Have to add one of these to my ever-growing stash. One of the many things that I enjoy about Andy is his enthusiasm. He is so excited about this hobby and the products he is producing. His joy in the art and craft of modeling is so evident.
Andy, having be part of a restoration crew able to work on a M3 while assigned to a military museum I was blown away by the detail that this model has. Thanks for all your hard work. The detail of the engine is unbelievable.
A Hellcat would be great, however I would like to see more early-war stuff. Pre-1943 AFVs & most soft-skin vehicles are under-represented in 1/16 scale, e.g.M4A1 Shermans, Pz. Kpfw. IV Ausf. D or E, Maltilda, M3 Lee/Grant, KV-1, etc., as well as all sorts of trucks. Also, the iconic German 88....
@@brandonkew9122it’s pretty remarkable how affordable 1/16 kits are when you consider the detail and amount of plastic. I’ll keep building 1/35 armor and 1/48 planes, but I’m definitely gonna be focusing more on 1/16 armor and 1/32 planes. Even at my young age of 29 my eyes and dexterity is already declining noticeably. Plus some of those more complex camo patterns are so much easier to airbrush in large scale.
YES!!!... Fantastic! I had the Trumpeter M16 back in the day and sold it because it was garbage. I'm grateful you are putting out a good kit of this important vehicle!
@@jamescharlton924No, you can make a nice kit out of it. But, it has almost no chassis and suspension detail, brittle steel chassis rails and just required an awful lot of sanding and filling screw holes, trumpeter mould lines (heavy on this). This is a much better kit. On every aspect.
The great thing about the Das Werk 1/16th kits are their affordability compared to what Trumpeter prices charge for theirs. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a 1/16th Flakvierling 38 and maybe a Flak 88 too.
Agreed! In fact, I would LOVE to see AndysHHQ, Das Werk, Takom, Classy Hobby, etc release their own versions of Pz. Kpfw. IVs (*) (**), Panthers (**), King Tiger (**), T34/76 and /85s, etc without full interiors (although I would prefer if all Pz. Kpfw. III & IV kits still have full interior details for the turrets) Also, your suggestions are great, e.g. Flakvierlings (halftrack mounded 1x20mm, 4z20mm & 1x37mm) and the 88mm flak guns with a halftrack capable of pulling the 88. (*) especially early war versions, e.g. Pz. Kpfw. IV Ausf. D/E/F1, but also an F2, and an H (**) (**) with zimmerit...
Well done Andy, like your superb M113, you have another certain best seller on your hands. What an influence on this hobby you are having, kudo to you & your team.
Looks great andy! I cant wait to get mine. Hopefully someone will make a quad .50 cal anti aircraft turret to go with this kit. The tamiya kit was my favorite armor kit when i was much younger.
Perfect addition to my growing collection of 1/16 kits!!! Hoped this was coming soon and my wish came true!!! As soon as I got the video announcement… I preordered before I watched the video!!! LOL
I did the Trumpeter version of this in 1/16 scale. It was ok for Trumpeter and its year of production but I'm willing to bet that this AHHQ version will exceed expectations in its design and details. Looking forward to build this one.
I hope this also means some of the versions based on the m3 halftrack might make an appearance at some point. Like the T-30 or M3 GMC. But ya, that model looks sexy. Totally a must buy from me.
Yeaaaaaaaahhh!!!🥳 THIS was what I was hoping for! My plastic-prayers have been heard🙏🏻 Thank you very much for this one Andy! Or this two… Because I like to build an Ambulance-version with closed tarp but ofcourse also one version with all that beautiful detail visible🤩 All the best for you and your loved ones ❤️ With kind regards from Holland, Folkert
The wheel rim is the same as the M8, the tire is just a slightly smaller size. So glad you went for all plastic wheels, looks so much better than rubber. Ah.. 😢 rubber band tracks. No, hoped for a dragon 1/35 scale solution. Takes stress off suspension and allows for prototype like tight bends. Hope you will reconsidder. I’d pay extra for plastic molded tracks. Suspension looks very accurate. No comparison to the Trumpeter. Other detail as well. Nice to see the moulds still need to be polished, that’s why the clear is not clear yet and you can still see slight swirl marks from the machining on the flat plate parts. Thank you for making this Andy! Highly wanted
Great job. Looks WAY better than the Trumpeter kit. I think if you put together a stand alone accessory kit with multiple .30cal and .50 cal guns, they would sell on their own. A lot of the hobbyists that customize 1/16th scale RC vehicles would love those highly detailed MGs for our tanks.
@@AndysHobbyHeadquarters I RECOMEND WPL CARS THEY HAVE CRAWLERS IN 1/14 AND THE SPARES FIT ON THIS TANK SURE THE TRASMISION WHIT THE DIFERENCIALS A SMALL ELECTRIC MOTOR AND ITS DONE ALSO THE STERINGWAIT I SEND YOU LINKS
Let’s go!!!! Paving season needs to come soon so I can start catching up on the great large scale kits coming out right now! Looks like another amazing kit Andy, can’t wait to see what’s next!
Looks nice and on my wish list. My only criticism is that all the exterior armor panel screw's slots are perpendicular in the same direction and not having some in in a random direction . Factory fresh maybe they are like that but the ones I've seen not so much. Minor to some but very noticeable to me.
I am hoping someone from the aftermarket realm will make a distributor cap and spark plug wire kit. That would bring the engine detail to the next level. Cuz without those that vehicle aint going anywhere! Probably need battery cables also.
Wow! I headed out to shovel the driveway, and returned to see a third great kit being announced by Andy! What a great day to be a 'mediocre modeller'! FWIW, this is a kit I have been hoping Andy would offer, so I am thrilled to see it! (pity my bank account..but it will be an instant purchase! lol). Also, IMHO, this kit could provide a springboard for offering other versions (...with 75mm gun, as a mortar carrier, with an AA 4x50cal., etc....), plus it would have a lot of parts in common with an M3 Scout Car, so a Scout Car could be offered in the future (hint, hint...lol). Bottom line: It looks incredible, and I am super-excited! :) QUESTIONS: (a) I noticed that the slots in the screw heads all around the exterior of the vehicle are all aligned in the exact same direction (straight up & down). Will the final version have them aligned in more realistic (random) directions, or are they a feature that the builder installs & can ensure that the screw heads have random orientations? (b) Will it be possible to pose the front wheels as if the halftrack is turning? (c) Is the suspension for the tracked portion workable? (d) I don't know if it's too late to offer input regarding the decals, but I think that, like many U.S.-made WWII AFVs, the M3/M3A1 was somewhat ubiquitous in all theatres of the war, and was used by nations other than the U.S.A. (e.g. the Soviet Red Army & western Allies, and I also wonder if it was used in the Korean War) So, it would be awesome if the decals & painting suggestions reflected the range of theatres & nations that used the M3/M3A1.
Can't wait to get this kit!! I assume they'll be adding the 'White' logo on the left side of the engine block. It looks like there's little dimples to accommodate this.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... Interiors for the M4A3E8's and Tiger please!!! :D In the meantime this will be added to my stash! :) Just some notes... More Garand's would be nice, and cant help noticing the random texture on the seat cushions is the same on all of them. Would be nice if they were different and actually random. The same is true for all the screw heads being left in the same orientation. I have no idea if that's how they are in real life and could easily be fixed, but if not, it would be nice if they were random too
Andy, we really need someone to produce M5 halftrack in 1/35 scale. There's none on the market so far and these were the main type used by Commonwealth forces. Lot of atractive schemes from Italy and NW Europe.
Hi Andy, you're a little late to my party with this one. I already built the trumpeter 1/16th M16 halftrack and I just don't have room for another. Looks like a nice kit though! I remember the tamiya 1/35th version
Only one thing wrong with the mouldings is that the bolts and slot head screws all face the same way. In the real world there is nothing symmetrical. Apart from that it looks a great kit.
Andy! Congratulations but!...... How about some British armour? A Cromwell/Churchill/Crusader/Daimler scout car..... There's a huge hole in the 1/16 market regarding the above
We need some big trucks next, both German and Allied. Also the big German halftrack would be good too,Imagine having two coupled together towing a Tiger!

You're killing me. You keep releasing these faster than I can build them.

Andy, having be part of a restoration crew able to work on a M3 while assigned to a military museum I was blown away by the detail that this model has. Thanks for all your hard work. The detail of the engine is unbelievable.
Stunning model Andy. Your 1/16 range is outstanding.
Can't believe each one gets better and better.
Fantastic addition to the 1/16 community Andy. Next up let’s get a Hellcat Tank Destroyer please.
I also think a Hellcat would sell like hotcakes.
