The girl’s dad took a hostage at gun point earlier in the episode to get Voight and his team to investigate his missing daughter who was originally thought a run away. After saving her from the trafficking ring the dad still had to do time for taking a hostage. Secretly, Mouse the guy who was taken as a hostage, removed the bullets from the dad’s gun to make it seem his weapon was empty so he’d do less time than if it was loaded.

Copy cats may have learned/credited learning about their idol through the show but do a lot more research into their idol than just a Hollywood scripted show. Especially shows like Chicago PD/FD were it is over dramatized and actual police work is not at all like it is shown. while the father definitely does need to serve some kind of sentence, i do think it would be ideal for him to at least be out on home arrest probation rather than prison time. his daughter is going to need him if she doesn’t have any other supporters in her life.

Lindsay Stock: You're gonna arrest me?
    Sophia Bush: We're not...
Lindsay Stock: I won't go in another cage... [readies the revolver to her neck]
Sophia Bush: You won't... Sarah, wait! Sarah!
5:37 [Dash Mihok, arriving at the train with Jason Beghe, sees Stock inside with Bush by her side. Beghe starts to take the handcuffs off of Mihok]
Sophia Bush: Can you look outside for me right now?
[Beghe takes the handcuffs off and Mihok moves in]
    Jason Beghe: Go ahead...
Sophia Bush: Sarah, look outside. Your dad's here.

ever watch body-cam footage? 9/10 times the only point where officers unload is when the person with the gun points it at them or at a bystander. If they drop it, and surrender to the officers, nothing happens other then them getting cuffed.

@@juanitacanon3120 yes I have. I've watched enough to make that judgement. And in the cases where an officer has to discharge his weapon, it's in cases where there's no other choice. And the data also corelates with that as well. How many Officer Involved Shootings there are, vs how many Officer interactions (for example someone getting pulled over for speeding) and arrests.
But odds are, you'll only remember the OIS, because that's what gets the headlines.

In that state of stress the girl could have thought they meant to manipulate her. After what she went through she probably doesn't have any trust or confidence in anyone, so telling her something that might give her hope, in such state might cause the opposite effect.
Saying nothing until her father was there was a good course of action since the father's presence, as seen, would have been the only thing that could persuade her.
