    I've charged hundreds of AC systems in my career, but this Traverse had me buffaloed, specifically that low pressure port that points down away from View

    I'm soo glad i found this vide🎉. Thanks a lot. I have a question. My fans stopped working around last week when i was driving and now all I feel is hot instead of cold. So do you think is in need of it? It was working fine. No codes at all but I just bought the coolant sensor yesterday and still have to buy the harness cause i see the wires are old and exposed do to the hot and for being so close to the motor. Thanks in advance.

    Super easy but what if it takes two cans to fill? How do you switch it out? Turn car off, leave running??

    • @DirtRoadAutoRepair
      @DirtRoadAutoRepair  Год назад +7

      If it takes two cans: Leave the car running. Just unscrew the can and screw a new one on. The hose will not loose refrigerant unless you squeeze the trigger.

    Dumb question maybe so forgive me in advance, but will the compressor not come on at all if the levels are so low? I’m wondering if this is all I need to do to restore my AC. I have a 2016 and the AC button flashes and turns off. The vent air is so hot my kids and I can’t ride in the car without windows down.

    • @DirtRoadAutoRepair
      @DirtRoadAutoRepair  2 месяца назад +1

      That is correct. If the level is too low the compressor will not come on.

    Would have been helpful to have been able to see the low pressure port. Also, how often do you squeeze the trigger? It seems like you skipped some vital information.

    • @DirtRoadAutoRepair
      @DirtRoadAutoRepair  Год назад +1

      Yeah the port is poorly placed imo. Hold the trigger to fill. Let go to check the gauge. Fill until the needle stays steady at 45 psi.

    • @hmata3
      @hmata3 11 месяцев назад +1

      I did mine yesterday on a different GM vehicle.
      The compressor would kick in and the needle would increase to the red. Then the compressor would shut off and stabilize at low again.
      I'd press the trigger only when it was at a low point, always shaking the can left and right.

    • @hmata3
      @hmata3 11 месяцев назад +1

      I let the can rest for about 30 seconds between trigger presses. This way, it let the contents and can itself get somewhat warmer than what it would get to.
      Now I have cold AC again!!

    . R-134a for 2014? Google has different answers, thanks!

    • @DirtRoadAutoRepair
      @DirtRoadAutoRepair  Год назад +1

      Google is always 100% accurate. 😉 yes it takes R-134a and pag 46 oil if you need to add oil for some reason.
      BUT IF YOU don’t believe me R-1234rf systems have different fittings to prevent cross contamination.

    This doesn’t work on the early traverse, the low side sits down low next to the oil filter. You need a 90 degree adapter to even hook up to it.
