Wow, that was fantastic! I was having trouble wrapping my head around how to play the game, but this explanation made everything crystal clear. Thanks so much for doing this!
I watched a walkthrough from someone else first and got a bit of an idea but there was still quite a bit that was unclear. This video was spot on! I'm now ready to go: thank you so much!
Very good explanation, I have no doubt in how to play this game now. Like other videos where I get kicked off pretty easily. You have gone through every detail and questions that I had. Thanks!
LOL this game is more complicated than roasting coffee! Thanks for the explanation. I am still a bit unclear on aome of the finer points. I will check for some of your live streams.
This looks so different to the version I have. Seems like it's exactly the same other than the look though. It's one of my favorite solo games. Easy, fast.
@@thediceyreview you're welcome! I do have a question i stumbled upon while playing the game, do you know what happens if you activate the two out of five effect and you get 3-5 moisture tokens? Do the moisture tokens count as the 2 that were you need to remove remove? If so The rulebook say you have to remove exactly 2 tokens, in the case of 3-5 tokens you would have to remove more than 2. And if they do not count for 2 you need to remove, what happens when you draw 4 or 5 moisture tokens? You can only remove 0 or 1 so you would not be able to carry the action. Thank you!
Hello. When you are playing on the beginners side of the board. I believe you have 3 flavor tokens already (one of each color) at your disposal, whenever you want. But when you start putting on beans in your cup, can you then just choose one of the flavor tokens whenever you want from the board, if they have not been used throughout the game, or do you have to put them in to your bag in the end, before you start drawing? 🙂
Checked BGG forum for this and couldn't find a ruling, so I'm curious about your interpretation: for two-out-of-five, does a moisture token that is removed immediately count as one of the removed tokens? Or would I still need to remove 2 more tokens, leaving me with 2 remaining? Thanks in advance!!
Bit of a late response, but here's what the original Saachi rules say (can't find the Stronghold rules online, so they might say something else): "If any Moisture Tokens are drawn among the 5 then they are NOT automatically removed from the game. if any Moisture Tokens are not selected for removal, then they return to the bag."
This was an excellently organized and presented overview of the game! However, please review the script of the rules description-I think you used the phrase, “It’s important to note...” way too often! Some possible solutions: 1) For certain rules or consequences, just state them. We trust that almost everything in the video is important to note- that’s why we’re watching! 2) For rules or effects that you think might be easily overlooked, counterintuitive, or somehow break the symmetry of the game, call those out in a descriptive way. Referring to these features as “important to note” may be too generic. 3) If there is a list of rules or game effects that the community frequently overlooks, perhaps save those for their own section of the video. 4) Similarly to #4, if there are some game features that are always true, but the viewer needs to know more about the game before understanding their significance, those might merit a separate section as well. For example, if moisture tokens are always immediately removed from the game, when drawn from the bag for any reason, that can be called out separately. (You can still mention it during applicable game phases as well, to reinforce this, but you won’t need to say “It’s important to note...” as often.) Everything else about this video was quite good! Thanks for putting this together! Edit: One more suggestion-maybe some very high-level beginner strategy? I think you did this to some extent, but it could be emphasized more: what are the most basic tips for getting a good score? (e.g., use your abilities to remove negative points from the bag, use the total roast value and the bean count to determine roughly what your average roast score will be, figure out the average bean value for that score and work towards consistency, etc.) Not all gamers want this level of handholding, but others will want some initial direction-and I think those viewers are likely to be watching a video rules explanation!
Have been so confused with the rule book and also watched so many videos, but found this is the best walkthrough for Coffee Roaster ever made.
Thanks so much! The app helped me learn quite a bit.

Extremely good run through. I have been staring at rule book for way too long.
Thanks so much! Glad it helped, this rule book was tough for me too.
Great walkthrough! Super easy to follow. I'm excited to get it to the table!
Thanks! I tried the app a couple of times but never understood it, until now. Great explanation!
This is an excellent clear summary! Many thanks - I’m ready to give it a try!
Such a great explanation, thank you.

It’s great! It’s a new printing from stronghold. I enjoy it quite a bit and the phone app is fun too.
Nice job Paul !
Thanks Paul!

You are correct and if I remember correctly you put them directly from your board.
I apologize because it’s been a bit since I played but I believe that moisture tokens are removed immediately and don’t count against the number.

Oh no! I hope I didn't make it more complicated than it needed to be.
