This is insane, Mikko. I somehow knew this couldn't come out of a cutting plotter, yet I couldn't believe my eyes when I was watching you cutting every single scale by hand. Outstanding work 👏🏻
Stencil.. Stenchil..stensel..Sir with skills like that you call it whatever the heck you want. Thank you for dispensing your knowledge.
Mate watching you carve and paint your lure creations is nothing short of amazing you've got yourself real talent I've watched this clip along with others many times, the realism in your painting skills brings your lures to life so realistic. Brilliant work keep up your fantastic work
So I've been building lures for a few years now learning Lots from different builders must say you are the master I hope to be able to compete with greats like you one day
That’s gotta be one of the best scale patterns I’ve seen. doesn’t look like mesh netting
Awesome lesson Mikko. The lure master strikes again. The lure turned out beautifully
as always. Keep up the awesome work.
I look forward to your next one.
Your freehand airbrushing is superb.
Excellent process and final product! I learned a lot, thank you very much for the tutorial!
You know I got much love for you, and you've showed me so much, but there's no way I'm ever doing this. You are a saint for your level of patience.
It honestly doesent take that long to do, you should give it a try. The first one is always the hardest but once you've done a couple it becomes easier.
With love from Japan🇯🇵
This work is very difficult or convenient because it can be used many times👍
I am also making a big lure by referring to your video now❗
beautiful work. It would ALMOST be a Shame for a big Musky to scrape it up, but then again, that's the point. Keep it up.. Love the paint jobs!!!
I've been using mesh bags that onions come in, but your way is much better! Thank you for showing, I'm definitely going to make a set of these stencils.
I bought oranges.
That freehand stencil is amazing good job keep up the good work
WOW! Amazing Pedantic Work!
Very nice and detailed work on the scale stencil. I have done some similar work on the dragonfly’s wings using a 3D printer. I think this would be a good application for a 3D printer too.
Very metal name! I have been wanting to do a project using color schemes from my favorite metal album covers. Very awesome tutorial!
Funny you say that. I've done type o negative, Singularity AZ, and im hoping to do Warforged soon. Good luck and enjoy!
Wow! I hope people that watch your videos appreciate the level of skill it takes to accomplish results like yours. I have pretty good skills and teach Indstrial Technology for a living, my students often say "you make it looks so easy" I guess now I can relate 😀
Amazing looking lure but Insane amount of work in it , I think that would stay on my display shelves, to nice to fish with.
Wow man u did a incredible job
man I do the odd carving for lino printing and cutting paper stencils for silk screening but this to me is WAY too much work for me .... kudos to you for your persistance as the finished product is fantastic
Wow your attention to detail is second to none , i am never dissappointed with your work and learn so much from you , but have to say you have more patie ce than i do , i would have done the scales in the cricut cutter hahahah. Beautiful bait brother .
Beautiful work Mikko that really looks great .
That scale work reminds me so much of some of the old Pawpaw plugs I have
that I like so much
Still fishing the Pawpaws and catching fish ... some of them are 70-80 years old I think
That's pretty neat
Nice idea.
I bought "netted oranges" to use as a stencil. Works great!
I'm in awe! My work looks like a kindergarten project compared to yours.
Can I ask what brand of airbrush you use. You seem to get so much colour with each pass. I have to water down the paint so much to get it out of the airbrush I get almost no coverage.
Also do you adjust the pressure and needle size when doing the fine work such as the fins?
I use iwata highline and iwata custom micron. I do usually limit the amount that the needle can move when I do some precision work but that's not the case here.
I just watched the pine bark and bird feather clip. Very creative and beautiful results. I enjoyed watching the fishing part of it just as much. A bit different from the salmon fishing we do on British Columbia’s west coast. If you’re ever in this part of the world come and stay. We’ve got a piece of paradise here. I’ll take you out. I fish almost every day during salmon season.
Exceptional work, actually ART.....
Thank you
Estoy empezando..y la preguntas son.
Los crankbites son restaurados o se pueden comprar sin pintar como los de aliexpress?
You have great patience dealing with those scales. I don’t know if I have the same lol
Votre travail est vraiment magnifique .je suis en admiration 👍
They make a half round corner punch leather cutting tool that might work well for cutting out the scale holes. It might require a bit of modification but it should speed up the process for you.
Definitely a MetaL name 🎸 ⚡️⚡️⚡️💥💥💥 thank you for the awesome how to
hats off to you mate, thats alot of time and effort you put in. looks amazing 👌👊
Masterpiece, greetings from Poland.
I got 5 mins in, NOPE! Nowhere near the patience and my hand is cramping just looking at that cutting! Excellent job tho, keep it up lol 😝👍
Hi! im very interesting, what type of airbrush do you use , or is best , single action or double action? thanks
I use a dual action airbrushes. The iwata highline and the iwata custom micron.
Beautiful lures, but for some time I have discovered that in some fishing spots the metal parts (those related to the line and treble hooks) act almost as a repellent for fish
I admire your work. Each of your baits are unique and beautiful pieces of art but you use simple things like paper and packing tape that everyone has to achieve these results. Really inspired by your work.
I’m curious how many uses you would get out of that stencil?
Probably hundreds of times if you clean it carefully.
@@SolarfallBaits Wow. that's a surprising amount.
Desde España te digo que eres mi inspiración amigo, muchas gracias por tu trabajo 👍
Crazy awesome work man! So impressed! 👊
Awesome paint work! What epoxy finishing do you use? It looks very smooth and glossy.
Used true coat epoxy for this one
Brilliant sten-cil
❤🇦🇺
Just thinking about doing own lures, onkohan toi leipä kiven alla tällä alalla tiäl suomes
Amazing as usual! I may actually give this a try.
Beautiful work as always Mikko! A timely video for me... I'm just getting into lure making and was thinking about stencils. I like how you reinforced the paper with packing tape but that would still leave the cut edges exposed to moisture. Do you think that there would be any benefit to treating the whole paper (or maybe just the exposed edges) with something (like Minwax Polycrylic) to fortify and waterproof to paper?
Sure You could probably water proof the paper with something before putting on the tape.
Legend!...as usual. Thanks Mikko.
love to see more videos like this never gonne use this probably but knowledge
Amazing work!
Thank you
Figured this was really the only way to get a symmetrical and good looking stencil
There are other ways of doing it too. Non of them are very economical though. like for instance you could do this with a laser cutter.
Forget this crap no way! I’m going to use my wife’s bath loofa
Really good artist
Amazing absolutely amazing
Just Beautiful
For the scale stencil, can you start with an already-existing mesh, or would that be cheating?
You can do whatever your heart desires
@@SolarfallBaits 😊 Thanks!
Nyt meni kyllä Tarot hommiksi "myrskyn kutsuja". 🤭😀 Awesom work as always. Keep up The good work!!
You have an excellent paint spray gun which I could not find any where. I would be grateful if you would tell me about its name and if I can get it in Canada. Thanks
Hello, i bought mine from www.mapleairbrushsupplies.com/collections/iwata-airbrushes they have a pretty nice selection of stuff and the on top of that the staff is very nice and helpful.
Thank you very much for your answer. I think I must have a compressor to be able to use this excellent air sprayer.
what brand and model of the aircompressor and airguns are you using? what do you recomend for a final one time purchase investment so i can also do this and for other arts and crafts projects?
i have a super cheap compressor i bought from amazon, as my main airbrushes i have a iwata custom micron and as a B airbrush iwata highline
@@SolarfallBaits are you able to ind and send me links to those?
Wow! Fantastic 🤙
Great work!
Awesome work! Can I just buy one from you?
This is even cooler than the recently released Reverend Bizarre tshirts!
Oh yeah love me some Reverend Bizarre
Que hermoso trabajo es un arte, lo felicito amigo.
Do you have any tips on avoiding peeling the paint off with the tape?
Maybe you can use a different primer
Dude , absolutely a gift from the Lord God Almighty..
Amigo parabéns pelo canal fantástico.
Extraordinary 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I have a plantation of paulownia for making Surfboards. It's as light as balsa but much better impact strength. Woukd it be any good for lure making.
Thanks for the tip. I'm gonna try and find some to experiment with.
@@SolarfallBaits I'm happy to send you some. Obviously no cost. I'm sure it woukd work well. It Carves beautifully.
Wow... just wow.
How lonh did the scale cut take?4hrs?
Hmm I can't say I counted the hours that ot took me to Make it. But maybe 6h to 8h in total is close.
You are doing an amazin job. Are you selling this lures?
Sometimes when I have motivation and time to make something for sale
Beautiful bait!!
What did u use for the clear coat ? How did u apply?
I used true coat epoxy and i applied it with a paint brush
Always perfect master
How did you happen upon making lures for entertainment/ cash?
We had a lures making class in our shop class when I was in high school back in mid 90ties and it's been downhill ever since 🙃
Iam supprised your still building.
Lure making is a hell of a drug
Un trabajo perfecto.
Enhorabuena
How do you clean your airbrush?
I usually disassemble it and soak the parts in asetone and clean them one by one.
Btw this lure tail, first time I see it, what you got with this tail ?
More stabil gliding action
@@SolarfallBaits thx.
How long is the fish you are working on?
I dont recall exactly but i think its 10”
Thanks@@SolarfallBaits
Screw that you’ve got more patience than I do
Understandable, most people wouldn't want to do this by hand. My goal with this video was to show you that you can, if you wanted to.
Jesus man thats something I would not have to patience to do
good technique for Chinese workers !!! (Low salary, loong working time!)
Thanks for sharing 👍
Love it. 👌👌👌
This is completely unnecessary but it looks good! Congrats for the patience!
Muito espectacular, um autêntico mestre.
Amazing!!
🤘 Hessian-approved 🤘
Awesome 😉
Just built a new shop to make lures and jigs
why this lure is so big ?
Bigger lures catch bigger fish
Very nice
Wow!!!
Stencl = stensil - an 's' sound and not 'sh'. You said it correctly once but what the hell you're an artist in what you do.
Heh its one of those words that i have a had time pronouncing. Even if it's not 100% correct i think you get what i mean?
Like sit not shit
Lol
Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
That is super tedious man idk how u do that and does that stencil even last that long due to the material ur making it out of. Why not just get a cricut stencil cutting machine an u can make what stencil u want there worth the money.
This will last for probably hundreds of baits as long as you clean it carefully once in a while.
🔥👍
👍👍
The fish should bite it just to be polite how much work and finesse
Yeah I don't think I have the patience for that, and you have to do two 🤦
You only need one. You can just flip it the other way around.
