    The correct thing to do with a tracking chip is to turn it over to police, not throw it down a drain.

    • @diosoth
      @diosoth 20 дней назад +46

      Sure but 90% of the characters in modern Dick Wolf shows are too dumb to function in reality & would probably themselves be in prison or unemployed if reality applied to them. The doctors especially break rules & laws every episode & a character that is seemingly intelligent will suddenly lose their minds if the plot demands they do something "dramatic".

      fr in the first season Doctor Halstead revives a women against her will and it becomes a massive thing where he gets sued and is ongoing for multiple seasons and almost ruins his life all because he revived a person who didn't want to be.
      and then in season 2 and beyond we have the doctors doing this stuff multiple times a season with no repercussions

      Actually, there is no point handing it over to police without a co-operating witness. Who can be watched for and dealt with, along with the police guards, if people are sufficiently desperate. The patient wanted it removed - he did not want the police involved, and if she had put it in the hospital's waste - medical or otherwise - the trackERs would have known exactly where he was and had been, putting even more lives at risk. What she did was buy some time; if they could have talked him into do-operating, he might have stood a chance, but as damaged as he was by what had been done to him, he just wanted the dam thing out.

      Here it was because the patient wasn't ready to leave and testified. The doctor talked with a police officer, and she said it was useless if he didn't want help from the police

    • @bzh7648
      @bzh7648 2 дня назад

      In reality, she would have had to phone the police, as she couldn’t leave right then. The traffickers might have tried to kill the kid if they discovered the chip in the possession of the police. It’s difficult to say. They traffickers might have just let the kid go, and relocated their operation. How much do those people let one kid know about their operation? This is a tv show that wrote an episode dramatizing a serious issue of today. I doubt that it gave us much of an idea about the reality of this crime.

    • @lukewalker6646
      @lukewalker6646 20 дней назад

      If you have contact with your local NA (narcotics anonymous) chapter, reach out to them. They may have contacts with doctors sympathetic to users and folks in withdrawal. There's no guarantees that occasional treatments make methadone withdrawing any easier than quitting cold turkey (methadone was supposed to be the solution to methamphetamine withdrawal, after all) but if nothing else, NA will be much more likely to know of resources than a government caseworker who might discourage using as treatment.

      Is she in rehab? If it's an outpatient facility, she would have to be checked in and evaluated 1st, if she's addicted to the methadone look up clinics and take her, please don't give her any money or let her go anywhere without you. Its best to keep her in your home where you can keep an eye on her but if you can't keep her in the house(if she wants to leave.) don't let her in anyone's home, but if she chooses to go into anyone's home or with anyone you don't know do not go with her. Prayer's for both of you.

    For anyone worried about internal trackers, don’t worry, this is sci-fi, for now. Yes we have GPS receivers, and transmitters, about that size, but the part that’s fiction is the battery. Think about a smartphone - the battery takes up most of the space and lasts a day at best. Unless they’re going to be surgically swapping out batteries every couple of days, this wouldn’t work. If it would, every millionaire pet owner would get a tracker for their precious FiFi, and Special Forces soldiers would have these implanted in case they were kidnapped.
