yes, correct…because we didn’t care about the characters, their deaths didn’t feel weighty. Its not automatically high stakes because someone died. Jecki was coming really close to being a character we could care about and before that happens she’s unceremoniously killed. We WANT to care more, but it hasnt happened that way. Still coming back for more and hoping for the best.
I have watched both you and Jenny react over the years so I can say definitively that there's not a drop of racism sexism or homophobia and either one of you so for the first time I've seen true constructive criticism that's not based on bigotry! But in saying that I have to respectfully disagree with you all Not only was the action fantastic but this again is a mystery so on one hand you all are basically saying I'm not invested or care about it but I want to know what the Jedi actually did! And obviously in a mystery they're not going to come out and reveal right away the answer they're going to give you Drip by drip so you can speculate and theorize what the official outcome will be! And this is not a video game so I have no issue with them editing the fight scenes the way they did instead of having one continuous lightsaber battle! It's obviously that Master Soul did something he clearly regrets and she said they brainwashed her so I believe that it was actually OSHA that started whatever the hell happened, and that Master Soul wiped her memory with a Jedi mind trick and implanted false memories! Because they did say before she fell what did you do! I also believe because of what I've seen in the trailers that the witches did take over at least Tobin's mind and he and kilnaca fought, and that's how he got the scar on his face! So the point being they're not going to reveal the big reveal until the very end that's the whole idea of a mystery if they were to go ahead and explain everything now, so that you would quote feel emotionally invested there would be no point to the rest of the series cuz again it's a mystery you're not supposed to know until the very end how things went down and who is the quote good guy and who is quote the bad guy! But again I respect your opinions because this is totally subjective like everything one person's pie is another person's poison to each his or her own and simply Different Strokes for different folks I try to watch as many different reactors to gauge the very opinions on people who clearly are not right Wingers who hated the diversity in the show or clay with Star Wars is gay or this killed Star Wars or oh no they're using pronouns or oh look there's a token white man or oh this is the feminist agenda! I don't waste my time dealing with those bigots. But I figured I had to comment on people that I respect but again have to respectfully disagree! No once the reveal is finally made at the end if you still feel that it was a let down or anticlimactic! I think that's you expecting something that was never promised! It's like a little kid whining that they didn't get a pony for Christmas cuz they expected to get one, when no one ever said they were going to get one! It was the same with it being quote Mephisto and wandervision or a crossover of Wanda's brother from the X-Men, and the ensuing disappointment from so many fans who once again were never led to believe that's what was going to be the outcome they simply had expectations that weren't fulfilled that they built up on their own! And then we're disappointed and I think I see that within your reaction! Clearly Master Soul has Darkness within him, any almost Unleashed it by the heading Qimer. But OSHA stopped him perhaps his Darkness came out during his confrontation with the witches and there was no one there to reel him back in! As of now Master Soul and may are the only people that know the Sith still exists! So for me it's a wait and see and I'll make my final determination at the end of the series but up until now it clearly is not my favorite but it's also not the worst! And I didn't expect everything to be revealed in the fifth episode of 8! So I wasn't disappointed, as you two clearly were!
Boy, that was a lot, i agree with 99% of what you said. I am too enjoying the show. Next episode we might get another flashback and learn more about how far the Jedi can go.
I dont understand your reaction to him saying "I have no name.... but a Jedi like YOU would call me Sith". He literally said he isn't Sith but the Jedi will call him one anyways
He most certainly did not say he isn't Sith. In fact, he did the exact opposite. The whole "people would call me (insert badass title)" thing is actually more of a brag than an obfuscation.
@@Fear_the_Nog no he was saying that the Jedi are so blind and think only they can be right and there's only a good and bad, Jedi and Sith, that they would just ASSume he's a Sith...he wouldn't have used the words he used if he didn't mean what me meant...
@@DUBSandChubb It's confirmed by Leslye Headland in an interview a few days ago that Qimir is a Sith Lord already. While that can be a PR misdirect, before it is proven to be, it is taken at face value. Until the final episode airs and her words are indeed proven to be false, the topic is moot. But, no, at most, what Qimir says is a double entendre. It can be interpreted both ways. It literally makes very little sense your logic, actually. The specific WAY he said it, after a pause and a breath, to emphasize Sith, as if to give that word reverence and respect, is not how you would try to convey the sentiment of "I'm just a normal guy but you lot will bad-name-call me anyway!" No, he is giving far too much reverence to how he said that word emotionally and tonally for him to actually mean "no, I'm not THAT." Also, why would he specifically call it out? The Jedi in fact does NOT have a history in any of the lore of just lumping all non-Order Force users together into a label of "Sith." The Jedi Order has a very specific designation of what Sith is. They have never just called anyone that word. They know that it is a specific lineage of Jedi that splintered off that is that word. The entire premise that the Jedi would just call anyone non Jedi Sith is not a tenable premise.
@@Fear_the_Nog I mean sure she Leslie did say that so we know that he is, but he did say in the episode “the JEDI would call me Sith” which means it’s more or less up for interpretation to the characters present. ofc sol would never fully confirm that cause we know what happened in ep 8, and anyone sent after quimir after the series finale prolly ends up dead (prolly along with himself). also just a last note, if anyone did manage to get back then it’s entirely possible that quimir would be written off as a “fallen Jedi/dark Jedi” it’s not exactly unheard of in the pre phantom menace era. Like there were a few other instances of Jedi (in legends) falling but never being classed as a Sith.
@@splatoonistproductions5345 I disagree that it would be up for interpretation given what we know about how the Jedi categorize the Sith. The Jedi consider the Sith a specific Order. The Jedi Order has a very specific definition of it as a distinctive sect of a religion and a lineage and in some historical cases a species. And that definition isn't up for Jedi interpretation. Non-Sith Dark Side users are considered Dark or Rogue Jedi, or even Grey Jedi (if you buy that sort of EU thing), not Sith. The Jedi Order has throughout its history very specifically delineated between those types of Dark Side users and specifically members of the Sith Order. So, if someone is merely a random Dark or Rogue Jedi, and not part of the Order of the Sith, by saying that "Jedi like you would call me Sith," that random Jedi would in fact be trying to claim to be something he isn't. And to your exact point, the Jedi are in fact SO rigid in their categorization of what the Sith is, that even if someone were to claim to be one, they'd logically rationalize it away. So from Qimir's standpoint, it does not make sense for him to bring that word Sith up at all if he in fact was trying to say that he isn't one but that Jedi would consider him to be one. Since the Jedi would do the exact opposite.
I see some people confused by Mae’s motivation - she was going to turn herself in to the Jedi when she thought it was just her and Qimir on Khofar. Once she realized her master was there her only thought was escape, she knew she was likely to be punished. If the Jedi arrest her then it’s game over like all those that got cut down.
from the moment she realized the master was here, mae abandoned her surrender plan bc to her, the jedi were already dead. being arrested by them and handcuffed is literally just her being doomed
How is it so lost on them that her master being there changed everything for Mae’s plan. Mae changed her mind because she knew her master was going to murder everyone including her.
@@Melodicroger why would she surrender now that she knows her master is about to murder them all and come after her next? obviously her only option is to find osha , try to get her to join her and leave. that’s what any person who is focused on survival would do.
@@TDhexada her motivations aren’t clear moment to moment - and people are explaining via interpretation/guess work. She is literally trying to kill Jecki (not trying to escape)…it’s a cool action scene tho. It’s really stark compared to other recent shows that do characterization so much better.
The plan was to hide from the master surrendering to the Jedi. When she realized the master was already there and knew she was there, the best line of action is to ask for forgiveness
@@Melodicroger i don’t disagree that she’s trying to kill jecki.. she still hates the jedi. but in order to escape she would’ve HAD to kill jecki. she was clearly outmatched to jecki and wasn’t going to be able to escape in that moment unless she killed her. that’s how i interpreted it.
Acolite episode 5 is the best star wars thing I have ever seen. These fights and choreography surpassed both the Phantom Menace movie and the clone wars episode.
His armor is Cortosis, it is more rare but weaker than Beskar. It aborbs energy, can disable lightsabers and block stuns. Cad Bane used Cortosis slugs to disable lightsabers.
I mean they spell it out for you with Mae to be honest. her idea was to go hand herself into Kelnacca, she cant because he's dead, so now the Jedi would think that Mae killed him, Qimir literally upon learning that Mae was gonna turn her back, kills Kelnacca quickly and frames Mae setting her up to be trapped between the Jedi and him. She's running away because she knows thats her only option throughout most of the episode, if she sticks around Qimir will just kill her, her hatred of the Jedi hasn't changed, her goal switches to try be with Osha but when even that doesnt happen all she has left is to try take away whats binding Osha and thats Sol, so I think next episode she's gonna try take out Sol to leave Osha in the same position Mae is in, Osha was right, mae is being selfish. I feel like Yord forgetting the bugs is a fair enough thing, he's just had the shock of his life of some unknown force wielder come out of no where with a Lightsaber and shit him right up along with murdering about 5 other Jedi in the process, why would he be thinking about bugs whilst trying to save Osha, the Sith is whats on his mind in that moment I do also feel like some of Qimir's dialogue isn't as bad as some are thinking for the Sith, he's not spilling *everything* necessarily, he's just answering as much as is needed for the moment, he's taunting and being jovial, mocking around Sol
This is a terrible reaction. All of your complaints feel forced and kinda contradictory. First, y'all are mad cause the reveal wasn't mysterious/surprising enough cause there wasn't enough build-up to it, but then y'all complain about Sol's mystery and not knowing about it, even tho it's clear they are building it up. So what's it gonna be? Do you want the mystery or not? Then there's the complaint about the action scene. This might be the best fight scene we've ever seen in all of Live Action Star Wars, and yet you guys find something to complain about, like the way it was cut. Tbh, the cuts were great, the change in battles kept you interested in both fights and who might be victorious in each of them, but y'all act like the cuts would take you out of the mood when in reality it makes you more intrigued by it. Then there's the bad guy's "defeat" by the insects which wasn't meant for him to lose, but for the heroes in the story to survive and fall back into safety, but then y'all say it was all for nothing even tho it helped them escape. As for the story, I can't say much about that. The story does need a lot of help, but thankfully this isn't an episode for story development, so y'all should've stopped trying to complain about that and instead enjoy the best lightsaber duel we've seen in live actions Star Wars.
Ok, out of the box theory: Qimir is Sol's brother that he doesn't remember because Sol left for the Jedi order at age 4 and doesn't remember him as a result. I think the Jedi may have sensed dark side in him ad refused to train him. I think that was the reason they made a point to have Sol mention when he went to the order and why Qimir doesn't want him reading his thoughts. And why Qimir says, "You don't remember me, do you?"
Well, listen. I get that Mae would be going back and forth cause all these things are happening so quickly. She just found out Osha is alive so she now has purpose, but her Sith master literally wants to kill her, so why would she wait for the Jedi and hope they win so she can surrender? If a powerful person who wants me dead and is near me, no matter the scenario, I’m getting the heck out of there. Forget surrendering.
@@tbirdguy1 I dont think her feelings about the jedi changed, just her goal, aka shifting from killing jedi for the sith's approval to escaping with Osha. When Osha was resisting joining Mae, she reminded her that the jedi she killed deserved it. It actually does make sense
I think she was acting out of personal convenience. She decided to surrender to the Jedi because she was looking for a place to hide from the master. When she found out that the master was already there she started panicking and tried to escape but was stopped by Jecki, then she tried to ask for forgiveness to the master, then she found herself alone with Osha hoping she would understand, and finally the best thing she could do to hide from the master was to switch places
Yeah, I don't think the jarring writing and performance do the best job reinforcing Mae's mindset, but I don't think it's a huge mystery. She's been pretty consistent in her hatred for the Jedi. The only temporary change was last week when she thought she figured out her best way to reunite with her sister. Her overall motivation is to get Osha back somehow, and how she does it doesn't really matter to her. If at some point she assumes Osha is not redeemable things could change.
literally lmfaoo they want all the answers rn when there’s 3 episodes left. imo this felt like a pen ultimate episode so i have a feeling the rest is going to be simply filling in all of the loose ties. the writing may not be the best but we’re still not done with the show.. so to be complaining that you aren’t being told everything in the halfway point of the show is actually hilarious to me😭
@@TDhexada Fights are only good because of the story behind them and you've admitted that the writing and characters are weak. Even boxing and ufc try to create a story for their big fights. Did people love rocky cause the punching looked good? no they loved it because the fight was the climax of a story.
I can tell how forced your guys’ hate is for this show. It’s not great, but it’s definitely not as bad as y’all are making it out to be. This doesn’t feel like an authentic reaction at all.
I think your expectations are unreasonable - as you said, they never made it a secret to the viewer. That doesn't mean we were supposed to be surprised, it's just the Jedi who didn't know. How could they know? They thought he was a nobody. Too many getting fixated on the fact you knew who the Sith was. Who cares? Is that why you're watching this show? It's not that type of story. We even know what happens 100 years later. What mystery did you expect?
I'm fairly sure that this is what is happening: The Sith lord of this time period is a guy named Darth Tenebrous. He is interested in the art of manipulating life through the use of the Force. He finds a coven of witches who have a mastered at least part of this skill, so he goes to learn from them (he's actually present in the background of the flashback scene when Mae and Osha are doing their ascension ceremony, but then peaces out when the Jedi show up.) The Jedi realize this or something like it, so they kill everyone in the coven. They do this to prevent the Sith from learning forbidden knowledge from them. Nonetheless, Tenebrous now has some basic information to start, but still doesn't know how to do it, thus he spends the rest of his life trying to unlock the secret. He has two apprentices, an official Sith apprentice named Darth Plagueis, and an illegitimate apprentice named Darth Venamis, although technically Venamis isn't a "Darth," nor a true Sith, since the Rule of Two says there can only be one master and one apprentice. Ultimately, Tenebrous discovers Venamis betraying him and imprisons him in his lab where he uses him in his experiments, literally torturing him to death for decades and reviving him using the techniques he's learning. His apprentice Darth Plagueis eventually kills Tenebrous and takes his own apprentice, Darth Sidious. Together they continue the experimentation, accidentally creating Anakin Skywalker. However, they think all their experiments have failed (Anakin is born on the other side of the galaxy and they are unaware of it until Sidious encounters him in "The Phantom Menace.") Due to their failures, Sidious becomes impatient and kills Plagueis in his sleep, becoming the master, and eventually taking Darth Maul as his apprentice. This is the point at which the prequels begin. Here is the punchline to all of this: Qimir is Darth Venamis and we're seeing the story of his betrayal of his master, Darth Tenebrous. He wants an acolyte to increase his strength in order to kill Tenebrous and replace him.
RIP to Jecki and Yord! I truly thought that all the "Red Shirts" were goners, but didn't see those two getting "bumped off." Sol can't be any more aware than Yoda. He had Sith literally all around him and he was totally unaware. I wonder if Qimir is a former padawan who was tossed.
@@SWTobito0702 Do other jedis also have bigger stuff on their mind to not sense the death of 2 previous jedis? At this point, they would have intervined.
I think Sol is a mess right now. Ridden with guilt, just watched his padawan and several Jedi die. That said, it's possible he has an inkling. He didn't ask where Mae was, he asked where is your sister.
Well I enjoyed the fight scenes. The character development and writing is falling short for me, although I will keep watching. I was really hoping and expected this show would be far darker than what it is.. I was hoping it would go more in-depth into the Sith
That’s because supposedly we’re getting that toxic grifting hate money now! last week we were still cashing in on our Disney shill checks. we tried to be so fair and balanced, but nobody can seem to stomach when opinions differ. we are still going to watch the show and we’re still hoping for the best.
The show hasn't the strongest writing (but I thought this episode was pure poetry) But I get the thumbnail. It's a lot more profitable to hate something than to actually given an honest critique without bending to the part of the fandom that relies on hate. So it looks like, even with the critique, you're more interested in bending. So when people see your thumbnail, they know. Kudos for deciding to get a little grifty - hope it was worth it.
I don’t make money off RUclips guys…there’s no profit in this. Its an honest reaction and you can’t handle that i actually don’t like it. Last week I got called a SHILL…which is it? Am I grifting Disney, or grifting hate? Absolutely clueless comments.
@@JediJive I'm sure you are genuine but - look around! - a lot of creators have been riding the wave of hate against this show to get views. I'm sorry if I doubted, in fact I said I was disappointed however it is a hard time to be a star wars fan when everywhere there is just hate and more hate especially for shows that show a little bit of effort towards a little more inclusion of women, black and LGBT representation (which I'm part of). I personally like the Acolyte and I find the hate really inexplicable especially when those who hate really never do explain why they hate it. It's a miserable time. Really sad

He said "a jedi like you may call me a sith" ... doesn't really mean he IS a sith. He seems like he's just a Dark force user. May be an original Knight of Ren (Kylos music paid a little bit there). Sith Lords get their names from their master so his comment "I have no name", may carry significance in the future.
Folks getting butthurt that Mae is flip flopping, yet Anakin was the king of indecisiveness.. lol.. yall arent saying anything about him.. Booty ass reaction..
@JediJive there’s a theory on episode 3 during the ceremony behind the mother witches there’s a mysterious sith figure in black robes not showing his face at all could be plagues or his master or smilo ren
This episode is in the top five greatest pieces of live action Star Wars content of all time. Best lightsaber/fight choreography since Duel of the Fates. If you don't like this you simply don't like Star Wars. I understand not everyone hating this show is a right wing extremist, but it's clear the hate from those extremists is having a subconscious effect on people like you guys, hyper nitpicking and looking for excuses to hate.
We try hard to be respectful, but comments like this are just as toxic and clueless as the hate grifters…gatekeeping Star Wars fandom because we were underwhelmed by the epsisode and gave fair and honest criticism is utterly ridiculous. You will not find a more unbiased reaction channel on RUclips and I stand by that. You can’t buy my opinion whether its praise or hate. “If you don’t like this, you don’t like Star Wars” GTFO of here with that nonsense.
@@JediJive”because we were underwhelmed by the episode” - man, how the hell can that be? How can any SW fan not love that episode? You are too tuned into the hate mongers on RUclips to have any sense of the things we did like…watch again and see how much I praise the awesome action as it goes down. We loved that part and say as much. @@basicsimp8798 TBH Watching the Acolyte all I have thought about is "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter"
I didn't like most of the dialogues. The rest was cool. And I agree we need to know what happened to Sol to care more deeply. But remember there are always 2, the master and the apprentice (if Qimir is actually a Sith...or a self appointed sith? The underwhelming revel makes me think of a self appointed title. He should be a Darth something... Or maybe he is the Acolyte)
Guys, QImir is NOT a Sith. He even says, "What I am has no name, but a Jedi like you would call me...Sith." I feel like everyone is missing the point here. The show isn't about what happened on Osha and Mae's planet, that's just the reason those four Jedi are being targeted. The so-called "mystery" isn't fucking important. Its not the point of the damn show. Qimir is the illegitimate apprentice of Darth Tenebrous and this is the story of his failed betrayal of his master. Also, Sol is completely unbalanced in the Force after that fight and likely can't sense shit. If you have issue with that you might want to speak with the Jedi council that hung out with Palpatine all day and couldn't tell he was Darth Sidious. Look, if you go into an episode already determined to not like it, then you will find all sorts of dumb shit to be mad at. If you think the show is garbage, then you won't be able to suspend disbelief. If you can't do that, then you'll start noticing shit like this isn't a forest, its a sound stage. Or, light sabers make no sense according to the laws of physics. Or that tracker guy is like a small person in a chipmunk suit. Personally, I don't really like the show, but I have to give the fight scenes credit, especially in episode 5. And I think both the research into the lore and the characterization of Qimir are fantastic. Its possible to appreciate those things while also being displeased with the general writing quality. And since we're so hung up on it, here's what's in the fucking mystery box: The witches coven figured out how to create life, attracting the attention of Darth Tenebrous who went to their planet to learn the skill. The Jedi specifically went there and killed everyone to prevent them from sharing the information. That's why they all ended up guilt ridden and got killed in retaliation. Once again, this is ONLY important because of the reason why they did it...to keep the wrong people from getting their hands on it. Oops, too late, Tenebrous already learned some of what they knew, and he and his apprentice Plagueis will experiment around with the knowledge trying to learn the secret. Plagueis will continue those studies with his apprentice Sidious and they accidentally create Anakin Skywalker without realizing it...until Palpatine encounters him TPM and realizes who he is. If you want to know who Qimir is, then read my other comment where I explain it in detail.

I definitely also found there were a few head scratching moments in the episode. You make a great point when you say how more backstory and clarification might have added more tension and emotion to the battle. She looks at dead Yord like she couldn’t care less 😂. Osha shoots Mae disabling her, Mae wakes up shoots Sol then I guess she forgot Osha shot her and she wants to make up? It’s like the writing team played the telephone game with the script…
Correct. Death is not automatically high stakes if I don’t have an emotional connection to the characters. These characters weren’t written well enough to care, so the stakes fell flat for us.
@@JediJive if you say so. When people talk about stakes it’s almost always about life and death. I think we got enough from both Jecki and Yord to give a shit about them.

If I were to rewrite this Sol & Osha would be Master and Apprentice & while Yord and Jeckie would also be Master and Apprentice and they'd be working this case from two different ends before teaming up and confronting the Sith on this world. That streamlines the plot enough to give us more time with these characters that can build up the needed emotional attachements to make these deaths work.

This would have had more stakes if they wouldn't have brought the fodder Jedi. That decision was simply to get their Sith the chance to do multiple cool deaths and it numbed you early bc you realize most of them are going to die so that when the characters we know die we feel nothing.
My question is....if you stated in comments you don't make money from this, and you're clearly not enjoying this show for the reasons you're not enjoying it.....why are you spending time to record a reaction and upload this? I know you're a fan of the franchise but if there's no real gain from it, then why?
This is Jedi Jive. I started the channel to react to Star Wars content. Branched out because there wasn’t enough Star Wars to react to. This is Star Wars content. I’m commited to react to it because that’s what I do on this channel…for the last 5 years. It would be weird NOT to react to Star Wars on a Star Wars reaction channel. We don’t not like the show either…we have fair criticisms and voiced them honestly. Us giving the show a chance despite being underwhelmed by it should be a testament to the fact that we are fair and not toxic. This might legitimately be the last OG reaction channel on RUclips that ISNT compromised by requiring ourselves to react one way or another based on either hate grifting or disney shilling.
@@JediJive All of that is noble in it's own right. And sticking to something because you want to do it is fine but the more I listen to your "criticisms" the more I feel it lacks genuine intentions and it just feels like "how many things I don't like can I point out" and I've watched many of your reactions, including ones you didn't like and none of them had this kind of energy. It's not taking away from your right to criticize because we all have a right to feel how we feel. But this? Yeaaaaa this ain't coming as fair as you're claiming, but that's just me 🤷♂
Look again…the entire lightsaber fight part had me ooing and ahhing and saying how dope and cool it was…I even mention MULTIPLE times in the discussion how much I liked the fight choreography in the episode. Then go on to say how we totally understand if you love it more than anything. You can’t get more fair than that. You seem to be so tuned into criticism because of the toxic discourse online that its all you hear. We didnt say the show was terrible…we said we’re still holding hope for whats left and coming back for more. Its literal fair and balanced honesty and you guys can’t seem to handle it. Ive never used the term “woke”…I hate the toxic grifters as much as you do. I’ve received death threats for my actual opinion that I work long hours for essentially free to give. Somethings not right in the world where I can’t even be critical of my favorite franchise without being attacked and derided by anyone that doesn’t 100% agree.
@@JediJive I can't speak for anyone else but myself but you having a criticism isn't an issue with in the slightest. But as I said, I've seen you react, I've seen you not like something. This wasn't it. I'm not telling you to be "woke" and accept it without scrutiny. I'm giving my observation as someone who's watched your content and noticing a shift. If you don't think that's the case, so be it. I depart in peace✌
I can understand not liking parts of this episode… writing and characters have been the weakest part of the show overall. It is surprising though that this episode got your harshest criticism out of the 5 so far. I thought there was lots to like about it. The action and choreography in particular were really well done. I don’t really get the criticism of the intercutting of the fight scenes. Those different fight scenes were going on at the same time. I’m not sure how else you would show that if you weren’t cutting back and forth. Cutting between Sol/Qimir and Jecki/Mae was a sideways move anyway since both fights were great. I didn’t feel like we were losing anything at all cutting from one to go to the other. I also feel it’s weird to be disappointed that it hasn’t yet been revealed what Sol did in his past. It’s the biggest and main part of the mystery… why spoil it early? I assume at some point we will still get a second point of view of what happened 16 years ago, and that would be by far the better time to reveal what happened.
it cause the music of the fight tries to invoke reaction in the audience the show has yet to earn. Fights are only good because of the story behind them and you've admitted that the writing and characters are weak. Even boxing and ufc try to create a story for their big fights. Did people love rocky cause the punching looked good? no they loved it because the fight was the climax of a story.
@@mopground the fights would carry much more weight if it earned more emotional involvement, 100% I agree. I wasn't trying to convince them they should care more about say Yord dying. But there's not really any denying the fight choreography was some of the best lightsaber work we've been given in all of live action Star Wars. Some of the criticisms they had just felt weird to me.
@@superbobomario8849 no. I mean they killed them off super soon. We are only 5 episodes in. Plus what’s with all this 20 odd minutes stuff. I know a lot of people have no attention span anymore thanks to TikTok and the like but man give us 40 at least to help develop storylines lol
I don’t think you listened to our discussion because we actually did like this episode quite a bit…still had some issues, but overall we were into it…are you dropping comments without watching?
My favorite part was when the sister said "whoa all those lightsabers are like a rainbow" and all I could think was about the interview where they say the lightsaber colors don't mean anything it's just esthetic. And I went "oh now it makes sense, they wanted a rainbow fight"
I'm sorry guys, I gotta jump ship on this one. I really liked this channel, and past reaction videos but this one seems odd to me. I honestly would have rathered that y'all DIDN'T watch this series given the level of contempt, and scorn being expressed. It's easy enough to find RUclips videos of people talking about what they hate about everything. The amount of outsized hate being leveled at this series is almost comical. It feels very forced, and insincere. I can't get down with that.
That's the whole thing. The show comes off like it thinks it's giving you riveting television, but the characters are too forgettable, and the writing is too all over the place for you to care or feel any stakes.
I like Sol and to a lesser extent Jecki but the fact that I don't care about Osha and Mae is a big problem. I don't hate them but I'm more indifferent.
This show isn't great and one episode of decent saber fighting isn't saving it. Between the flip flopping mae, cheesy dialogue, illogical character decisions. This show has been a disappointment. Value great writing and character work. Andor is much more entertaining and intriguing than this with no lightsabers or the force. Those hating on your reaction. Most likely didn't like Andor. If they did they can't be honest in saying the writing of both shows is in the same ballpark.
I loved andor but im not gonna lie this one episode was the most entertained ive been with starwars since disney took over besides the jedi survivor game i loved that but i still wouldnt say this show as a whole is better than andor, andor was 10/10 spectacular
I wanted to like this show… but your reaction when the episode ended is the same one I had. Head slap. 🤦🏻♂️ This episode, this show, is a headache. I’m re-watching Andor concurrently and they are Parsecs apart in terms of story, dialogue, pacing, videography, and general quality. Like Shakespeare compared to a high school play. Oh well, Acolyte, another missed opportunity
Decent reaction to this episode. This entire series has been absolutely horrendous and it’s down to the writing and DEI hires but mostly the show runner pushing her agenda. Star Wars hasn’t been good since Mando S2
What is a "DEI hire" and how does it directly hurt you? Also, what is the "agenda" that you're speaking of? Are you feeling less than special since your specific needs aren't being taken care of? I honestly cannot imagine the pain you must feel each you have to look at an actor who isn't an average mediocre white male like the ones that have existed in Hollywood for decades.
If y’all were missing the point this badly it would be a bummer, but hey, it happens. But it seems like y’all are being intentionally disingenuous in this reaction, in a way that no other video on this channel ever has, and I gotta say, it’s very disappointing to see. Thought y’all were better than this.
Yep..Skyman Universe has gone down the same route now. Used to be so enthusiastic and is now miserable and moaning about absolutely everything. He has completely changed. It’s an odd pattern emerging amongst these reactions now!
Wtf was this reaction? I watched you for some years from my previous account and this one was the most childish reaction I've seen. The scoffing and eye rolling? wth
This Show Should Had Been an Else-World Story and Binge Watching n Not Episodic! This show would had been a Easy 80% fan approval if they would had release it all at once, said it was an alternative timeline n not attack the fans because 5-10% toxic people online. This is like a 90's B-Movie. It makes no sense n if full of plot holes but u can kill some time n enjoy the experience (specially if Cannabis is on the mix). Yes, it is retarded n cheesy with glimpses of great potential. Like the death of that Padawan that put a 500%X a better fight against that Shit then any other Jedi n masters on the group.
I’ve been following your channel for quite some time and have always found your reactions to be genuine. Watching this video was refreshing because it’s exactly how I felt while watching this episode. I went into this show so excited for it and other than the fight choreography it’s just been utterly disappointing. I also hated the cuts while the fights were happening because it just ruined the flow and pacing. Mae’s flip flopping between wanting to turn herself in and then not was just bonkers to me. The death of Jeki and Yord, I totally felt nothing. I want to care and yet it just falls flat. I feel your criticisms are fair. There are definitely people out there slinging unfair criticisms like too many women, or my favorite “space lesbians” 🙄 and that’s the problem. So when valid criticisms and reactions occur everyone gets overly sensitive and they assume you’re hating it just to hate. Thanks for being fair about it and genuine. That’s my rant. Have a great day.
And u should quit commenting. See how that's not productive. Enjoy it and find someone else to watch. Blind wave seems to love the show and doesn't criticize anything to subscribe their awesome really
2 main characters die "it feels like this show has no stakes"
yes, correct…because we didn’t care about the characters, their deaths didn’t feel weighty.
Damn, someone got their neck snapped and they were like, "we don't care"😂 Savage ASF!😂
We knew from the first episode that Sol was dishonest. He kept Maes existence out of Oshas file.
How is it so lost on them that her master being there changed everything for Mae’s plan. Mae changed her mind because she knew her master was going to murder everyone including her.
Mae literally said last episode that she was surrendering to the Jedi and now she tries to kill Jecki.
I feel like Yord forgetting the bugs is a fair enough thing, he's just had the shock of his life of some unknown force wielder come out of no where with a Lightsaber and shit him right up along with murdering about 5 other Jedi in the process, why would he be thinking about bugs whilst trying to save Osha, the Sith is whats on his mind in that moment
I do also feel like some of Qimir's dialogue isn't as bad as some are thinking for the Sith, he's not spilling *everything* necessarily, he's just answering as much as is needed for the moment, he's taunting and being jovial, mocking around Sol
I hate this show, but that would a cool twist, I don’t think the people writing this are smart enough for that tho 😂
With the age difference in appearance, he would be more like Sol's son.

But in this episode shes back to being against the jedi and wanting them to pay... so what is her motivation. Its a mess.
@@tbirdguy1 I dont think her feelings about the jedi changed, just her goal, aka shifting from killing jedi for the sith's approval to escaping with Osha. When Osha was resisting joining Mae, she reminded her that the jedi she killed deserved it. It actually does make sense
It’s wild that this is in any way a take that needed to be said. No idea what these two are even watching

I'm fairly sure that this is what is happening:
The Sith lord of this time period is a guy named Darth Tenebrous.
LOL!! That's what I said, how does Sol not recognized Mae if he is sensible on the force?
He may have bigger stuff on his mind right now.
Sensing someone's presence in the force isn't a constantly active radar.
@@SWTobito0702 Do other jedis also have bigger stuff on their mind to not sense the death of 2 previous jedis? At this point, they would have intervined.
@jerrylamb2385 The death of a few Jedi will not cause a big enough stirr in the force to alert the entire Order.
I think Sol is a mess right now. Ridden with guilt, just watched his padawan and several Jedi die. That said, it's possible he has an inkling. He didn't ask where Mae was, he asked where is your sister.
Exactly! As powerful as we are led to believe he is, he couldn’t sense the difference!?! What a joke !
Well I enjoyed the fight scenes. The character development and writing is falling short for me, although I will keep watching. I was really hoping and expected this show would be far darker than what it is.. I was hoping it would go more in-depth into the Sith

The show hasn't the strongest writing (but I thought this episode was pure poetry)
But I get the thumbnail.

Really sad

This episode had the best lightsaber choreography of the Disney era, super quick and brutal. The only thing I dont like is Osha and Mae.
Why do ppl rush mysteries of a show only to then complain later when they've revealed the mystery
@JediJive there’s a theory on episode 3 during the ceremony behind the mother witches there’s a mysterious sith figure in black robes not showing his face at all could be plagues or his master or smilo ren
I’m glad it was wasn’t a witch … and that what I was afraid!
@@JediJive But that's just it, your criticisms were not fair, some not even logical. Some criticisms easily explained had you just payed attention.
@@JediJive”because we were underwhelmed by the episode” - man, how the hell can that be? How can any SW fan not love that episode? That was literally one of the best ever episodes of live action SW TV and one of the greatest light saber fights in all of SW! A couple of years ago you would have been creaming your pants over the action in this episode. I agree with others - a hell of a lot of contradictions in this “reaction”.
You are too tuned into the hate mongers on RUclips to have any sense of the things we did like…watch again and see how much I praise the awesome action as it goes down. We loved that part and say as much. We are explicitly clear that it didn’t matter how awesome the lightsaber fighting was when we felt it was surrounded by poor story beats, awful dialogue and confusing character motivations…if you don’t understand that, fine, but seriously…not allowing me to be critical when I GENUINELY don’t like those aspects of the show is nuts…Im not going to fake appreciation for things I don’t like. “Then why are you even watching”..,,because this is Jedi Jive and Im committed to reacting to Star Wars content and have been for years. Accept differences of opinion and move on. We are still prepared to keep watching and are still hoping for the best.

@@basicsimp8798 Yeah, like "Jedi can read minds!" "Or see the future". Jedi Masters can sense anger and hatred in someone. How do you pull a fast one on that!? I love you guys!!! Keep it up. 😊
A good looking fight does not make up for trash writing…
There is much more than “Sith” here. Maybe Ren?
Good reaction. Thank you for the honest review!
You guys don’t care because you don’t know the mystery of the season yet. Patience guys it will come.
This is exactly how I felt watching the episode.
Only the fight was good

Hey Mike and Jenny great reaction and review as always! I appreciate that you guys always give your genuine and honest reaction even if you may not have loved an episode. It’s refreshing to see. I definitely also found there were a few head scratching moments in the episode. You make a great point when you say how more backstory and clarification might have added more tension and emotion to the battle. I do wish we could have seen more of Jecki and Yord before they were killed off also, their deaths were not something I expected. I do think this series has a bit of work to do still but I’m curious to see how everything will come together in the end. See you guys next week and keep up the great work! :)

Yo! Say G'day to Anakin for me, you know, the dude that destroyed the Deathstar. 😵💫
Qimir said the Jedi might call him a Sith, but he didn't say he was one. I think he could be a Knight of Ren, or maybe their founder. In fact, we can hear Kylo Ren's theme in his last scene with Osha
Sol = Darth ??? the Acolyte
She looks at dead Yord like she couldn’t care less 😂. Osha shoots Mae disabling her, Mae wakes up shoots Sol then I guess she forgot Osha shot her and she wants to make up? It’s like the writing team played the telephone game with the script…
You ‘ can’t feel the stakes’ ??? Fucking several Jedi die, than two prominent Jedi die horribly back to back… but you don’t feel the stakes??? Okay

I really appreciate your take on this episode. To their credit, this was the first episode where they attempted to make it fun, at least. As a result, we got a few neat moments. However, it remains undermined by poor buildup, dialogue, and for the most part, acting.

I'm with you in the apathy. I still don't care about any of the characters or plot.
I just finished rewatching revenge of the sith and am so sad at what Star Wars has become . So much potential with the high republic to be such a fuckin let down !

If you don't think that's the case, so be it. I depart in peace✌
I wonder if Sol will recognise the tattoo
Sound and fury signifying nothing.

Watching this video was refreshing because it’s exactly how I felt while watching this episode. I went into this show so excited for it and other than the fight choreography it’s just been utterly disappointing.
