      I love how you left out that Mexico invaded the republic of Texas 3 times in the 9 years of being it's own country. That's what made them go bankrupt. Also all the anglos that settled in Texas were Mexican citizens and half of the revolt included tejonos fighting against Santana. Also Mexico rebelled against Santana for two years before the Texas revolution started.

      Have you thought about doing a vid about Canada's provinces? We are having a near crisis of Confederacy right now between BC and Alberta and it seems to only be heating up with our PM and federal leader of the NDP (the two parties in charge of each province) also taking a major hands off approach. We rarely get noticed by folks but be super fun to see your animation style go over it :)

      It was put there to associate itself with the Republic of Texas, as they were both American Style Republics that broke away from Mexican Rule. Them both having a lone star was not a mere coincidence, but was intentional. Texas and California both share the same indomitable spirit of the Wild West- rugged individuality, freedom, and a totally unique style. Somebody can look, act, and dress 'Californian'. and somebody can look, dress, and act 'Texan'. Both states have their own paradigms and identities, various distinct geographical, cultural, and economic regions, and an enormous amount of territory and population. Essentially, while still being mostly American at heart, California and Texas are their own nations.

      diego contreras Slavery was actually one of the smallest factors of the Texan Revolution. The bigger ones included their exorbitant tax rates and the denial of equal rights compared to what the Mexican government defined as “true” Mexican citizens. Secession was a net benefit for everyone living in Texas at the time.

    • @asaltofsomething
      @asaltofsomething 3 года назад +9

      @@EsotericTucker ...no, slavery played a larger role than you think. While not the largest factor, you can't deny that the right to own slaves was a key part of the Texan Constitution, since that clause (along with Mexico still claiming Texas) prevented Texas from joining the United States for nearly ten years. Most Texan schools don't teach kids this, and only that Mexicans were being jerks. Which admittedly they were, but the American settlers weren't so squeaky clean either.

    • @wallstreetotaku750

      @@EsotericTucker early American Texans were allowed to live in the region and over time outnumbered the tejanos. More and more Americans settlers came over but when the Mexican govt tried to ban Anglo immigration, they got pissed. I would even say that a good chunk Texans are descendants of illegals (oh the irony). Also the ban on slavery in 1830 by Mexico clashed with the Americans desire to preserve chattel slavery so while not it wasn’t the sole factor for revolution it was important one. Also when you tend to outnumber the native population you feel like you own the place so another part it was the cultural differences and just the lack of respect they had for the Mexican govt.
      like any country or nation, it’s history is not black and white.
      The Texan revolution was not the Texans standing up for the Mexican govt for moral and just reasons anyone can see that with a little studying. However, Texan individuality today is great but lets remember history through unbiased lens.

      Quite true.
      Spain and then Mexico always underestimated too much to the north, so much so that in fact the state of Coahuila and Texas were the poorest in the whole country. Even today in northern Mexico the culture of our region has not been very promoted, reaching such a point that many believe that we are an empty desert, without indigenous people or culture of our own. Although we are much better than before (for an example Coahuila is no longer the poorest, he is one of the richest) but without reaching the level of California or Texas at all

And to top it all off, liberal leftist elites either like live in or are from generally the SRC. And they decided to put broccoli on pizza for christ sake! • @ssssaa2
      @ssssaa2 6 лет назад +23

      It is but a small fraction of the US economy. It is more important than any of the other states, but 49 would remain in the union. Also it would harm California far more then the rest of the USA because it would be losing it's connection to 49 other states and the other states would simply be losing connection to 1 other state. California is not large enough to be the center of something worthwhile on its own, it's definitely true Hollywood silicon valley etc. would dry up immediately without american's from elsewhere coming in, and some new location would pop up in the rest of america immediately to draw in talented Americans.
      California would be a respectable middling member of the G20 but not a top tier power, USA would remain fairly close to where it is now.
      Realistically a scenario in which California was leaving the United States would probably mean something far greater was going on, maybe total disintegration of the USA, which would be a major major change to North America and a big deal internationally too.

    Fun fact about California, I live in nevada county, in a town called Nevada city. Before nevada became a state, my town was called Nevada. But once the state became a thing, they just added city to the name for less confusion.

      Bruno R Well each US state has its own constitution, its own laws, its own culture, its own government, its own capitol its own senate and house system separate from national, its own reserved rights pretty much entirely like individual countries that are not soverign. Also individual states are more well known than each “regions” in those countries. Also each states has its own regions so in many ways it would make sense to just add state flags. I also agree it would be absurd to add regions of smaller countries just like how it would be absurd to add the flags of regions and cities in each state. Maybe even add Canadian provinces idk

    • @oblo7389
      @oblo7389 4 года назад +18

      eggrollsoup Italy here. Each region has its own constitution. Each region has its own capitol. Each region has its own parliament. Each region has its own president. Each region has its own culture. Each region has its sub-regions, called Province. We even have “special statute” regions, like Sicily, which are theoretically in a peer’s agreement with the state. Vermont has 625.000 inhabitants. Sicily has 5.000.000. Again, why should US states be treated differently than federal states or regions throughout the world? I can’t stand this American exceptionalism....
