I thought the same thing. She was so concerned about her, more so than the baby. Asking if she would recover and be okay. Not wanting her to be just a "human incubator"
Brade I just finished watching this episode! The younger brother doesn’t have the disease and when they told the boy who has it, he reacted so well to it honestly made me tear up
Sometimes we forget that doctors have feelings and they can feel sadness as well. Sometimes they have to stay a strong and keep in tact and do their job, but deep down they are hurting as well that they couldnt save all lives. They save many, but not all.
That’s so sweet! 🖤 same here! I actually wanna be a doctor, I love learning these things even if they’re kinda confusing 😅 I’m only 12 so ya know I have a lot to learn!

Huge respect to people in any field such as police, fireman, doctors, doctors etc, they have to deliver some truly heartbreaking news, and it must effect them having to tell so many people these things, huge respect ✊ 💖 Edit:thanks for the likes 💖💖
Those two doctors at the end did a phenomenal job, in my opinion. If I was a parent with a terminally ill child (dear gosh, I hope that will never happen!) that's how I'd want to be told. Calmly, with sympathy and offered just the right amount of information to digest at one go.
Every time that someone comes to Dr. Charles, he always says- Have a seat. What a saint, an absolutely great guy. We all need a Dr. Charles in our life
To me it means they had so much hope that you would live and/or they didn’t want your final moments to be free from the pain they were feeling. Also, learning your dying at such a young age could mean you develop an extreme sense of apathy towards living that takes years to overcome.
My uncle does the same job as Dr Charles and Dr Reese and has to deliver the bad news. But he is a bit of a sociopath. Not the weird type, the good type Which means he doesn't feel much emotion and can control them very easily so he has no difficulty delivering the news, even the worst ones. And actually it is a massive support for the parents and family of the patients, because he looks so stabe and solid, plus he is a big dude who could have easily been a pro wrestler so he has this aura of safety and security, so when he puts his hands on yours or on your shoulder, you feel immediately less stressed. I am a veterinarian and i am 10 times worse than Dr Reese. If i have to tell the owner of my patient that the patient is going to die, we end up both crying our eyes out, and also i can never make them pay. To this day i can never understand how vets or docs can make the owners or the family of the patients who die, pay for the hospital bills. For me it is unthinkable. If i can't treat the patient, then the owner doesn't owe me anything.
What have you done........have you turned my husband into a vegetable 😂 Edit: Thank you for the likes! I just wanted to say this is meant to be a light hearted joke even though this is a serious topic.
It annoyed me the whole way through that Dr Reece’s eye makeup was heavier on one than the other. 😂 ahhh I love her though. A lot of the time I just wonder what made her so insecure and worried all the time ?
They hinted that she had it pretty rough growing up. Dad left, Mum was cold and unloving. Then she saw how much violence there was within the medical industry (patients hurting doctors specifically) and got really paranoid :)
One thing I’ve learned from watching my father go into cardiac arrest and calling code blue, before you even know what is happening you get whisked away to the waiting room
because the doctors need space to actually save him or atleast try, that women in the video was bawling her eyes out and that could be a distraction to the doctors, im still sorry for your father and if hes alive i pray for him and if he isnt rest in peace (yes i know this comment was 6 years ago)
My friend was delivered at 23 weeks and she survived. Spent most of the first year of her life in an incubator though, and now has a chronic cough. But she did live.
The biological mother tho! "Is *she* okay?? *And* the baby???" She asks if *she* is okay first then loses composure when she surrogate may not be okay. Such a compassionate soul. Edit: I TAKE IT BACK
The next part of the episode, she turns against the surrogate. She rejects the surrogate a surgery that would safe her life just because it puts their kid into danger. She basically sees the surrogate mother as a human incubator..
It's not that simple. I wouldn't say she treated the surrogate like a human incubator. A lot of what people forget is that she IS the mother of that baby regardless of whose body it's growing in. Most mothers would do anything to keep their children safe, even make cruel decisions like she did. Plus there was no guarantee that the surrogate was gonna get better while it was basically certain the baby would live without it. I'm not saying she was right at all though but I don't think putting your child's life above someone else means you don't care about the other person. She did clearly care about the surrogate though because in the end she does choose to go through with the surgery.
I'll try to explain it in a least med way. You don't "shock" the patient in EVERY CASE, sometimes you just do the compressions, bagging(ventilation with a bag or mouth-to-mouth depending where u need to preform the cpr and who preforms it) and that is determined by readings from a heart monitor which tells u basically why heart stopped to work and they all have different names like on his case sinus tachycardia (which is a state when heart is going over 100 beats per minute). Hope I helped you 😊
You can have sinus tach and no pulse at the same time. Pulses cannot be detected if the BP is too low (for example, a massive blood loss) and in those conditions the heart rate goes up ;)
This is one of the stressful thing both a doctor patient will experience since I actually work part time in a catholic church next to a very big hospital it was not unusual for both doctors and patient to suddenly just ask to confession or talk with the priest serving in the church our parish patroness and have relations to the sick and dying so I always hear people crying around our gardens which is normal and even know some of the people who pass and their doctors it can really be stressful

It is so hard to break the news to the parents. The doctor is about to cry but trying to hold it in.
