These are great engines. The only weakness is the kolbenschmidt brake vacuum pump which is attached to the front cam. It locks solid and snaps the timing belt. Fortunately the engine has sacrificial snap points on the rockers. If the valves collide with the pistons, they simply break the rocker arms and no other damage (£5 a piece) The best diesel engine going. You can run it with no fear
Cheers, all I needed to know was how to get the serpentine belt off, so I can drop the air con pump, as I've got to re-tap the threads on the thermostat water pipe to the head, where the previous guy had threaded it, got the whole front off to do it, and the air con pipe is just in the way to get a straight line in to re-tap, annoying, but I'm fairly sure that by releasing it from the block, I should have enough clearance by letting it rest on something.
I've had the engine it's solid, compared to the newer models. Z19DTH is amazing, only preventive measures I had to take, was swirl flap delete. And oil catch can.
I used to push this engine to its limits probably everyday for a long time 😂. Only one time had problem and that was swirl flap. Buy delete kit for £20 and done
Hello! I have the same car..my technician removed the intake manifold and clean up the top cylinder, replaced everything and started fine but the second day,we want to start the car by all means but never started..it only cranks and removers white smoke from the intake but never turns on.. I'm totally confused.. what are your ideas please?
I have not fine the plug fore the block tool fore the camshaft of my 2008 Vectra c 1.9 cdti , i remove i bolt fore a bracket fore inlet tube from the Turbo ,but its no hole into the camshaft
Great video and very informative. I didn't understand the part about the drive belt tensioner, something about an arrow pointing towards the groove for the locator pin or something. Could you explain this better for me please? I'm planning on doing mine soon. Thanks
I’m with you there mate I’ve enjoyed this one , I don’t know why they didn’t design the tensioner to be able to tension with an Allen key like some others but hey ho 😊 cheers mate 👍
a little late but maybe it will help others with the same question. you can work whichever way you find easiest. start at the tensioner and then work round either way so any slack in the belt is at the tensioner, ready to be taken out when tensioned! as an example, i would personally start at the tensioner, then go round the crank, then the cam, and end at the fuel pump
How's she goin'? This was a big job but a nice repair!!! Great to have all the tools in that timing kit too eh!! A great celebration of a successful job, but hard on the camera gear!!! LOL Take care!!!
Thanks mate , I’ve been looking everywhere for a while now the only 2 lifts that fits in this space supposed to be available for middle of June , then June came and apparently now is going to be available at the end of the year 😞 👍
I know exactly what you mean mate, I thought at first they had sent me the wrong belt as it was quite a struggle to have it on. Took me a good half hour just to put belt on. Nightmare!!
I have watched a lot of videos about mechanical repairs, and I have to ask why do they all have to wear a smart or expensive watch, risking damage to the face. Rings and watches should be removed, but if you prefer to wear them then go ahead.
Thanks for this! Clear, no silly editing, minimal silly music and fast forwarding- great stuff. Confident to get mine done now.

Did you figure it out?
How many kilometers can this Dayco belt can used?
At what milage or age should this be changed? I'm not sure if it's been done on my car before I owned it
Any idea what a car dashboard light is with a spanner in the middle off it is ? Ie what does it mean ?
If you're still not aware it's a service light
@@rickrichards2829no it’s not you need to get an OBD and find the fault code
I like doing those ones, but the tensioners are a bit fiddly. Nice job mate 👍

awesome video! such skill. Maybe pop a zip tie around that tripod
Have you used the locking tools from the blue box on your toolbox? I bought the same from eBay before I watched this video 😅
That engine moving after support was removed, clearly says it was not supported enough
Is there a chance you would tell me where you started putting the belt on (cam or crankshaft)? Thanks

I have a vectra same colour z167 paint code i need a bumper and a front jear side wing if any one has them for sale please let me know

Hey Mike yeah quite a job this one , i think it was drop everything day and the phone/camera suffered 🤣🤣🤣 cheers mate 👍
To ako absurdne máš poznačene tie kontrolne body? Biela ciarka ma byt na remenici na kľukovej hriadeli.
The fuel pump doesnt have to be aligned, and no nessesary to paint over new markings, just rotade the engine so the original marks align on the shaft
Nice video, very informative. Hope you get a lift in the future :-)

@@CarsExposed Oh, that sucks.
They never show you putting on the belt. The belt is a nightmare on these even before you tension it .Not as easy as it's being made out .
I know exactly what you mean mate, I thought at first they had sent me the wrong belt as it was quite a struggle to have it on. Took me a good half hour just to put belt on. Nightmare!!
No need for the tool white lines on the cam belt that line up
You will have to let me know your contact details so I can bring my cars to you for repair
my email is in the about page mate 👍
Cool thanks

I agree about rings it can be a hazard in some situations now regarding the smart watch I see it as a tool I use it when recording videos and run 👍
