I love this game and how it rewards strategy and preparing. You say you were very lucky, but the fact is that you prepared the bag quite well. You strategized and planned very well which is why that luck helped you. Really good playthrough and I keep coming back to this if I have forgotten the rules and need to re-learn it. Thank you.
I bought this game a few days ago to try it out at my first day of holidays. Unboxing was great but the rule book not so. Watched a handful of video’s and this tutorial really got me on the right track!
Thanks for this. I recently got the game and went through the rules, I thought I understood it but your video really clarified a bunch of stuff I would’ve gotten wrong.
Nice video. It helped me a lot to grasp the mechanics of this game. Thank you. Incidentally, one small error beginning at 22:18 that I noticed (according to the rules that come with the app) was that you used a green "preservation" token and preserved a 2 bean which is ok and a hard bean (x) which is not allowed along with defective and burned beans.
@@OneStopCoopShop 😂 Given the age of your video I figured you may have but I thought it worth adding a comment for new players (like me!) who might also make the same mistake.
This has probably sat on my shelves for 3 years, unplaced, but I read the rulebook, grokked it, and tried a trial round and scored it immediately (for a very low score, with almost all zero beans 😅), watched this video to confirm my understanding. The correction given will help others, but I understood from the rules, I guess most people won't make the mistake Mike made. I don't get how he made that mistake, yet otherwise played so well! Mike you're a genius!
It doesn't really say about using zero, and one over several rounds. It says collect them over several rounds, and use them when you get them. So I always use them both at the same time, in the same round.
Like everyone else in the comments, thank you! Now it makes so much sense. I read and re read the rules and just couldn’t figure it out. Even tried the app. But within 10min of watching I went ohhhhh, now I get it! To the table Batman!!
It should be explained on page 8. You can first use flavor tokens for immediate effects on the left side of the board, then use remaining flavor for their specific color-based flavor effects in the middle. But it’s been a while, so I could be way off!
@@mcnationprod basically it means that in one round, if you wish to use both immediate effect and flavor (cup) effect, you have to do the immediate effect first. It just means that you can’t put tokens on the right side of the board and then do the left side in one round.
It's always best to take the wild early because the more roasts you do, the less chance you have of getting a 0 and 1. Also, at 22:25 in the video, you're not supposed to preserve the hard bean. Per the manual: "Hard beans, defective beans, and burned beans cannot be preserved."
How very true: the rules are very vague infact,so much so that I've had this game for nearly 2 years and still haven't played it ! It is really annoying to hear how good a game is and then be let down because of the rules. As a solo player this game appealed to me and now it really is time to sort my prejudices out and concentrate by learning while watching.....As is usually the case 😊 I still cannot use the table so this seems tray-size orientated...I hope ! Anyway, thanks so much.
Michelle unfortunately I agree. I had to look up a lot of little details on BGG, and even then some people only knew the correct rules because they had played the app and saw how it ran things.
One Stop Co-op Shop i thought it was just me. Thanks for doing the extra work. My local shop helped me pick out some solo games as this is the first time I have played games like these. I was excited and set it all up and started playing with the directions and was stumped when I got to the part about the effects. I will definitely be checking RUclips to supplement the written directions of the other three games I got. 🙂
Thank you very much for this playthrough. It helped me a lot. Quick question; when I use a blue, green or red token to obtain an immediate effect, I don't execute the flavor effect? And I have to execute the flavor effect to put a red, green or blue token to a cup effect, right?
Correct on both counts. If you can't do the flavor effect (like you don't have a big enough bean to break it up), you can't place the colored token toward earning the cup effect yet.
Im excited for the arrival of this game...I was wondering what are the chits made of? They seems to click each other so I assume they re not cardboard?

Thank you for this wonderful playthrough! Really appreciate you explaining your planning stage.
Glad you found it helpful :)
Super helpful! I watched a few other video's but could not figure a few things out. This helped a ton- got it!
Glad to hear it
Well done. Finally, someone explained this game in a way that made sense to me. Thank you.
Great! Glad it was helpful :)
Like the old artwork better with the coffee roaster in the background and the coffee cards. Great solo game!
I've seen that sentiment a lot. I never played the original, so don't really have an opinion :)

Glad it was helpful!
Excellent and clear playthrough!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent. Very clear, explaining all key points. Looks fun.
Martin Butcher thanks!
awesome playthrough. thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice play through. Bought this game a few days ago as my first board game, and even though I’m terrible at it, I’m having lots of fun.
That’s great!

Carl Revell thanks for catching that, though I’ve already moved the game on :)

Oh absolutely! We never mind those kind of comments. Even if the video was 4 years old

@tmcd5049 I may not be a smart man, but I know what beans are
Super helpful for clarifying -- I've played the app a bit and it's directions... leave some things to be desired. Thanks a ton!

TO THE TABLEEEE

nice job! You played really well, that last cup phase: WOW :D I have the Japanese edition. I love this game.

Nice! If you want to hear about a bag builder solo game that I vastly prefer over this one, check out our Warp's Edge coverage :)
@@OneStopCoopShop I actually got Coffee Roaster and Warp's Edge today as birthday presents! Looking forward to playing them both.
Amazing!! Happy birthday 🎉

I don’t have my copy anymore, but I’m pretty sure they were cardboard, though really nice cardboard :)
But I could be mistaken!
OK to watch if you already know the game. Not really helpful to try and learn the game.
We don’t present our plays as full tutorials/how to plays, though many viewers find them helpful as such.
