@@synthmalicious7541 In most tracker songs, almost all instruments have their relative notes set-off. FearofDark's tracker songs are in correct notes but sometimes, in incorrect octaves.

I can not get over how human-sounding this music is. The melody has accents, inflections, and pitch-shifts. It’s as if you can hear someone singing. That, combined with the reverb and chorus effects, gives this an uncharacteristically warm vibe. Truly a remarkable work of chiptune.

This is one of those songs where the opening is really nice and relaxing, and while I love the rest of the song there's that little part of me that wishes the whole song was JUST that opening.
Many people got the nostalgia rush on the lo-fi intro, but I personally got it from the main part of the song (especially the hook 01:19 or 01:51) because it reminds me of "neon 80's Japanese culture", you know, things like old-ass off-model anime with pastel color and the early Megami Tensei games. That kinda vibe.

I like how calm and relaxing it is at first like you're in the freeway, coasting along with no limits. And when it gets to that part in the middle OH BOY. Its like you just drove into a cybernetic New York city and is cruising at the a remarkable speed while you're looking at the bustling city do its work. This is godly.
I came very late to the party, wanting to know what this is about, and I was blown away by this piece. Whoever you are, Fearofdark, continue making these bangers, whatever your dream is, don't give up, and follow it like a champ.
Imagine the internet dies, and your computer turns off, but your screen appears the offline dinosaur, running, scrolling credits of your every internet friend you've met slowly.
this should be like this, the computer turns off,and theres a text that says"we'll meet again" and a pixelatic stickman slowly walking and theres a credit
I listened to this video a bunch when I was a kid, then a few years ago I rediscovered this song on Spotify and it changed my playlists for the better. Turns out I’ve been a Fearofdark fan for longer than I thought
Perhaps at a lower resolution it's not obvious somehow. It's only a factor of two, either it's one speed or twice as fast. What makes it so imperceptible is that most of the music doesn't change its overall rhythm, so in the "faster" sections you'll see most of the harmony stretched out with rests in between them.
@@musicmancer thanks for the info musicmancer. Also Brandon, while I appreciate the input. The rudeness is not appreciated, it's a little hard for me to tell the difference in speed for the song. Bro this song put me in a different feel man. I can't love this song more. It has a nostalgic feel as someone said and let's say you had a journey of some sort. This is like a recall of everything you have done to get here. The good, the bad, all sorts of things. But you made it. you made it here, this very moment. You emerged from the journey triumphant with all your goals completed and you have ridded all your problems. That's my example for this song. It feels so good.
It's been years since I listened to your jams as my music taste changed over time. However, I'll never forget the influence these tracks had on my life since then. I'm proud to say your music was a pivotal point of my life.
I really want to be able to write music like this someday, it has so much melodic quality throughout the whole thing! Not to mention the seamless transition from the beautiful intro into the groovy part. The entire song is truly a piece of art, 100/10!
I've always been fascinated at how programmers would write music on older systems. Such an interesting way of making music its fascinating. I just pluck strings and sing but this is amazing. I was never much into songs on the radio growing up and always liked videogame music because of its simplistic nature but natural depth you can get with multiple channels.
The old school video games music(and chiptunes, like this) is made in software called trackers. Most tracked songs sounded a little bit different depending on the computer you had and what sound card you had installed in your system. Check out a tracker, they're pretty easy to use and quite rad. You can even hook up a guitar to them as a midi instrument and play music, like anamanagucci
I made the comment because terminal montage is in the comment section, and I enjoyed his mega man x video as well as this song, so if you have an issue with my comment I ask you kindly ignore it and continue with your day. Thank you
My favorite part of this song is that it appeals to all of those times when you feel downtrodden and unable to do a thing, and then turns all of those feelings over, clumps them into a ball, and throws them out of the window. I know that a lot of people religiously listen to only the beginning of this song, but what makes this song even better is that once you've repeated the beginning enough, you learn to appreciate the rest of the song (if you didn't already, that is). The ball of negativity that was thrown out before comes back, but converted into a positive and lively tune, as if the melancholy previously diregarded metamorphosed into a butterfly of sound. It's such an uplifting song, even despite the fact that is has no lyrics. Then again, it never really needed them.
If you liked this, you'll love Focus. They're a Swedish Prog Rock band from the 70s. They're the most underrated rock band, and possibly even the best one to ever exist. No lyrics, just pure music. Best albums: "Moving Waves", "Focus 3", "Hamburger Concerto", and "Focus 8.5"
I often feel bummed I was born too early to explore the stars, and too late to explore the unknown Earth. Discovering a nice jam like this made a decade ago by a random small channel has made me further realize how fun exploring the internet, the sum creations of billions of people to be explored at my leisure.
born just on time to explore the internet. think about it, nobody in history has ever browsed the internet to see what they can find except us. it's a shame this isn't the 2000s anymore when everything was uncharted territory, but we can still find a lot of weird and interesting things online
@@GY-bd9bo Yeah, we always want what we don't have. The future. The past. As time progresses new things come around, but there's less to explore, but sometimes a new thing provides tons of new places to explore. I think we all miss ignorance, because ignorance is bliss. As a kid the internet was so mysterious, unexplored, and infinite. Now I basically just watch youtube, google random questions, and of course watch... Documentaries. And every website I ever go on is one I've already been to. In the last we didn't know what the whole world was, we could have ideas, and we could go explore it, but now everywhere has been explored, I know the continents, and many of the cultures of the world, and I could tour the planet without ever leaving my room. Only place left to really explore is the entire universe. Let's go to Mars bro.
@@ashleylastname9091 i suppose that's the eternal human curse. maybe we'll explore mars, but after a couple generations, there will be nothing to explore and they'll be in our position at the moment.
@@GY-bd9bo Will they? Do you have any idea how much easier it will be to launch exploratory vessels from a Mars base? The gravity is so low, a base atop Olympus Mons could jump a ramp and get into orbit by car lol. I'm trying to say I disagree, I think when we are on Mars that's just the first pebble falling before the avalanche of exploration and expansion.
I have been looking for this FOR SO LONG, all I had to do was watch The Pelones Review and I would finally find it. Oh my god how happy I am right now is difficult to say in words (and express) but I am so glad I finally found it. I last heard of this song like 3 years ago, I feel joy knowing I won’t forget ever forget this song’s name again.
This music has a rare special quality to it. I see many others have said that it has a nostalgic feeling despite it not really connecting to anything. There is something about this music that makes me reflect on my life. The introduction makes me warm yet sad. I don’t know why, it just gives me a specific special feeling that I have only felt a few times. This feeling that makes my life play out before me. This has become a special piece of music for me and I listen to calmly open my mind.

After every knowledgeable being was gone, the computer was the smartest thing in the world. Resting in a server, built to last, waiting countless years in solitude for a command. It was not built for anything else. It understood what it was told. It didn't think, it didn't believe - it only processed. A thousand years of time had aged it, but on and on it waited. Any moment a command could be sent, and it would be ready. On the darkest night in history, the server began to crumble. It was built for time, but not eternity. The computer, even when humanity was around, did not ever expect a command. It expected nothing. Somehow, though, it knew. Beyond all possibility, beyond all science, through a mystery only it would ever understand, it knew that its time was through. And so, it sang.
This sounds like something you'd hear at the end of a long and enthralling game and we're being shown where the character's lives are during the end credits.

The fact that the program toggles between two speeds without any real audible difference is just mind-blowing.
Do you happen to know the difference when it is switched between the two different speeds? Also time stamps would be nice if possible
Iago, just watch the video. It's pretty obvious. You're sking someone else to do legwork when you could just look with your fucking eyes.
While asking for time stamps may have been a bit too much, it seemed like musicmancer knew the answer. So when you do answer someone you don't have to be so rude, hope you have a nice day.

Here, a comment for a well deserved comment.
Why do everyone in these comments be vining so much
The intro has to be by far the best part of the song

I often feel bummed I was born too early to explore the stars, and too late to explore the unknown Earth. Discovering a nice jam like this made a decade ago by a random small channel has made me further realize how fun exploring the internet, the sum creations of billions of people to be explored at my leisure.
Hey! Vsauce, Michael here. Where are your fingers?
born just on time to explore the internet. think about it, nobody in history has ever browsed the internet to see what they can find except us. it's a shame this isn't the 2000s anymore when everything was uncharted territory, but we can still find a lot of weird and interesting things online
