Very Nice for a basic Kit its come up looking great Mick, and im sure that motor will be Cruising on a 2S lipo , that chassis is a little similar to the fighter rx the way the rear couples up to the chassis just the shocks are spaced a little different, yes defiantly will be looking for the running video on this little hot setup, and i agree they could leave more motor visible for cooling as well as a better visual for the Tamiya super stock Motors :-)), Great Video Here Mick .
Thanks Andrew. Yeah I think it came up looking good. Should be a bit of fun to run it, yeah 2s will help for sure. I guess the way they made the gearbox made it a little more solid, but I wish they'd have left the motor more exposed. Almost a waste of time putting a nice motor in if it can't be seen! lol. Glad you enjoyed the video mate! 👍
Do you recommend the hd3001hk servo. These days where everyone puts in digital metal gears? Is it just good enough for non racers or do you feel the difference even for 'simple fun' drives.
Most standard servos will be fine if you're just driving for a bit of fun, especially in a buggy like this one. If you've not used a high speed servo before you might not even notice how slow a standard servo is. I usually use standard type servos in these "hopper" style buggies and never have any issue with them. I say go for it! 👍
You can't beat the Rising Fighter for a starter kit! These were on sale a couple weeks ago for around $75 and I couldn't resist getting another one. I'm thinking about doing a Grasshopper theme, either a Rising Hopper or Grass Fighter :)

Hey do you think this thing handles better than the original hornet and what shocks can I buy fourth of friction campers I assume the TRFbut those cost a lot does anybody make a blue shock that will fit those that are oil filled?
I think it will handle much the same as a Hornet, maybe a little worse because it's quite high off the ground. Have a look at some Chinese shocks on ebay. I don't know the names of their brands, but they have plenty of oil filled alloy shock that will fit, and much cheaper than TRF shocks. The sizes you'll need are 70mm for the front and 90mm for the rear. I measured them from the centre of each mount hole. 👍
@@bradkalman2353 Possibly. Neither will ever handle great though, it's just not in their design. It will be a little less bouncy with the oil shocks, but the unsprung weight in the rear (which causes it to bounce on the tires) will always be there.

Hey bud. With the Tamiya motors. With the paperwork /manual it mentions with continuous running change from plastic bearings to metal bearings or something. Any ideas?
Hi Matt. I hadn't actually noticed that in the papers. I guess they're saying since they're a hotter motor it's best to use ball bearings in the car instead of the plastic/metal bushings. Plastic bearings especially tend to wear extremely quick and can sometimes melt depending on how fast your motor is. It's always best to use ball bearings when you build your car, they're quite cheap these days and the car will run much smoother. Hope this helps. 👍
@@RCHobbyShed yeah for a pimped motor you'd think they would install bearings. Then again who doesn't want to walk around with a bottle, needle and oil and lubricate things before a run!

You Done a Magnificent build and nice attention to detail mate!.
That motor looks sexy!
Good to see you using a stick radio!, Goes with the old school Tamiya theme👌.
A bit of Aussie engenuity with the custom motor test stand🇦🇺.
The Wild One in the background🤤My favourite!.
Mate that white cabinetry really makes the rc's stand out perfectly, it looks like an rc parking station at your place.
Who's the Gerbil Gobbler that gave this a thumbs down!.
After seeing your video I'd buy one, can't wait to see it running mate👌🦘🇦🇺
Thanks mate!
Oh yeah it's a nice looking motor, it's a shame it's mostly hidden in this buggy.
I like that 2HR, it's great to use and no frills. I use that one when I want feel like I'm in the 80's 😂.
Haha yeah, I usually hold everything to the bench with double sided tape but I got lazy.
Love the Wild One, I had new a vintage one years ago that I sold so to fill the void I got this new built rere.
Thanks, I wanted it to look like a nice display. I'd love glass cabinets like a hobby store but this will have to do me, at least for now.
I wish I new who that dirty Gerbil Gobbler is. Been going on for a long time now, obviously a subscriber and I'm guessing another channel because who else would feel they're gaining something from it? I just yawn and move on, at least I get their view! 😂
I think it should be a bit of fun, it's gonna bounce all over the shop but that's half the fun with these "hopper" style buggies.
Cheers mate! 👍

Yeh I noticed in the past video's you used double sided tape, now this, I keep learning new tricks, thanks for sharing👍.
Imagine glass cabinets!, I'll keep dreaming lol. I have a few on a shelf with a beige wall but doesn't do anything to make them stand out, I reckon whites the best I've seen.
Yeh I don't get the thumbs down thing, if a person doesn't like something just move on,Yep I'd bet it's another channel too.
I've never given a thumbs down in my life.
I like that buggy, never was interested in it before but I'm going to get one, it a classic looking buggy.
@@outbackrcaustralia4895 No probs mate. I'm glad you get some ideas from my videos.
I've always dreamed of glass cabinets, but first I'm gonna need a big house lol.
I have the LED's under each shelf which really helps, when they're turned off it's very dark and gloomy. If you add LED's it will make a huge difference to your shelves.
Yeah the thumb down comes and goes, they hit 5 in a row then go away for a week or two then hit a few more videos. It's been going on for well over a year, so it's somebody with an agenda. Whatever their agenda is they're failing at it though, after all this time I'm still not going anywhere. Especially while they're butthurt about my channel, I'll just make more and more videos🤣.
It does have that classic look about it, no doubt the handling will be very classic too! 😂
The idea of watching, was to find out 1 the kit 2 performance out the box.
How old is this kid the one I saw is going to have the same speed controller.
It was released in 2008. 👍
And yet I can still buy a brand new inbox kit at my hobby store so are they still making the kit?
@@bradkalman2353 I don't know if they're still making it. Mine was all stock. 👍
These cars are much better if you use shorter cvas on the rear as it gets rid of that awful stance. Also grab one of the chassis braces on from ampro
That wheelbase looks shorter than a fighter buggy RX.
My one didn’t come with a receiver
That's right, they don't come with a receiver or servo. 👍
@@RCHobbyShed oh thanks bro I was getting confused 😂
@@lifeislonely3809 All good mate! 😁👍
@@RCHobbyShed 😁😁
Really? Super Stock BZ into this? You must make video, the motor will rip it to the parts. 😄😄😄
Haha, nah it will be fine. It's only a 23t motor. Should be fun! 👍
@@RCHobbyShed It will be fun, we must see it.
I can get this buggy for like 94 US dollars at my hobby store.
That seems like a reasonable price. 👍
@@RCHobbyShed I like to be able to email you because I really would like to know what the length of shocks are on again of the rising fighter if things go according to plan I will be buying that kit too after I get the grasshopper to black edition.
Tra le più brutte Tamiya mai create
Yeah it's not the best looking Tamiya! 🤣👍
I've been going with core RC brushed motors. 21 turn in my cat xls. 15 turn in my Traxxas bandit. And another 21 turn in my still to be built kyosho turbo scorpion... At around $20 are nicely priced.. metro hobbies in Melbourne stock them. Not sure if stocked in other shops in Oz.
I have seen those Core motors, they look pretty good for the money. I believe they have a 15t as well, great bang for the buck! 👍
@@RCHobbyShed recently got that 15 turn version for the secondhand Traxxas bandit I bought. Stock gearing though. May go higher in gearing. once I know what temps it runs at..
Jessica, the Core RC 15t motor has an inbuilt cooling fan built into the can and it runs without any overheating problems. I run 15t's I most of my builds and they are a reliable motor. 👍
