Great info and thanks for sharing. Once you start paining I would suggest that the you lock the focus if you can and do your work in the focus area (more light helps to widen the focal point) So much of this video you were struggling with the focus and it was very difficult to watch. Here is a tip I learned in the graphics industry if you're having problems with paint crawling under your stencil or mask, you can spray clear first this will fill in the small gaps and prevent the color from crawling under. Great illustration of the technique thanks again.
Thanks for watching, I’ve come a long way from here, always learning but you can reach me on Instagram and shoot me a message if you have any questions @hashimoto_concepts
Excellent tutorial. I'm learning and this helped tremendously! Question: Would you ever spray a lighter color in the opposite direction for more definition?
Absolutely! They only dangers of doing to much back and forth, is it can muddy the paint in that little area of the scale if you are not careful. Otherwise absolutely, you can create lots of cool effects that way.
Very very nice work ! People saying the videos are too long ? You cover things from top to bottom! Witch takes time ! Anyway love your work ! Do you have a website for purchasing your lures ?
Thank you for watching, it’s lengthy because I’m not much for editing haha, I am not very technical I’ll try to cut them down in the future. The hair drier suggestion may be the best suggestion I have gotten and that will be happening in the near future... maybe make a short video of it. Thank you!
Grettings, wonderful job on lures, what I want to ask,is it ok to use on same lure 2 different manufacturers of airbrush color, for example base coat of black Createx, and then continue to use Valejo series of tones over Createx base color.
Yes that is absolutely okay as long as everything being used is water based. I use autoborrne sealer, createx paint, Vallejo color shift and then clear it
Hello sir good day... How about the primer paint... What primer paint should be using??? Can i used air brush for the primer coat..??? Need some idea... I want to paint my lures...
So to get the scales going in the right direction, you want to hold your lure by the tail, and spray down the body towards the head of the lure, right? (Since your examples don't have a head or tail, I just want to make sure my scales are going in the proper direction).
If you are spraying a shadow for the effect (dark color like sepia) it’s tail to head. If you want to highlight over a dark color ( pearl or lighter colors) go head to tail. You want to keep the dark tones facing the head and the light tones facing the tail. Thank you for watching!
I have sprayed willow blades, and I used createx and dipped in 3 coats of kbs diamond clear. I have underspins that I did 2 seasons ago that have held up. Best option would be to powder coat or something along that line. However createx works fine, just make sure to scuff the surface with sandpaper first. Clear coats I use are either dip or brush. I don’t spray any. That’s preference though, many people airbrush or use rattle can with great success. Somethingthat can be used on small blades is a good clear coat nail polish. I have a instant set clear that dries in a few seconds and is clear and rock hard when set. Hope this helps, let me know how it goes! Good luck
Hey man great video. Im not sure, but it seems your camera always wants to focus on your damn stickers lol. Losing those on the work bench may help the focusing issue?
I know,I am definitely not a videographer lol. I have been told there are to many things to focus on, so next video, which I’m hoping to do soon, I have an idea for less focus issues. I love my stickers though... it’s hard not to promote all the cool makers out there haha. Thank you for your suggestion though, I appreciate it.
That’s a great question, I run my compressor at 30psi, which is on the higher end of what you are ever going to want, however it helps to push in reduced paint out and doing bulk detail or stencil work. If you are doing some free hand work or you need cleaner lines then reduce your paint so it’s thinner and dial back the compressor to maybe 20psi. Less force on thinned paint will make it spatter less.
Great toturial bud. Thanks! Do you play with layers effect? Paint, clear, paint, clear and so on until the effect desired. I saw a bait with mad effects. The builder told me how he did it but im more visual type of guy
I have, however not enough to have a solid opinion on it. I like when the colors saturate into each other creating a more natural blend. This is again opinion based, not saying right or wrong. I do spray a clear coat between scaling at times just to protect my base coat from scratching.
Thanks for watching, it can be done however spray cans have more inconsistencies. Things like different viscosities leave thicker layers, also the cone at which it comes out, so different nozzles will leave you with a different angle. With that being said if you can find the spot in the spray that you can catch the right angle the. It definitely can be achieved. Maybe I’ll try a future video with this concept.
@@willtipton1126 sorry I don’t, I had the eclipse hp cs as a gift back when I was in art school and it turned out to be a very good brush (I knew nothing about them at the time). I have only used Iwata since however I know they are not the cheapest, but the last! I’ve heard great things about badgers and they are lighter on the pocket. Sorry I am less help on this one.
Water based acrylics are easily removed by isopropyl alcohol You can honestly just throw it in some water and leave it for a while, swish it around later and solids will come off Waste not, want not
You are absolutely correct. I was trying to get across that the dried paint will transfer so as to not just throw it on your next project. I use small pieces so I discard it, however you are absolutely right and I should have made more specifications as to how to reuse should you want to. Thank you for watching and adding constructive criticism.
@@hashimotoconcepts no criticism just wanted people to know how to reuse or in general strip water based paint Thanks for the videos, look forward to painting some lures in the future
Fantastic man ! I'm sure you are helping some people put food on their tables because of this video !
Thank you so much for the comment

This vid was very interesting for my future lure painting, because I am a beginner. Thanks.
Thank you for the excellent tutorial!

Thank you so much, I’m honored you watch , and from so far away! I will be doing more soon!
Hi mate! amazing work, congratulations! Where do you get it to do the effects?
Thanks for sharing, I'll give this a try.
Nice video. Great explanations. Thx
A great way to make your camera focus is to put your whole palm behind the lure then your camera will instantly focus on the lure
Awesome video.. im a rookie researching on techniques and hardware to buy..very well explained.

Think this would work on spinner blades? Wondering how I could get it pulled tight????
Yes I have done the same thing on blades as well. Pull the mesh tight and clip it on the inside of the blade. I used to do it on 1” willow blades
You should start making more videos again!
Thank you! I actually have one I’m getting ready to shoot! Thanknyou
Thanks for The tips

Awesome video, I never knew about this trick! Thank you! Aloha!
Awesome vid. Great tips. Thank you. BTW another good netting material is a wig cap. They're stretchy.
You’re absolutely right. That would be another great option
Hello sir good day... How about the primer paint... What primer paint should be using??? Can i used air brush for the primer coat..??? Need some idea... I want to paint my lures...
I use autobonne sealer, but have also used rattle can primer with great success as well
Where did you get the netting for the fractured affect on the blue and white lure?
That was from Micheals craft store
great vid, you do need an autofocus though

Do you still make these videos? Only asking because I went to your page and everything is 3 years ago
I want to start getting back into it! I just don’t know what to do that’s not already out there. Thanks for the message though!
Where can I get the stand that holds the lure
Look up “helping hands” on Amazon or your local grab all store like hobby lobby or princess auto
Thanks and nice work
Also in my country those stands are found in electronic store( they use it for holding small electronic boards to work on it while soldering)
Thank you Brother
Very cool love itb
Good video. What clear coat do you use? It looks great.
That looks sick af
Thank you so much!
What do you use for clear coat? And how do you apply it?
I use Alumilte UV, I brush or dip depending on bait
If painting spinners can you use the createx water based paint? And do you spray on sealer with the airbrush?

Take the stickers off the table man. The focus going out the entire video makes it unwatchable! Scales look cool though. 😉
