The worst thing about being in medicine is dealing with death. While I was briefly in uni (I ended up having to leave due to health reasons) training as a veterinary nurse death was the hardest thing for me to deal with.
I used to arrange medical transportation for patients, and at least four times, drivers called to me cancel their trips because they learned their clients had passed away. I would alway be shocked by the news, and then I would call the medical facility to confirm it. At that point, I would ask about the cause of death, time of death (even though I was never taught to do that), and then I would delete their account because… well, dead people don’t need accounts.
I just love Dr. Charles and Dr. Sara's relationship. The way Dr. Charles often comforted her and gave her advice. He also played the father role in her life and after her father came in the picture, he tried to fix things in the beginning. And after she left, Noah said something like Reese said that he was the father she never had. So simple and sophisticated at the same time. Like even when Dr. Charles was defibrillated, that look on Sara's face said volumes in itself.
And this is why I respect Doctors, nurses and the hospital staff. Not because their knowledge, their status or the money they make. They have to deal with sickness, death and people everyday. Thank you for your service.
I just wanna say thank you to Chicago med for pursuing my dream of being a doctor. I have been watching chicago med, PD and fire for ages and I feel that being a doctor is the best thung for me. So thank you!! I love this series please continue
As someone who was born with a rare, extremely painful debilitating syndrome, this made me cry. I was told nothing at any point in my childhood. My parents explained nothing. The medical staff explained nothing. Today (48) I suffer from PTSD and will be on antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications the rest of my life. Children deserve to know the truth.
LLS Gaming This show isn’t a real life show! But these hard things like letting people know when they have a disease and diagnosis them with something! That is what she means, she feels bad when this sort of thing happens in real life!
2:38, he can see the question she can't figure out how to put into words. And so he took the first step and made the offer to be there with her for the conversation with the parents. Dr. Charles is the best.
"Why? Why the innocent, punished? Why the sacrifice? Why the pain? There aren’t any promises. Nothing certain. Only that some get called, others saved. She won’t ever know of the hardship and grief of those of us left behind. We commit these bodies to the void with a glad heart. For within each seed, there is a promise of a flower, and within each death, no matter how small, there is always a new life. A new beginning." -Dillon (Alien 3)
Scarlett lee Dr Manning is giving birth in a hospital, and that's not a reason to worry. Meanwhile, a little boy is going to die and someone has to tell his parents, someone who has never had to do that before and doesn't want to make the news any worse.
The problem is parents want to know they have support not that you know what they’re going through. There’s no point in pretending you do. How can someone who does not have children understand what it’s like to hear your child has a condition that will kill them, and their other child could have the same condition.
Yet another reason why I don't want kids. I'm actually not sure if my family has any sicknesses in your Gene's since most of use don't even talk to each other but still. Although there are tests for that.
I think Dr. Resse is unable to believe in herself when she comes at the stage when you need to confront the parent or legal guardian and with this statement she can't be a doctor who is fully committed and direct with her patients. Other than that being said I think she a paranoi which stops her from truly noticing the problem of her patient and if anyone realized that she seems scared near patient's. Oh and thanks to everyone who listened to my ted talk about Dr.Resse and her problem.
They have the best chemistry in this show. You can really feel the mentor student relationship...and hint of father daughter too😊
GailStorm08 what are you implying?
Tisha Patatoes that they have a very good chemistry
True
Too bad Reese left
Coldclearblue reese never left

Even though Krabbe disease is a horrible disease and a nightmare for a family with a small child, the parents took it better than expected...
Probably because it isn't real. People IRL may well handle it better or much worse, no way to know. I imagine most people would be broken

Well I’m glad you find inspiration ... just keep in mind that these shows in many ways are not even close to the actual hospital environment ..

I love these to characters they work really well together they make a great team.

DR Charles is so chill about everything
Dr Charles is the reason I watch this show. Favorite character.
My heart just got shattered into a million pieces
2:52 I'm crying.. Oh my god... The expression on her face breaks my heart... ;(
I hate when children get diagnosed and there isn’t a cure...
But that's why we have doctor's that are like those represented here. They try to find it or at least give what can be needed for the short term.
When the boy smiled the water works started
Ps that meens I started crying
Wish I would have a Dr charles kind of mentor in any instance of my life 😭
I'm here
this is the one kind of pain our brain cant deal with. loosing a child. i cant and i wouldnt even imagine how painfull those moments are.

I love the relationship between Dr Charles and Dr Reese it is amazing 💝
2:15, what a beautiful smile
My heart is melting, she is so gorgeous
Chocolate muffin are you joking lol
Because I hope for the sake of humanity you are
It was so real I thought it wasn’t a show but really it is, mind blown
this job takes a lot courage to perform ......not for the faint hearted.
Dr. Charles is my favorite with a very good reason
I have admired the works of Oliver Platt since the 2004 series huff. He is such an underrated actor.
He's been doing good work since The Three Musketeers. At least I think he played Porthos.
Charles is such a great guy!
Sarah looked like she was about to cry! Poor girl!😔😔
Why can’t I watch the entire series, I wish this show aired in Australia.
Omg I love the charge nurse Maggie 😂😂
I cried when that kid smiled
I’m so scared because I know my turn will come to tell some parents the same and I am way to sensitive for this
There was one funny part of the video " Natalie just went into labour and here water broke right in front of me" I was laughing
There was the “I guess I was just wondering, how do I do that..?” “Have a seat” “..Yeah” 😂
Dr Charles looks like my art teacher XD
CrimsonWolfHazelmere - Lunar Wolf Hazel he might be a part time actor?
Patrick Yang he isn’t XD he’s always in school
It was a emotional episode i feel for this kid got to have tissues watching this Sarah cried when she went into the bathroom i cry too seeing this
Heartbreaking, I couldn't be a doctor if I had to deliver such news...
Well my heart just sank to the bottom of the stairs
How do the kids understand that they need to lie there and act when people around them are saying they are gonna die
They usually are in acting classes or have had training of some sorts

yeah because Dr manning in labour is no big deal
Scarlett lee ?
Well Sarah barely knows her at this stage and she's facing the biggest test of her medical career. Colleague having a baby is not a big deal
Obviously not right at that moment
Yeah, it’s not a big deal. Because people have children everyday. This is one of her biggest tests and it’s more important.

Isn’t it up to the parents if they want their minor child to know about his disease?

Technically yes but it is highly inadvisable to hide it due to the psychological distress that comes with dying for no apparent reason.
So when this will be on Netflix???
