Great pattern, and demonstration .I usually paint the whole lure black, then put netting on lure and start with the scaling, adding the white on the belly and gills afterwards. You get the black coming through the scales. Its another way of painting this pattern which can be used on all fish patterns. This by far is my most used technique Keep the videos coming love to view them .
Thank you so much! Really nice to hear that, yea since brexit it ain't that easy anymore to find materials i quess? I used to ship to UK but since brexit i can't no longer unfortunately
Great video! This is the best 'real' scales explanation video on YT. So refreshing to see someone free hand a little more - I do that myself because messing with stencils can be really irritating & slow sometimes....I feel like lures don't turn out as natural. Thanks for posting!
Thank you so much for the compliment! I really like free handing too, it goes fast and the lines are nice and with soft edges. Just like you said they indeed look more natural
Awesome work. That is probably one of the best examples of how to paint scales I’ve seen. Thanks for the video and thanks for taking the time to go over all the details that make your lures look so good. Keep up the great work my friend.
Great step by step instructions. Great job, you abs another vid. Watched, I now think I hv enough balls to try my shad color I have been looking to buy but going to try and do it myself, so I shut down my cerakote booth I paint the guns I build and now just gotta buy all my paint colors now and I’m researching what paints to buy. I’m thinking the paint is acrylic model building paints.
Hello everyone,… I think it’s fabulous that all these cool lures are being made by very talented craftsmen here on RUclips! It is my contention these custom lures are “the shit”… no question about it…… beautifully made w/ love & skill…! But at the end of the day … fish don’t care what a lure looks like,… if there’s some bling on it,… you’re ahead of the game … it’s all about movement, splash, sound, sparkles & flash…… fish don’t care…! A makeshift lure made from a leaf and a hook catches fish …. I saw a piece of a Lego toy w/ a hook catch fish as well as a 1/2”x 4” twig catch fish ….. So,… all the bling is for you,.. the consumer who buys that expensive lure time and time again…. don’t get me wrong,… I have spent hundreds & thousands of dollars on lures, rods, reels and so on and so on… it never stops and these bait companies and various makers know this and they’ve got us by the balls …. Do the math … fellas. 👍😎🤙🤣😆😂🤗
Lures today are designed to catch the anglers more than the fish. We been using the classic tin metal spoon from the 50's and it still catches more fish than most lures on the market.
I would suggest to start of with the opaque ones. Or else you are going to have difficulties with putting a base coat on your lure. ( transparent paints are good for a transparent lure patterns but in general opaque paints are used for a base coat) Painting with opaques in the beginning will be easier too. The transparent paints will be the next step after you did some lures and want to take your painting a little further
This lure has been coated with a 2 component epoxy called VHC pike edition, But any epoxy for lure building will do. There are a lot of videos on youtube about how to apply an epoxy onto your lure 👍 Hope this helps mate! 😃
Hello! What is the gold foil that is used at the end ? Can hot stamp foil be used in the same way? And what type of adhesive did you use for the foil ? Thanks !
The gold foil and the glue, you can find here: lureblanks.eu/parts-and-tools/foils/metallic-foil/ You can not hot stamp small details. Hot stamping only really works well if you do the whole lure or at least a very big part. With this other mirror foil you can do small details in a very controlled way.
Not liking the perch stripes. It would be best to just spray the top with black. The cool scales are lost. Nice work nevertheless. That lure needs really big hook to function properly. It's not weighted right.
So far this is the most realistic lure i ever seen. Thx for sharing.
Thank you so much for the compliment! 🙏🙏😊
Never seen anything done gradulately before. Nice painting job.

Hahaha well said!!! Better to add the bling yourself then right? 😉!
That’s exactly right … btw smelt are so stupid,… they chase bare hooks… and get caught… lol 😂

Yea I noticed that they really need a lot of weight on the belly or they start spinning. Was a little dissapointed in that 🙂
