"Rolling Down the Street, In My Katamari" - Fearofdark WaveTracker Cover

- I covered an excerpt of Fearofdark's "Rolling Down the Street, In My Katamari" in my own software, called WaveTracker. It was originally part of a public performance, where I intentionally left some lead parts out so I could play synth solos on top.
I finally got around to cleaning up and finishing it, so here it is! I think it's one of the better demonstrations of what this program can do.

0:25 the pitch bends in this part sound so good
Very faithful to the original while sounding a little more clean. Very nice! Looking forward to seeing more of what this tracker can do.
im curious what you mean by "more clean." this is a fantastic cover though
@@dade1603i feel the same. Its mixed different. In the Original its hard to tell all the elements apart while in this Cover each Instrument has its own place in the mix. Not sure which one i prefer since the original feels more chiptune ish while this one is very digital sounding. Both are amazing versions
@@Apticx lmao chiptune isn't digital bro? XD
I think you wanted to say this feels like an more "updated" version, or simply a faithful recreation, a good cover.
Different Synths = Different vibes.
@@gyrotzdigital might have been the wrong word since i call chiptune hardware but thats also because i always use original hardware for playback.
@@Apticx How do you differ real chiptune from software emulated one? Is it even possible by ear? (I'm not fighting here, I find this really cool :)
guys I have a feeling he is not releasing wavetracker
sounds like somthing you would hear in a toby fox game
FoD's a bloody genius but I love what you've done with this, it's really spiced it up :)
You gotta listen to the swing version!! FoD even commented under it saying it was better than the original 😁
absolutely masterful cover
Loving the visualisations for the performance oriented effects!
this is truly amazing
0:24 always gives me chills
I get this song on my spotify at work daily. This brings a smile to my face, thank you
this is awesome! i love how much smoother it sounds in contrast to the harsher beats of fear's software. sounds great!
Very interesting visualization, pretty cool!
This is a Beautiful Cover!!!!!
This has been my obsession since my friend showed it to me like 2 weeks ago. It's so damn good.
love this cover, sounds awesome and is definitely on par with the original, hopefully you can make your own songs in this program dude!
This tracker looks so good just in its visualization and sounds super nice and clean. Really hope we get to try it sometime. Certainly looks amazing. Also obviously great job on the cover.
I love this!
Not sure how this doesn’t have more views this shit bangs
Hearing this in stereo feels like heaven
This would be absolutely perfect if the last minute was completed!!!
perfect

Heavenly
wowww that's great
I love this base part contains ghost notes arrange❤
Ah yes, Wavetracker! I remember watching your video of your with your own tracker, but I forgot what it's name
If i can load generic samples into this and create delicious waveforms I'll probably switch over from milkytracker moving forward. Great tune and really interesting piece of software!
Is this WaveTracker software available publicly yet? I really enjoyed this cover by the way.
im the 1000th like of this video. Insane song

@@HUEHUEUHEPony when*

Sounds awesome! Is this software available to the public, and if not, are you planning to release it?
Thank you! It's not available yet, but I do plan to release it yes!
@@squiggythings sounds good! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Super impressive! With the original sounding like it was made for a pretty old console, it almost gives me the idea that if the og was for an actual game and they remastered it on something with a slightly more advanced sound system, this is exactly what it would sound like.
Holy shit this is beautiful
take my fucking like and subscribe
i kinda like this better
Incredible work! I am very interested to know how you performed his solos since that's something I'm working on myself. I find FOD's music tricky to perform live because it has all these fast runs only a chip could pull off, and he adds a lot of expressiveness through glisses and articulations. (And especially in his NES music, he tends to switch quickly between different "instruments" even in the same melody line.) So I'd really like to know you handled it!
It certainly wasn't easy! The performance was me on lead synth and a pianist playing live while the tracker was running on a projector screen behind us. I actually transposed the synth up one semitone so I'd be playing in E, just to make some of the runs easier on my fingers. Even then, there were some more arp-heavy parts I decided to let the tracker play to showcase it's sound, like the second solo at 2:52. By far the hardest part I had to play was the solo right before at 2:34. There are a lot of very fast runs in there but as long as you start practicing at a really slow tempo, and then slowly increase the tempo, making sure you stay accurate, it's 100% doable.
Hi, will wavetracker ever be released to the public?
Yes! I plan on releasing at some point in the near future. I am quite busy right now so it’s slow going but I definitely want to have it available for anybody to use.
@@squiggythingsAWESOME!!!
@@squiggythings will it be under an open source licence, or will it be proprietary?
@@squiggythings If you made it open source I'd give you $10,000,000 if I had that kind of money-we need more trackers that aren't just OpenMPT or based off Amiga software.
I request a midi of this (if you can of course)
how do i get this software?
It has copyright? Wanna use it in a yt video.
