it. The fact that he didnt go into a panic attack in a squeeze that tight is insane.
Nephew…and his dad is a caver as well. Jacob would cave every day, but we have to recover.
I don't think humans will be doing this in a few years. It's so easy to stick a remote controlled robot and they can be made for all sorts of conditions. Ones with wheels. Ones with legs like a scorpion. One that can drone around when necessary, walk again and what not. Just stick a wide angle camera to one of those.
I cannot stop watching these videos. I went from not even being able to peek, to obsessively watching every detail but still feeling claustrophobic, to wanting to go caving and do this myself (with a guide). F the naysayers, you guys are daring to live and actually touch and prod at this insanely weird, fascinating, dangerous yet delicate marble that we live on and it's so cool
Welcome to the dark frontier.
I'm sorry I don't even really know what a cave guide is. But you'll find your way!
That's quite the courage going into a tight hole like that, could never ever do it, do you ever have anxiety/stress while doing these stunts ? I would be paralyzed
We experience a pretty prominent level of panic. It has to be pushed down. Which is a real experiment in human psychology.
Nope not a chance in heaven or hell..
And I'm retired British army..
Massive hand shake to you both.. it's a very brave and calming thing you two do..
VERY IMPRESSED BRIT HERE
Jacob does such a great job getting thru those tiny holes
Most of the caves we do as a family, (three generations) have entrances that are considerably tight. It becomes a natural gate to most anyone inexperienced in caving.
That was cool to see. Great duo

Well, a couple of our recent caves could provide the rat. Caveman’s dad
I would do none of that the caves at cheerokee rock village aren’t like this what I saw people just walked through it. I was too big to fit through the walls but it wasn’t like this my niece said I can go through it I said your smaller than me. @@CalvinHikes It might be a good alternitive to abortion
Love his enthusiasm. Made the video worth for sure
Enthusiasm escaped after the nerves had held it captive a couple hours.
I have watched caving videos on and off for the past couple years, and recently found myself exploring the depths of your channel. Since I was very young, I've had no aversion to cramped, dark spaces and in fact I developed quite the opposite, a tendency to enjoy them. Many times in my I.T. career I've had to crawl through dirt-filled, ancient basements to run cables, or weave my way around nails while crawling across beams in dusty attics, and the thrill of it is something akin to what you experience, at least I imagine. My question to you is how would someone get started in a caving hobby? I'm living in the city and there isn't exactly a plethora of natural formations where caves might form. I appreciate your informative spin on caving videos and your safety tips. I think many watch purely for the thrill, but some of us might find ourselves seeking those same situations some day!
If one is serious about caving, there are 2 very distinct worlds. One where people know about caves and one where people don't. And crossing over that line is a very specific, challenging thing to do. Even if someone wants to do it it cannot always be done. The caving world is a private world.
You can search the Internet for public caves. There are usually several of them brought them for each area. You can also go on Google maps and search for caves. There are also apps which show caves and mines.
And that's sufficient for most people. But if you really really want to make caving a part of your lifestyle, you're going to have to join a caving group. Finding them and joining them is a matter of difficulty and persistence. But there is little other way to successfully locate and explore caves. These groups are the keepers of cave locations is and maps. And I find most of them to be full of fairly grumpy individuals. Caves are a sensitive environment and they don't really want to share the information. But the information exists and it can be found.
* This is not the path we took. We were born into a family of cavers so I don't know what it's like to suddenly decide to go caving. The darkness is not for everyone. And in our area, the caves are also freezing. So it can be rather unpleasant, even if the caves are interesting.
It's been about a year or more after you posted this and Im extremely curious to if you have you gone into caving? I completely support your mission, just be careful!
@@CalvinHikes If you do see this, do you know why a lot of those grumpy people are... well, grumpy? I'd assume it would be the opposite and every single one would have the positive energy that you guys do. I guess there's gotta be ball busters in every lifestyle!
This is how it supposed to be...kids having fun not locked up at home stuck on behind a computer screen.
This is our “video” game console. It predates Nintendo by 10,000 years.
That is just honestly epic. It's like on par with some great climbing achievements (I won't mention the ones I'm thinking about to be fair in case there's some sensitive people out there).
Wow, thanks! It was a REALLY small hole.
I'm sorry I am claustrophobic and watching that makes my skin crawl. Amazing what people will do to get a thrill
