That Nestle commercial is even freakier, when you realize the dogs are technically singing about "delicious poison." We all know what chocolate does to dogs, what is this, a suicide cult commercial?!
It's not chocolate specifically, but the cocoa in it that poisons dogs. Dark chocolate and bakers chocolate are more dangerous, but a large dog eating a milk chocolate bar will just throw it up and be fine, so they're really singing about bulimia.
Interesting fact: Hershey keeps the same Christmas ad because every year when they get money for a new ad, they just give it back to the employees as a Christmas bonus.
The number one chokes me up a bit each time. I spent a Christmas at war in Iraq. I remember coming back from a patrol and going to chow and midnight with my fellow marines. We sat there sharing stories and family and Christmas. Wishing we were home and passing around pictures. There are alot of those men I still call up every year to say merry Christmas. And unfortunately a few I can't. It's something that hits home because, even at war, Christmas has a certain magic that you just can't buy

I think I have a good idea about what the Frankenstein commercial was about. In every adaptation of the character, Frankenstein's Monster always wanted one thing...companionship. But everyone seems to despise him simply because of the fact he looks weird. So, during the holidays (or more specifically, Christmastime;) Frankie tries to go into town and make another attempt to bond with humans. He does so by plugging Christmas lights into his bolts and singing the aforementioned song. Once one of his bolts dies out and everyone's staring at him; he fears he'll get run out of town, like always. But instead, the little girl helps fix his light and decides to sing with him; showing Frankie the kindness he so richly desired. In the end; the moral of the ad is that everyone deserves to be shown just a little kindness, during the holidays...even the weird looking ones
Plus, Frankenstein's Monster is normally associated with Halloween. Thus, not only is it difficult for him to be accepted normally by the townspeople, but during Xmas he's even more of an outcast.
The M&Ms commercial got a sequel this year, where Yellow saves xmas after Red & Santa blacked out, but he delivers presents to the wrong houses, BUT that brings people out to get the right ones & the whole block ends up celebrating together, to the point where even Red is complimenting his job.
Bloodcaine On the contrary, the emotion on the monsters face is quite, well, emotional. That fearful look when he first starts singing, to the crushing sadness in his eyes when his bulb turns off and the music stops, to that final warm smile when the little girl started to sing. It's got a ton of heart in it. A surprising amount of heart even.
Bloodcaine Well that is your view, but I on the contrary see a positive message that honestly makes for a sweet story. I wouldn't buy an Apple Phone regardless, but I love the commercial.
Remember, kids: Always share your beer with a flying snowman. Edit: Sorry, didn’t know it was just a carbonated beverage. I live in the US, plus when I hear “brew”, I associate it with beer.
16:43 After watching this commercial for years, I never noticed the Yellow M&M was smiling in that part, like he’s excited to see Santa. It’s actually very adorable. 😊
"I'm the Nostalgia Critic and let's remember together. " Aw, Doug, why'd you have to go all sweet like that? I wasn't prepared to cry, I just wanted to watch some funny\creepy commercials with you! Good job!
It was a "remake" of a famous Folgers commercial called "Peter Comes Home for Christmas," where the little sister is, like, 6 years old. They decided to mix it up by having the sister be 18-20 this time, but the problem is that a grown woman acting cutesy comes off as flirty. And then that look the brother gives at 2:55 really drives it home.
To be fair, I think that guy and girl were dating in real life. Somebody should have told them to leave their personal feelings for each other at home. :)
The concept might be cute if the sister was like 4 or 5 or something, or if the brother was instead a freshly-home soldier who was her boyfriend or something. Though I gotta admit, the rendition of the Folger’s jingle was beautiful 😊.
The apple commercial and The 1914 WW1 commercial got me in tears. They both remind me that two different people can come together and make something great. The little girl sang with Frankenstein's monster when the other adults didn't. The chocolate Christmas commercial showed that two groups of people came together to celebrate a time where they can't go home to their families. They all didn't seen an enemy, but they all saw people like them. These commercials made my heart melt and brought tears to my eyes.
About that m&ms commercial. There is actually a second part to it where yellow decides to deliver all the presents after Santa's knocked out, but delivers them to all the wrong houses, which in turn brings people together as everyone exchanges their gifts to one another. Just a simple follow up I felt needed more attention.
12: Man, I never saw this commercial on TV, unfortunately. Great to see it here. It is really admirable how accurate it is to the actual source. It's also hilarious how calm the boy is while singing about is unknowing doom. And the "plop" in the snow at the end... priceless. 11: Every Christmas I see this. It's actually heartwarming for me. I sweet concept about love being the best Christmas present there is. Though I won't deny the parodies are hilarious to view. I still enjoy it, and I enjoyed your take on it just as much. 10: This is a timeless one. I see it every year and it's always interesting. The old feel of it definitely shows how much a timeless classic it is. 9: What. The. Heck? I... never saw this one. Until now. I can tell by the footage it's rather old, but I'm shocked I never saw this before now. And at the end when he said, "Chocolate,", was that... bone cracking? Or a chocolate bar crunch? I'm guessing left up to our nightmares. 8: Ahh, another timeless classic. Seen this soo many times every year. I'm glad it's aged well and continues to be shown. Simple, colorful, and right to the point. Plus, classic childhood characters. "Because how can Fruity Pebbles be in our...". With the internet, there's always a way. It's best not to challenge it. ...Please, for the love of all things fruity, don't challenge them... 7: Like you said, this is interesting because it uses body language, facial expressions and music to tell the story. It's simple in its execution, and does a good job of showing the playful childhood innocence. And it's not as much a marketing scheme like, "Buy our stuff!" It's more of a simple holiday wishes thing. 6: Again, a classic commercial. The puppetry is really good for being this old, and it does still hit you in the nostalgia when it comes on. 5: Never saw this until now, and I can see why people are talking about. First, it does have an interest contrast of both a vintage feel mixed with modernization. The the reveal. I thought it was Ebenezer Scrooge until I saw Frankenstein. But the message for me is about a few things. When you see him smiling and crying as everyone joins in, you see he wanted acceptance, and friends and family. He didn't want to be alone for the holidays and by showing love and kindness, he was given it in return. He dared to open his heart, and in the end, he had found friendship. Second, the little girl showed innocence. She didn't judge him because he looked different. She accepted him, and the rest of the townsfolk saw he was a good person and opened their own hearts up to him just as he'd done to them. And finally, the townsfolk first judged based on appearance instead of giving him a chance. It took one person to see through to his heart and show the rest he was a good person. But that's what I got from it. I really hope this becomes a timeless classic as it does have a really good message. 4: Gotta say, can't have Christmas with Coke. You know what I mean, internet! Don't go there! There's just something magical and timeless about these ads. As mentioned, the colors, visuals and tone just really make you smile. Growing up, because I saw so many ads with Santa and Coca Cola, I never left cookies and milk and Christmas Eve. I always left Coke because I thought it was his favorite. And the polar bear ones are cute to boot. 3: Every year I see this. And every year I love it. Simple, innocent, and it's not an in-your-face ad. It's a simple ad with good fun that'll usually make you smile. If not for the creativity, then definitely for the nostalgia. 2: Ah, another timeless advert I see every Christmas. Simple, rather cute, innocent, and fun, it's simply a fun spirited commercial. Again, not an in-your-face ad. It's just easy going and light hearted. And at 16:56, I thought that was Arin Hanson at first. 1: Definitely my favorite Christmas commercial. And I both thank you and salute your thoughts on it, Doug. This commercial is amazing. The details and work put into this really show. The atmosphere is both chilling and heartwarming. And the message is powerful. It definitely highlights the meaning of the season. Love. No hatred, no bitterness. Just opening up and choosing to put aside differences. They came together and celebrated something special together. In that moment, they weren't enemies, they were people. They shared laughter, fun, and memories of family and friends. I'm so glad and proud that this commercial exists. This is truly a magical and heart warming commercial. Thanks very much for the wonderful list, Doug! Merry Christmas to you and everyone at Channel Awesome!
The Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup Christmas Snowkid Commercial’s 1 of my Favorites,I Also Love The Hershey’s Kisses Christmas”Wish You a Merry Christmas”Commercial,&,The Coca-Cola Christmas Polar Bears Commercials
The Folgers one wouldn't have been so odd if they had chosen a younger actress for the sister, one that is clearly young enough for them to not look like a couple, it also would make a lot more sense for a younger, teenage sister to be waiting for his older brother with so much excitement as it does for a older over 18 sister to be doing the same, it would even make the whole bow scene cute, instead of odd. It seems they may have tried to make the sister look younger by how they dressed her and her hairdo, but they should have just went with a younger actress.
one version of him "perished" after seeing a "little baby's ice-cream" (a Japanese ice cream brands) commercial that was scarier then 90% of the "horror" movies hollywoods released in the last two decades . I don't think he could survive that many commercials from there XD
I think the message behind the commercial with Frankenstein's monster is this. Even during the holidays; no matter who (or what) you are, all it takes is one person's good will to show everyone that all people deserve kindness...even creatures like Frankie
I'll be turning 35 on in roughly 22 hours. Also, guilty of getting a little teary at seeing that particular commercial when I barely watch television anymore; the #1 spot only exacerbated the emotion.
My Dad passed away 3 years ago and was a big Universal Frankenstein fan. My niece was his favorite and at the age of 5 he watch the original Frankenstein movie with her. It was the last thing he watched. Others might think it was random but the Apple commercial encapsulates this to me. From my dad fitting the roll of the Monster and my niece going up and help him, showing him confort means more to me than anything. :,)
From my history buff friend, while this event only happened in certain areas, the ones who did no longer wanted to fight each other. So much so that they'd warn the other side when an artillery barrage was coming so that everyone could move to safety for months after the day.
To add to A.C. Dragonlover's statement The "Christmas Truce" truly only did happen in certain areas of the front, the fronts ranged from playing soccer with eachother to where there was ongoing combat and fire fights And to add to it, alot of French Soldiers and French in general was disgusted and outraged by how the British are allowing their men to interact, eat, talk and celebrate Christmas with the Germans in Occupied French Soil. There were even reports of French women spitting on British Troops because of it There was also how the British High Command as well as the Germans viewed that this is not good since their soldiers would not be willing to kill eachother or even fight But yeah as a History Buff myself I absolutely adore the commercial about the Christmas Truce
''There was also how the British High Command as well as the Germans viewed that this is not good since their soldiers would not be willing to kill eachother or even fight'' Yeah I learned from ''All is Quiet on the Western Front'' is that it's neither unusual or unnatural to come to the realization that the ''grunts'' on the opposing sides are actually closer to each other than their respective superiors or countrymen at home who aren't there with them.
Rafael Lipschutz it’s the only Christmas ad that didn’t piss me off with the over commercialization of the holiday. I feel that the effort put into it shows, and makes it the only ad I’ve seen that actually makes me want to buy the product they’re pushing
So as I was looking for the Nestle's commercial after watching this, I accidentally stumbled into the history/background of it and found out it it was originally from little Nestles ads with ventriloquist Jimmy Nelson in the 50's/60's. He would have the dog (creepy looking mostly just cause the quality of special affects at the time, I guess) and also a dummy type character, which is creepy cause it's a dummy. But of course when it's put together with Jimmy himself sitting there, the whole scene is just kinda old fashioned and cute/charming. But in this context it's JUST the dog (many of them too D: ) with no updated look to be less creepy OR the historical context for old fashioned charm. So that's what makes this commercial creepy as flying heck. Additionally, the clicking mouth at the end has a story of innocent beginnings. When Jimmy Nelson was auditioning for the opportunity, he was of course very nervous while doing his routine, his hand in the dog puppet was sweating, and when he went to have the dog softy sing "chooocolate" his finger slipped off the 'trigger' controlling the movements of the puppet and it's mouth snapped shut. To which of course he quickly said 'let me try that again' but they stopped him saying the mouth snapping shut was hilarious (What?!?). So their mouths snapping shut here is a throwback to Jimmy Nelson's nervous moment that landed him the spot for Nestles... but again out of context it's CREEPY AS HECK! So that's the story from my accidental research.
The dog's name is Farfel. Supposedly, the chomp was an accident, with the ventriloquist's thumb having slipped off the lever, causing that. And it kinda stayed.
On the twelfth ad of christmas the nostalgia critic gave to me 12 flying snowman 11 creepy siblings 10 weirdly anthropermorphic bees 9 terrifying puppets 8 caveman santas 7 creepy clowns skating 6 adorable snowmen 5 FRANKENSTEIN'S (monster) 4 Polar bears 3 Hershey bells 2 M'n'Ms And a beautiful Sainsbury christmas ad on TV
Despite being a war nut, my favourite war stories are ones about acts of kindness between two opposing sides and the story about the christmas football game in 1914 is by far my favourite one, always makes me smile when is see it represented in media
The Hershey chocolates ringing we wish you a merry Christmas is my favorite Christmas commercial. I remember first hearing it and watching it as a kid and it is simple and seems like it wouldn't be a hit but it is. Im glad it exists and is still around
Haha, a similar thing happened when my family went to see Force Awakens. We saw Mike J(Shameful Sequels) in the Star Wars lego commercial, and my sister and I lost it. My dad was really confused and had no idea why we were geeking out.
The Frankenstein commercial gets me right in the feels because I keep wishing GeneWilder would show up as Young Frankenstien and stand next to him. RIP Gene
Christmas is a powerful time of year. Even after the call-off of fire was over, the 2 sides couldn't continue the fight. They couldn't hurt the people they had gotten to know and could now call friends. It was something that I actually can consider a miracle because of how powerful the spirit of Christ was in being able to put a stop to the violence. This is half the reason why I love this time of year; the very essence of good will and joy. I can also see why other religions could view their holiday with just as much impact, but the message of good will toward fellow man is still there. Happy Holidays to all; remember that this time of year can bring out the good in people that you might have not ever expected to have any, so remember that even your least favorite person in the world could very well be someone else's hero. You don't have to try and forgive them of everything, but have a little understanding and don't be a jerk; They might follow in suit and give some good will back.
It’s pretty depressing that 2 Classic commercials on this list had to be ruined many years later with the Hersheys one having it be interrupted mid-way which got people upset and the Coca-Cola ad being remade by hideous AI. Why change up a classic? 😢
I've watched three or four of your recent videos and there's not ONE time I wasn't feeling that lump in my throat somehow, or my eyes slightly watering up. You sir, have become an artist at nostalgia. At least an artist who knows how to connect with my own nostalgia.
The last one gave me a feeling I haven't felt in a while, a warm tingling feeling, it's definitely better than the normal cold and dead feeling I usaully have
Irn Bru is specifically Scottish, and as a nice extra touch, they're flying over a number of famous Scottish landmarks: Loch Ness, The Forth Rail Bridge, The Falkirk Wheel, Prices Street Gardens, etc.
2 times he's mentioned the Campbell soup ad and he never brings it up: I get that the "snowman" is just the kid covered, but then how do you explain the sticks for hands?!
lol It is not a real snowman the commercial is a metaphor for when kids play outside all day and feel the harsh cold of winter, the soup is to warm him back to normality.
1: Hey this cream in my coffee tastes weird... 2: Man, folgers has some weird commercials in the Appalachian regions. 3: I've heard of hot coffee being a metaphor for sex, but this is ridiculous! 4: Their uncle is going to be pissed when he learns BOTH of his lovers cheated on him. 5: Since when did we put in the secret tape of Christmas Vacation 3: Cousin Eddy Returns? 6: Oh my god, that is disgusting! They didn't rub their feet before entering the house, they'll track muck everywhere! As punishment they will not be allowed sex this christmas eve. 7: If you are what you eat, does that mean the brother is technically her identical twin? I have a lot more, and I have reddit Jokes on stand-by if I run out, I'll not stop til' I've had my fill of humor and bad comedy!
So did that actually happen in history? Damn that's heartwarming. Kinda sucks to think that now the soldiers would know who they're firing at the next day but still heartwarming.
According to Wikipedia this didn't happen again during the war because of high command on all sides prohibiting further fraternization with the enemy. The soldiers see a day where they don't have to worry about getting killed or having to kill anyone, the guys in chairs back home see money being lost... War is hell.
the christmas truce is well known in the UK. they stopped fighting and played football and chatted, they even released prisoners back to each other and had burials. in the few days/weeks after the truce many soldiers broke orders and didn't want to kill the men in the opposite trenches so much so they were either executed or swapped out for soldiers who were prepared to kill.
I'm surprised no one ever made a feature length film about the Christmas Miracle of 1914. It went on even longer than Christmas. There were worries on both sides' high commands that...shockingly...the war could just...end...because now the men see each other as men. (Imagine that! ;) )
+isabella omohundro You sure are expressing a lot of hatred towards your straw man version of the film industry. Also, what does any of this have to do with christianity? Nobody mentioned owning people as property "from the heathens" around you, stoning unruly children or massacring Amalekites. This ad was about a real-life temporary armistice that highlights the commonalities we all have. As an atheist, I think it's fantastic. It's all about finding common ground, unlike your doctrine which forms a divisive "us vs them" mindset (as you so deftly demonstrated). C'mon, it's almost Christmas. Cheer up!
I remember watching the last one once on Christmas and my heart warmed. And also the irn Bru ad just made me feel nostalgic. The uk is really good at making Christmas ads. I don’t even celebrate Christmas
You know what's really funny? When I was 5 years old I remember seeing that Mario brothers commercial where he's going through the grocery store, and for the last 25 years I thought it was a special video game they were giving out for shopping at their store. I always wanted to know what game it was that had Mario going through a grocery store, and now I find out it's just a commercial. Dammit I need a girlfriend.
Jobby Bones Nah, I meant we ARE getting a horrific world war, it's just that the nationalist wars of the past may have been able to support an idea like a truce between people, while modern wars...I think we'd never set our differences aside until every one of our enemies was dead or subdued.
+ProbeVoyages I think its more got to do with the fact that modern wars don't have hundreds of people on both sides sitting in trenches for weeks on end. War just doesn't work like that anymore. Even if Christmas were to come around, neither side would be in a position to come together.
Masterxl MVs Fair enough. Very different for two lined up, organized armies to say "let's stop shooting for one day" than for countless independent, smaller units(not even counting fights against insurgents, but I don't think ISIS throws good Christmas parties anyways) to all say "let's stop shooting for one day" at once. Mission-type tactics aren't perfect.
I just really love how, in the actual event, they refused to go back to fighting each other the next day. They'd made such a connection during that 1 day of peace that both sides refused to fight. It was only that one bit of trench where it happened to such a degree, but just such a great moment of humanity.
If there's one I would have added and granted only people who have lived along the East Coast know this one. The Hess truck's back and it's better than ever, for Christmas this year...
Danielle Yeah they stuck more to the east. Sort of like how Chevron gas does in the west. They moved their trucks to online buying after Speedway bought them out.
Legit teary eyed on that last one. Also, I don't suppose anyone else is familiar with Cyriak's polar bear coke add? Because honestly that's the only one I knew before watching this.
+Danielle Pluzsik No, I mean he was literally hired to make an actual ad for Coca Cola, and it feature a Polar Bear. And Penguins, I think. There might have been two of them.
The one commercial special I absolutely love. I just freaking love Christmas commercials they just honestly make me freaken happy. Especially the coca cola train it's my favorite favorite.
I don't know if this is really a Christmas commercial but it gets to me every time. Its an ad for the Macy's parade that features a little boy seeing it every year. A Santa balloon is his favorite part and you see him grow up watching the parade every year with the balloon winking at him. That is until one year he can't make it. So the balloon notices and leaves the parade to visit the now elderly man at his house. Its sweet and heartwarming.
ZadnoleyaEdits what's not to get. He's a monster trying to be accepted by the towns folk so he records the music for a Christmas carol and starts caroling for the mob.
Nekonomicon finally someone did. That boy is probably suffering from hypothermia and most likely immobilized because his bones are all broken, and all the snowman can do is drink his goddamn soda.
as Much as I Love The Budweiser Christmas Clydesdales Commercial,I Definitely Prefer The Budweiser Super Bowl Lost Puppy Commercial,It’s Just so Damn Sweet,Adorable,&,Heartwarming

So, during the holidays (or more specifically, Christmastime;) Frankie tries to go into town and make another attempt to bond with humans. Damn straight
Plus, Frankenstein's Monster is normally associated with Halloween. Thus, not only is it difficult for him to be accepted normally by the townspeople, but during Xmas he's even more of an outcast.
I also like it because it feels like a nice way to transition from Halloween to Christmas. Would be a really good ad for November
The picture of the woman in that ad is Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein btw, so that was a nice touch they did.
The M&Ms commercial got a sequel this year, where Yellow saves xmas after Red & Santa blacked out, but he delivers presents to the wrong houses, BUT that brings people out to get the right ones & the whole block ends up celebrating together, to the point where even Red is complimenting his job.
Yellow might not be the smartest, but he tried his best to save Christmas.
That was a portrait of Mary Shelley, the author of "Frankenstein", hanging on Frankie's wall.
Thank you!

Number 1 didn't feel like a commercial, It feels like a heartfelt Christmas short film. :) I love it so much!
I loved the Frankenstein one mainly for just how... emotional the Frankenstein actor was.
Shit commercial
Bloodcaine On the contrary, the emotion on the monsters face is quite, well, emotional. That fearful look when he first starts singing, to the crushing sadness in his eyes when his bulb turns off and the music stops, to that final warm smile when the little girl started to sing. It's got a ton of heart in it. A surprising amount of heart even.
+Concordia Harmony all I saw was a commercial abusing the sentimentality angle to try and sell me shit that I don't need.
Bloodcaine Well that is your view, but I on the contrary see a positive message that honestly makes for a sweet story. I wouldn't buy an Apple Phone regardless, but I love the commercial.

.....ya know. I've never really even noticed that it could very easily be mistaken for alcohol.
Its a fizzy drink not beer
CitizenKahne1992 it’s fizzy juice
Wow just got a beer ad with a snowman in it

It was a "remake" of a famous Folgers commercial called "Peter Comes Home for Christmas," where the little sister is, like, 6 years old. They decided to mix it up by having the sister be 18-20 this time, but the problem is that a grown woman acting cutesy comes off as flirty. And then that look the brother gives at 2:55 really drives it home.
Two commercial specials and compilation of all of them this year?
Critic must be a secret Santa!
Screw You Maybe.
PredaPrime we need a Superbowl version
HATER BOT Great idea! Get to it Critic!
What are you talking about? He is Santa.
SANTA CHRIST SANTA CHRIST WE ALL LOVE SANTA CHRIST
That Folgers commercial is the Empire Strikes Back of Folgers commercials; if you know what I mean.
Zero Cool Leia kissed Luke in Empire Strikes Back.
To be fair, I think that guy and girl were dating in real life. Somebody should have told them to leave their personal feelings for each other at home. :)
@@brandonmiles86 No, apparently they met each other the day they shot the ad and then never saw each other again.
It's the Game of Thrones of Christmas commercials
I feel like "Let's remember together" should've been his sign off this whole time, it fits perfectly with his character.
I will say, though, using it now perfectly encapsulates the kind of reviewer he's grown to become.
Ranger Bravo interesting fact
Number one was a true story
4. I just want to roll around in all that white powder. Get high off life's majesty. God I love cocaine. So much.
michael rame There aren't any rules saying that they couldn't do a whole list.
Ranger Bravo Santa hooves !
Ranger Bravo at least number 6 isn't terrifying
Goll the Frankenstein monster's smile at the end legit makes me misty-eyed. HE LOOKS SO FREAKING TOUCHED 😭

Fred : Just eat your fuckin' cereal ...
Geez that Frankenstein one is a tear jerker. I'm not crying, you're crying!
Try watching the Polish grandpa one. You'll know once you find it
In Poland we jokingly say its not christmass season till coca cola truck commercial start airing on tv :P
Rudevald Co racja to racja.
Same in Russia. Truly uniting all nations, this little commerical?
Same Joke here in the UK
Will we be quoting Coca-Cola's Christmas commercials in the trenches of WW3?
I'm not sure if that's true here in the USA.
Watching this list every year is quickly becoming one of my traditions
It seems they may have tried to make the sister look younger by how they dressed her and her hairdo, but they should have just went with a younger actress.
rjh00 It's a pretty good commercial
rjh00 It is an interesting study for advertising. I enjoy seeing people break it down and reconstruct it.
Boudicca The Sleeping Lion how do you treat your brother
Boudicca The Sleeping Lion ok I'm not that close with my siblings we don't even hug but of course everyone is different
That’s actually a really good idea why didn’t they just get a child actress for the sister?
Doug should do one for Japanese commercials
I agree! Japanese commercials. This can be it's own series. DOUG DO IT! DO IT NOW~!
one version of him "perished" after seeing a "little baby's ice-cream" (a Japanese ice cream brands) commercial that was scarier then 90% of the "horror" movies hollywoods released in the last two decades . I don't think he could survive that many commercials from there XD
if he would use 90's japanese commercials the would be to 50% Godzilla reladed
shafkat azim yes! This needs to be a thing!
Junko Miyamoto 80s Japanese commercials would blow his mind Haha.
I think the message behind the commercial with Frankenstein's monster is this.
Even during the holidays; no matter who (or what) you are, all it takes is one person's good will to show everyone that all people deserve kindness...even creatures like Frankie
I didn't know that Hershey's Kisses ad started more than 25 years ago! I turned four in 1989!
I'll be turning 35 on in roughly 22 hours. Also, guilty of getting a little teary at seeing that particular commercial when I barely watch television anymore; the #1 spot only exacerbated the emotion.
Solemn Howler Happy birthday :)
I saw that commercial every year when i was little{I'm 17 yrs old now}
Lord Sathien 35?
Lord Sathien Happy Beeday next month
My Dad passed away 3 years ago and was a big Universal Frankenstein fan. My niece was his favorite and at the age of 5 he watch the original Frankenstein movie with her. It was the last thing he watched. Others might think it was random but the Apple commercial encapsulates this to me. From my dad fitting the roll of the Monster and my niece going up and help him, showing him confort means more to me than anything. :,)
this is such a lovely comment 💕 sending well wishes to you and your family
Red M&M: “He DOES exist!”
Santa: “They DO exist…!”
*both faint, while Yellow M&M is left confused*
I Love The Hershey’s Kisses Christmas Carol ad,it Always Gets me in The Christmas Mood
Yeah, I agree. That really did deserve the number one spot. Makes me happy every time I see it.
What's even better the Truce was spontaneous not negotiated
From my history buff friend, while this event only happened in certain areas, the ones who did no longer wanted to fight each other. So much so that they'd warn the other side when an artillery barrage was coming so that everyone could move to safety for months after the day.
D. S. What about any of the John Lewis ads
To add to A.C. Dragonlover's statement
The "Christmas Truce" truly only did happen in certain areas of the front, the fronts ranged from playing soccer with eachother to where there was ongoing combat and fire fights
And to add to it, alot of French Soldiers and French in general was disgusted and outraged by how the British are allowing their men to interact, eat, talk and celebrate Christmas with the Germans in Occupied French Soil. There were even reports of French women spitting on British Troops because of it
There was also how the British High Command as well as the Germans viewed that this is not good since their soldiers would not be willing to kill eachother or even fight
But yeah as a History Buff myself I absolutely adore the commercial about the Christmas Truce
''There was also how the British High Command as well as the Germans viewed that this is not good since their soldiers would not be willing to kill eachother or even fight''
Yeah I learned from ''All is Quiet on the Western Front'' is that it's neither unusual or unnatural to come to the realization that the ''grunts'' on the opposing sides are actually closer to each other than their respective superiors or countrymen at home who aren't there with them.
that last one made me cry
Rafael Lipschutz good lord I thought I was the only one for a second there.
i didn't cry but my heard still warmed up
Rafael Lipschutz it’s the only Christmas ad that didn’t piss me off with the over commercialization of the holiday. I feel that the effort put into it shows, and makes it the only ad I’ve seen that actually makes me want to buy the product they’re pushing
I know what you mean
No one also mentions how Santa is the only person to ever wear shoes in the flintstones
FLEENSTONES?!!!
ROLLINGSTONES?!?!?!
Mr. Fedora GRAND DAD?!
He doesn't need the traction of calloused feet to power his transportation.
And probably doesn't need to run in place for several seconds before he gets going, either. :-)
"Oh, this one's really cu-"
"They are brother & sister"
"Forgive me father for I have sinned"
The jingle is at least sung beautifully. The way it was going, I expected it to be played on the banjo. 🪕
Nice history essay. A+++ (not saying this sarcasticly)
The dog's name is Farfel. Supposedly, the chomp was an accident, with the ventriloquist's thumb having slipped off the lever, causing that. And it kinda stayed.
I'm still trying to get Berries and Cream out of my head LOL
You can get it out of your head by eating Little Baby's Ice Cream
Arthus850 Baby's Ice cream is made of people XD
While sitting on a black couch
BLACK COUCH BLACK COUCH, I POOPED A BLACK COUCH!
Don't forget the electrocution of small children in the uk
On the twelfth ad of christmas the nostalgia critic gave to me
12 flying snowman
11 creepy siblings
10 weirdly anthropermorphic bees
9 terrifying puppets
8 caveman santas
7 creepy clowns skating
6 adorable snowmen
5 FRANKENSTEIN'S (monster)
4 Polar bears
3 Hershey bells
2 M'n'Ms
And a beautiful Sainsbury christmas ad on TV
Despite being a war nut, my favourite war stories are ones about acts of kindness between two opposing sides and the story about the christmas football game in 1914 is by far my favourite one, always makes me smile when is see it represented in media
The Hershey chocolates ringing we wish you a merry Christmas is my favorite Christmas commercial. I remember first hearing it and watching it as a kid and it is simple and seems like it wouldn't be a hit but it is. Im glad it exists and is still around
I’m so glad you mentioned the Frankenstein commercial, I really grew fond of that!
Also I agree with number one!!!
"Hey Fred, how can we celebrate Christmas if Jesus isn't born?"
"Just eat your fucking cereal."
I read this hearing their voices 🤣
Two points: 1. I had mercifully forgotten those Nestlés dogs, you fiend! 2. #1 made me choke up and get teary-eyed.
Woah, you went 2 steps beyond this time!!
GreenSoap 12 Days of Christmas
he's done it before
Well yeah, it's freaking Christmas! XD.
Book Lover well you say it like you're surprised
The Duke I'm not surprised, everyone know how much Doug loves Christmas. XD.
I saw the Apple one with Frankenstein before Rogue One. Couldn't stop laughing and people around me were really confused why.
Haha, a similar thing happened when my family went to see Force Awakens. We saw Mike J(Shameful Sequels) in the Star Wars lego commercial, and my sister and I lost it. My dad was really confused and had no idea why we were geeking out.
Why is it so funny? Im also confused.
The Frankenstein commercial gets me right in the feels because I keep wishing GeneWilder would show up as Young Frankenstien and stand next to him. RIP Gene
That nestle commercial with the dogs was the most horrifying thing I've ever seen. CHOOOOOCOLAAATE *SNAPS MOUTHS SHUT SIMULTANEOUSLY*
It's the crunching noise that does it. I know it's supposed to be the crunch of chocolate being snapped, but it sounds so disturbingly like teeth...
Actually it sounds like bones being crunched...
N-E-S-T-L-E-S/Nestle's makes the very best... CHAWWWWWWWW-KLIT!!
FARFEL I HAVE FOUND YOU!!!
I HAVE FOUND MY PEOPLE!!!
#1 has to be one of the most beautiful things I have seen, let alone a commercial.
You should watch the movie Joyeux Noel. It's also based on the event in the #1 commercial
Agreed
It’s pretty depressing that 2 Classic commercials on this list had to be ruined many years later with the Hersheys one having it be interrupted mid-way which got people upset and the Coca-Cola ad being remade by hideous AI. Why change up a classic? 😢
I fucking hate the new Hershey’s commercial. Because GOD FORBID something people love isn’t destroyed
I cried at the Frankenstein's monster one
You are not alone.
RhythmGameAddict I've never noticed that
I was gonna fuckin FLIP if the Chicken Noodle Soup snowman commercial wasn't on here!
EK OddLink front or backflip?
Jason Matthew back flip to an axe kick to my computer at how pissed off I woulda been
lol It is not a real snowman the commercial is a metaphor for when kids play outside all day and feel the harsh cold of winter, the soup is to warm him back to normality.
Those goddamn Folgers commercials lol.
WiffyLight Folgers: With a hint of Incest
The best part of waking up is incest in our cup.
I think it's tearjerking!
thehoosierfortheUK It's jerking something alright...

Yes. It did happen. It's the kind if thing we would never see in this day and age
the christmas truce is well known in the UK. they stopped fighting and played football and chatted, they even released prisoners back to each other and had burials. in the few days/weeks after the truce many soldiers broke orders and didn't want to kill the men in the opposite trenches so much so they were either executed or swapped out for soldiers who were prepared to kill.
Yes it did happen.
@@thatoneradicalizedprussian225 The guy said it didn't happen AGAIN. (As in Christmas 1915, etc) Not that it didn't happen.
Excuse you, the apple is PART OF A COMPLETE BREAKFAST. Just like Fruity Pebbles.
Fun fact: There's Rule 34 art of that Foldger's commercial.
There's rule34 of everything.
It was halfway to Rule 34 as it was.
Theres R34 of Foldgers.
I mean coffee porn.
Well, how disappointing. There is only one piece of art on the website!
I think that was a given, bud.

I'm surprised no one ever made a feature length film about the Christmas Miracle of 1914. It went on even longer than Christmas. There were worries on both sides' high commands that...shockingly...the war could just...end...because now the men see each other as men. (Imagine that! ;) )
There is a film about it though. Joyeux Noel, released in 2005. I've seen it and it's a real rollercoaster of emotions.
James Davenport Yeah, there is. I had to watch Joyeux Noel in my high school French class a while back.
A damn good movie that I try to watch every year. No other captures the Christmas spirit as well.
*Merry
And the did make one. Cool you jowls, and cool down the hatred. It's christmas. What would baby jesus think?
+isabella omohundro You sure are expressing a lot of hatred towards your straw man version of the film industry. Also, what does any of this have to do with christianity? Nobody mentioned owning people as property "from the heathens" around you, stoning unruly children or massacring Amalekites. This ad was about a real-life temporary armistice that highlights the commonalities we all have. As an atheist, I think it's fantastic. It's all about finding common ground, unlike your doctrine which forms a divisive "us vs them" mindset (as you so deftly demonstrated). C'mon, it's almost Christmas. Cheer up!
I LOVE the Hershey's Kisses commercial!! I have very clear, distinct memories of watching this (sitting by the tree!) during the holidays!😊
I remember watching the last one once on Christmas and my heart warmed. And also the irn Bru ad just made me feel nostalgic. The uk is really good at making Christmas ads. I don’t even celebrate Christmas
Someone has to say it. Five Nights at Nestle's.
Oh hell no-
My town is home to a Nestlé factory, and the Chamber of Commerce has an animatronic version of the demon-dog. Needless to say, it's horrifying
SlimJimGames The “demon dog”’s name is Farfel. And he is not a demon, he is a ventriloquist dummy from the 50’s. And he is CUTE AS HECK.
oghond 2112 He is cute, but only in small doses.
Those animatronics need to be killed with fire.
That sounds awesome! Do you have a link?
whenever I drink a Coke it makes me happy when I'd see Christmas related Coke commercials it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling
And a warm _fizzy_ feeling. 😃
We need to make this game, know how to program?
Man, that Christmas truce thing was really amazing. A shame we'll never see something like that in our lifetimes.
Jobby Bones Nah, I meant we ARE getting a horrific world war, it's just that the nationalist wars of the past may have been able to support an idea like a truce between people, while modern wars...I think we'd never set our differences aside until every one of our enemies was dead or subdued.
How do you know?
+ProbeVoyages
I think its more got to do with the fact that modern wars don't have hundreds of people on both sides sitting in trenches for weeks on end.
ProbeVoyages would still be nice though wouldn't it
the last one was an incredible Christmas ad
Kartoon Kid This is why it's at first place
And a real event. Something that slightly restores my faith in humanity
SupermarketSweep777 It's only on the East coast??
Danielle Yeah they stuck more to the east. Sort of like how Chevron gas does in the west. They moved their trucks to online buying after Speedway bought them out.
"We're f*cking...Happy Holidays from Folgers." The End. 🤣
There Is A Theory Saying The Flintstones Are Living In A Post Apocalyptic Future
So That Is Probably Why They Celebrate Christmas
The future, huh? Does this theory explain the dinosaurs?
FearlessCrazyChris, that and the jetsons live above the flinstones
Liopleurodon 2000 scientist are actually trying to bring back extinct animals So maybe that’s why
Yikes! Imagine if you're eaten by a dinosaur! Some things are better left in the past

+Danielle Pluzsik No, I mean he was literally hired to make an actual ad for Coca Cola, and it feature a Polar Bear. And Penguins, I think. There might have been two of them.
TWO COMMERCIAL VIDEOS IN ONE YEAR?!
and a 3 hour compilation video, to boot. The Critic has blessed us all with wonderful tidings. :)

I didn't need to masturbate, I came in my underwear.
Christmas comes four times a year apparently.
The Frankenstein one makes me cry like a baby. It's so weird but it still makes me happy
Yeah it sent chills up my spine. Very touching.
I honestly don't get it
ZadnoleyaEdits it's an Apple thing
ZadnoleyaEdits what's not to get. He's a monster trying to be accepted by the towns folk so he records the music for a Christmas carol and starts caroling for the mob.
RG408 wtf no it's not.
Not going to mention how the snowman at number 12 basically killed the boy because he didn't share? Pretty harsh
Nekonomicon finally someone did. That boy is probably suffering from hypothermia and most likely immobilized because his bones are all broken, and all the snowman can do is drink his goddamn soda.
SamuraiFighterChick *Beer.
Generic Name Sorry.

Trust me, I'm English. I drink it all the time.
Equestrian Idiot Alright then.
The coca cola truck advert is my sign that christmas is here.
Paul Grant 100% yes
Paul Grant John Lewis advert
