In the UK we have the DVSA who control everything to do with commercial vehicles, they have a traffic light system to rate companies, I was working for a green light coach company but in six months I got controlled ten times (nothing wrong in any control) on the eleventh stop I asked why I was being stopped so much, the guy went and checked his computer and told me my registration had a red light even though the company was green, a green company can not have a single vehicle as red, he apologised for stopping me and said he had looked at all the stops I had and couldn't believe that no one had noticed before, I wasn't stopped again in the next five years.
"You go back home and it makes you appreciate the roads we've got"... "Man, California REALLY needs to fix that pothole! It goes from Sacramento all the way down to San Diego, what a nightmare!"

My sister made cookies once when she was like 10 years old. She must have used a pound of crisco for a 1/2 pound of cookie.. 😂😂 Yes, cookies are even better when mom helps
He got a real treat! I would have given him the hand-me-down driver's seat. I've spent a lot of time in the passenger seat of a dump truck on a non-suspension seat. No fun.
Yes it was a good trip and I very much enjoyed the smooth ride of the new seat , the fantastic views and learning some new information! Thanks for taking is along Casey! 👍
23:00 speaking of heavy, speed will negatively effect your bypass chance too, in wa and id. If you are always getting pulled into the WIM scales, try slowing down to 55 over the pads, like on i90 and i82. I used to get pulled into the Plymouth scale on i82 all the time, but i was almost always empty since i passed it on my way home for the weekend, but going 60 over the pads got me pulled in. Going 55 just for that section resolved that issue
I lived near Seattle 25 years ago. Can't say I'm terribly surprised to hear that the roads are still crap. Since your plates are tied to the VIN, that *should* be an easy reference to make in any sort of IT system. Having worked for the gov't, I would not be the least bit surprised to know that they screwed it up.
You literally drove through my town and within eyesight of my house while you were going to drop off that dump truck! I live in Elma off hwy 12. Welcome to and through Grey's Harbor County. And welcome to Aberdeen where you can literally get it all from drugs to diseases. Lol. Those two nuclear cooling towers you showed are decommissioned and one is just an empty shell. My son and I are big fans of you and your channel, If you ever come back this way I would love to buy you lunch. And you should take the family to see the Tree of Life it's pretty cool.
Casey you are right on not tying up the Star to one income source. Had the same deal hauling aggregate and heavy equipment. Talked to the ownership out of buying another truck once i ran the numbers past them. Great choice with the Zack lift. Take care be safe out there. Greg
Neah Bay! For a completely off topic reaction: first and only time I heard of that place, was in 1973. The rockband Redbone recorded their ‘We were all wounded at Wounded Knee’, which made it to number 1 of the charts for over a month in the Netherlands (and Belgium). So they did a concert here, in the Netherlands, western Europe - and 20yr me was there. The Native American band worked from LA - which sounded relatively common - but drummer Pete DePoe was from the Makah nation in Neah Bay. In those (all paper) days you needed a pretty detailed world map to find my Netherlands, but finding Neah Bay was almost impossible. That’s how you engrain stuff in your brain, forever… Thanks Casey for taking me there, both for the view and the memories.
I did some rescue work at Neah Bay , Wish you were there a fellow employee drove a company dully off a cliff and had to hire a crane for a 600 foot lift and riggers from Seattle and horses and park rangers and trail guides from the Indian Reservation at Neah Bay because there was no road or trail where the truck landed at the bottom of the cliff in a Indian Reservation $16 K in 1981 .What a beautiful place with some intense weather. And I got to see and meet the Rolling Stones and go to 2 Stones concerts in the King Dome while I was waiting for the crane in Seattle.
You are right on about the PNW log truck drivers. They do not spare the whip. I’ve been behind them many times in a car on twisty narrow roads and they just go. Stay in their lane and keep safe, but it’s amazing how they scoot. A special breed of driver, I guess. Thanks for the coast views and the view of Desolation Island. Now I want to take my kayak up there and visit it.
Neah Bay, that means you went by one of my favorite places in the world Sekiu WA. It is beautiful out there and the fishing is good. The Bay Cafe makes some great food, but the big truck wouldn't fit in the town, lol. And yes, are roads are terrible.
I hope you had a chance to visit Cape Flattery while you were up in Neah Bay. Cape Flattery is amazingly beautiful and there is an island just off shore with a lighthouse.
Absolutely beautiful scenery😊 You are such a natural at explaining everything about your job to the camera! Keep up the great videos and stay safe out there!❤️🙏
I thought that Island at the farthest NW point was Tattoosh Island. It is in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. You can walk out to the point that is the actual real geographic location. That is also an Indian reservation. Beautiful location
Aberdeen loops like it could a be a really cool little town, but driving through first thing in the morning with homeless people sleeping literally everywhere makes it a place I would never want to take my family to visit
Nice little California stop by that dump truck after the owner took it after delivery or as some people know it as a rolling stop lol 😂 love your content bro been a long time fan keep up the bad ass recoveries and videos man Casey your the 🐐 🤘🏼
Listening to you talk about e-logs, brought memories back. The best thing since sliced bread, they do all the work for you.. and when the dispatcher says, when can you be here? I say tomorrow. And he says you’re not good to me and hangs up. Been retired for a year now.
when i left home in 1970, one year after grad, and moved to maryland, the worst roads in sc, were better than the best roads up north. now i am back in s.c. and the roads are as shitty as the ones around baltimore. upkeep has deffinately suffered.
I drove a 40’ long heavy wrecker up to Neah Bay to pickup a bobtail and take it back to Tacoma and I can definitely say that the road there REALLY sucks in a large truck… lots of ups and downs and tons of corners and curves!
We've got a truck at my company that's been doing a parked regen almost weekly, and it's only a year old. Mechanics swear there's nothing wrong with it. I'd say that two in the time you've owned it isn't really a big deal
That last bit of road out to Neah Bay is nasty even in a car-narrow, windy, and trying to fall into the sea! Beautiful views though, especially if you hike out to the point.
I remember about 20 years ago a new air ride seat cost £4000, I think it was an ISRI seat but don't know for sure, I do know I went about six months on a broken seat before my boss would spend the money.
Funny, I spent 9.5 hours on the road today at work, watching you drive around and grab gears is making me wanna get right back in the truck 😂 guess its not a bad thing to like your job 🤷♂️
That computer program you bought should allow you to adjust your maximum cruise idle. Ours was older and we were able to. But it was CAT. This is why I said should. If not, your favorite Detroit mechanic should be able to do it for you.
Casey, Highway 20 is apparently the longest highway in America, at over 3350 miles long. It starts in Newport Oregon and ends in Boston Massachusetts. I have driven all the sections from Newport to Boise and some in Wyoming and Nebraska, but I have put driving the whole length on my bucket list. See America coast to coast on the byways instead of the freeways. Das Dutchman Essenhaus (the largest restaurant in Indiana) is along the way and looks to be one stop I will need to make.

LOL, camera view on the trip home makes it look like your truck is running sideways and you aren't even looking down the road. Unique!

@@--_DJ_-- Same when I was really young I spent a lot of time riding passenger in a gmc general and chevy bison they were both loud and rough.

Yep, and this truck does a lot of it, especially in cold temperatures
