      This. All this talk of "legally impossible" is really not much more than copium for those who don't want it to happen. It does give the US a justification to take action against states that secede, but that's it. One of the main reasons why states like Texas and California don't actually consider secession is because of the practical benefits to staying in the Union. Things like free and unfettered trade from neighboring states, mutually assured protection on both domestic soil as well as for citizens abroad, and access to federal US institutions. I mean, the main naval base for the US Pacific Fleet is in San Diego, and NASA's main facilitiy for human spaceflight, Johnson Space Center, is in Houston. In the event of secession of really either of these states, what are they going to do about these crucial facilities?

Yes, it's a donor state, but much of that high GDP is related to electronics and Texas benefited greatly from NASA's presence. Sort of like how, yes, the Carolinas had a thriving textile industry, but only AFTER Congress gave tax incentives for northern capital to move south and manufacture clothing in the same counties that the cotton was picked in.

But I never lost electricity nor did my son and his wife. We live close to Dallas. My daughter and family lost power a couple days only. My grandson and wife close to Austin did not lose electricity.

      British Columbia is independent for electricity. We maintain interties to the "western grid" mostly for exporting power and theoretically we could import power so we're kind of "part of it" but if everywhere else was to cut off their power links to BC we would still be able to keep the lights on all we'd do is lose out on power sales. Within BC BC maintains its own grid operated by the BC Gov through BCHydro

    Texas is actually very independent and self sufficient in many ways. One including the fact no outside state power lines run through Texas, they produce there own power and electricity for the entire state. Texans consider themselves Texans first and Americans second. They have their own way of life, lots of very unique cities and locations, as a native NY"er I love it down there anytime I visit.

      1) then why is New York City considered by most the culture capital of the world i went and I heard Chinese,Russian, Spanish then an English and gay couples all walk one behind the other you can’t deny that New York has its own culture and so does every one of the states sure I can’t deny that every state was a country before but most states are self reliance example your enemy California and most east and west coast states (hence why NYC is the countries biggest city) because it’s so self reliant

    • @SilverCinder1
      @SilverCinder1 5 лет назад +5

      @@anotheraccount2052 because new York city is one city with a lot of cultures mixed together. I said Texas is pretty much it's own culture together. I've lived in Chicago and in new York at different points in my life and they both were very similar. They were both northern cities and felt very similar and even had similar accents. Texas is a state like no other. New York has different people with different languages and dialects, so? That doesn't mean new York has its own culture. That means it has many cultures living together in a city life.
