- You never know what kind of adventure you're going to end up on when @quintonbartolotta calls, and this one was definitely a BIG one! One of Quinton's rental trucks blew an engine right before it was supposed to go on rent to a gold mine, but luckily he had a spare in his Iron King parts inventory. The only problem was that the spare engine was at the Oregon warehouse, and the truck was 400 miles away in the Nevada shop.
So I yanked the @zackliftinternational4841 off of my @SeriousTrucks, hooked up mu new to me flatbed trailer, loaded up the @caterpillarinc 3412 engine, and headed into the Nevada mining country!

Why not a 10/2 spread???
Because it’s pointless
@@CaseyLaDelle why is it pointless??
@@jamesberggren9029 name one benefit
@@CaseyLaDelle being able to haul heavier on the rear. Less having to scale loads. Better stability during travel.
@@jamesberggren9029 wrong. If this trailer was a spread axle it would actually be able to haul LESS than it can as a closed tandem. If this trailer was a spread with would worse in literally every single way.
Thanks for the help!
Make sure Casey gives you a discount - repeated customer 🤣
@@BWYinYang Friends and family should pay the full price, to support.
@@BWYinYangI would give $50 to Casey if he gives you $100 off!
@quintonbartolotta
Best way for you to thank him is buy one of those "I hate Casey Ladelle" shirts !!!
You and your friends get to play with the coolest toys!
Just joined, retired Freightliner cab over flatbed driver 20 yrs western states. Like the mechanical aspects. Thanks for your work.
Nice that the flatbed's first job is to help a friend!
Those are mighty fine looking windshields you have there!
I don't think I would like to have to do all the driving you do Casey but the views do make it tempting for sure. Stay safe and Healthy.
Yeah I drove/moved for a living, it’s rad to see the country, it loses its zest rather quickly 😂
27:00 - it's always neat seeing the shots with the long arm camera that eliminates itself from the shot, because in this case, you can actually see the camera and stick's shadow.
It funny how it hides the stick but not the shadow.
It is a 360 degree vision camera. Go Pro makes one. ARV $900.00. I thought looking at the Driver's front wheel was cool, yup all those spikes are still attached. When Casey uses this camera in the forest as he has done it shows a different perspective with the surrounding landscape.
He was using an Insta 360 camera and that inspired me to get one, the R1 model which has two lenses, a 360 and a 180. One of his had a lens get damaged, but I don't know if he got another Insta 360 to replace it. It takes great videos, but they use tons of storage and you need lots of processing power to edit them.
Vacation. You deserve It man . Your lady,s are so lucky😊❤
They are both lucky!😊

It’s a lot of fun to be involved with something but not committed sometimes. Thanks for a great episode and a new channel,to watch. Glad the new trailer worked out well, and the family vacation still happened!
If that engine came out of the 773 (60t capacity-used to be 50t) it would be a 3408 and a few pounds heavier the "5 or 6" thousand pounds. Yo Ho HO, It has a "C-12" or some other number classification. They started all the "C" stuff about the time I retired, so I don't know those numbers..
That truck was built in the Decatur, IL CAT plant where I spent 33 exciting years doin lots of stuff. I supervised the paint line for two yrs back in 1978. We would
paint some 15-19 units per shift depending on the product mix.
You have an awesome wife to pack you a great meal. She’s a keeper just like my wife is too. God Bless.
Great Network of Buds that help out each other when things need to happen quick!
Quinton needs a "I hate Casey LaDelle" shirt. Don't we all!! Drive it like its a rental!!!
Thanks for taking us along for the ride.
My brother-in-law is a mechanical engineer, He's spent his career working on new engine testing for the Solar division of Caterpillar, but they are gas turbines used in the oil and gas industry. That monster diesel reminded me of what he does every day, and yes: They are all painted orange.
That new windshield looks nice
I knew that you had a solid plan when you bought your Western Star and it was a very good plan.
So Wise , Thank You . A fine test run . Nice to be able to help a friend .
Thanks for sharing! A true roadtrip!
I would give your trailer a quick paint job just on the outside of the deck frame, the part visible from 50 ft away. I say this only because a trailer that looks old and worn is more likely to attract attention of the ministry of transport, which could increase the number of times you get pulled over for an inspection. The rest looks okay.
Seems like good advice!
Rusty rigs scream "pull me over" a lot louder than painted ones.
Agree - thats advice I got too when i was trucking - don’t attract the law with things that can easily be fixed.
That and the empty Beer case screwed to the back of the Headache Rack
@fergusonhobbyfarm4567 We used to run an old 80 something f800 single axle dump. It was a dog and just begged for the inspector to nab it, but would pass a safety as long as you didn't pay too much attention to the dump box. (Would have made a decent salter with all the holes in it) I remember getting pulled into the scales and the inspector literally rubbed his hands together as he laid down on his creeper. 15 minutes later he popped out and told me my fuel cap was seeping... that was all he could find. Had it been the day before I'd have been in a bit of a spot. That old Detroit leaked like it was going out of style. I had just washed it down to the Detroit blue the day before.
1:51 what an absolutely kick ass trailer! Never seen one in person.
It's always good to see it when you're helping your friends. The hauling part was amazing. Great test run. Thank you for sharing! 👌
Love the variety. You never know what Casey is up to in his videos.
Used to work for a Cat dealer as a crane truck operator. Changed powertrains in a many 773,777,789, D-6 thru D-11, 980's to 992's. We could usually do a engine torque convertor swap in 4 shifts. 1st shift would start, 2nd shift would swap components and replace any hoses and parts. 1st shift would come back and set it back in. 2nd shift would finish sheet metal, topping fluids and running it to test.
I would show up to pull it out and set it back in the machine. back in the day we would do several engines a week. Average life of a 3508 engine in a D-11/777 was 5 to 8,000hrs before needing to be rebuilt. That 773B truck has a 3412 engine. Average life span of that engine is 6 to 10,000hrs.
That engine brings back memories of unwrapping those cat rebuilds at the job sites.
Those are 777 cabs
That’s seems like low hours for needing a rebuild. I work on a surface mine, and we get double or triple the hours before an engine swap
Some days I miss being on the road. I logged over 1, million miles with no accident.
congrats on first load. I am really enjoying your new content.
Complimenting another's Man's LOAD is definitely interesting.
I bet that trailer with all those tires is a maintenance nightmare too, it might be handy an work awesome, holy shit the wear parts are reall on that bad boy, thanks for sharing Casey
It's great to see real men keeping America working and rolling forward. Good job!!
When I used to drive for Redmond Heavy Hauling, I would always end up running out of hours in McDermott.....there was a motel called the Diamond A.....worst motel I have ever stayed in!!! Made Motel 6 look like the Marriott lol.
Seriously clear windshield.
The engine replacement job was like temp. character transfers in '90s Young & Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful 😆First we watched how the engine was replaced on the Iron king channel and now we are watching how the engine was delivered.
One project we worked on was building an automatic test system for the cab electronics for the Caterpillar factory.
Enjoyed the trip from my recliner.
Awesome set up, definitely need to get a pogo stick or something to get all of your airlines and light wires completely off your cat walk. Love the Zack lift set up.
Good morning Casey I always look forward to your videos. You are a busy man and definitely deserve a vacation to rest and relax
Casey that was a great video i enjoy big trucks, heavy equipment and tow trucks your channel covers everything i love thank you very love your videos channel 👍
I’ve got my coffee and snacks ready for the road trip 😎
That was a good load for you there Casey...Some size of an engine that....Stay safe and see you on the next one
That reminds of the time I pulled the engine out of my '70 KW with a borrowed backhoe. Outside on a gravel drive on a cold winter day. Hauled it in my 3/4 ton Ford 70 miles to swap it out with a good engine, only to find out that the "good" engine was buried upside down in frozen mud. Wasted trip.
Gotta love those moments, I have had a few where they said the truck or equipment I was wanting to buy was easy to get to and they where buried behind everything or in the middle of a washout
Gotta love that out door kitchen , pack your own food that you prepare👍
Regarding your "new" trailer one thing I would do is coat it with some used oil to help its longevity. No, it won't make it slippery as it all will be absorbed into the wood.
First load for the new trailer is a rather important ... heavy one ..
And this is how Casey does his thing ... nice job from Quintin ( another of my subscribed pages)
I was a marine mechanic. That’s just a little engine.
That’s one Purdy truck Casey and without all the bling available these days. I Like It!
It's so nice you got the windshield fixed!
Just want to say thank you for the videos you made about ecoflow a year or more ago. Based on your reviews I brought a delta 2 which has been invaluable and have now just purchased the delta max (arrives tomorrow) which will be the main source of power for a remote cabaña that I am renovating in Cantabria, northern Spain. If it wasn't for your channel, I'd never have heard of ecoflow...! Thank you & greetings from Spain 🍷
Out in the middle of nowhere. The first time I went west of Bismarck, ND I said to myself there is nothing out here. The second time I went west of Bismarck I joyfully said, "there is nothing and nobody out here". Beats the heck out of driving east.
Thank you Casey. That engine will not fit my lawn tractor😂😂😂❤.
I was thinking about hooking it up to my RC car.
Perfect for an ultralight❤ up up and away
Not with that attitude it won’t.
But it would be fun to try.
:O I think you'd need some serious base under your lawn, and of course a larger tractor. ;😂
And a Rusty cameo!
Have a great vacation Casey, you earned it!
The variety on your vids keeps everything fresh. Great job and stay safe. Keep up the good work with your Patreon donations. Fully support your good work.
Casey I'm glad you filmed your part of this I watch Iron Kings and watched the whole thing on this motor
Another great adventure for sure!
Love it when the government says you must cut red tape lengthwise, you come along and cut it the widthwise way!
Lawdy, what a beautiful vista! When we traveled we always looked foreword to what was around the next corner, loved seeing from a vehicle! 🚗👍
Thank you 🙏❤️😎🤙
You need one of those self driving trucks for road trips like that. Keep the shiny side up.
Here in the Midwest, running your straps outside the rub rail is no problem. I think cutting off that round bar and putting flat stock so that you can loop your straps around it. Like all the other steel trailers have would be a good idea. Remember to mount your toolbox high enough that it's not a ground clearance problem but low enough that it's not a sliding winch problem.😂
During my misspent youth I worked as a rigger in the strip mines in West Virginia. My job was taking those trucks apart or putting them back together.
A top rigger only on any jobs is indispensable
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Do you ever find your straps vibrating? I know a lot of truckers will put a half twist in the strap on either side of the load to reduce any vibration/ frequency.
And a gentle half- twist won't compromise the strap. Can't recall who tested it
@@netWiz1 I feel like an aggressive half twist would carry the same result.
Your 360° camera from the cab looks really weird, it looks like your driving down the road sideways😅😂
It definitely did look like He was driving sideways, but it was a pretty cool look
Ha ha. You weren't kidding 😂
I like the in cab view, that was a nice change!
Mr Casey you sure look after your gear trucks always clean wrecker gear always clean put away well done my good man
The grill in the shop. Way too clean! 😂 Best food ever!!!
Great job Casey. Thank you 😊
Interesting, informative & great video. So many nuances to what you and others (with the new engine) did. Big time team effort, & you making a big difference transporting the engine. Thanks, best to you & your family.
Nice work. I enjoy this videos.
Here in Australia, for the mandatory break you aren't allowed in the driver's seat at all, most fleet rigs have cabin cameras, to ensure you take the break, dose that tipper have electric motors at each wheel? a lot here do, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thank you I really enjoy big equipment. One of my many jobs experience operating cranes. Thank you for posting all the interesting informative videos on your RUclips channel.
Another cool video, thanks, Casey.
Oooo I likes that adjustable chain sling.
As my father said, Big trucks big troubles….😢
Casey you now have been a cab driver! Keep up the good work.
It takes a big truck to make that engine look "small"!😅
"Go see what kind of shenanigans we are getting into today" sounds like a reason to look at how you could also drag the ZackLift (load on flatbed, use to haul flatbed, etc) "just in case"
Looks like Casey has gone from heavy wrecker to heavy hauler.
Casey, you spend way too much time defending yourself and you don't have to.. Awesome video!!
Good work!
awesome video.....beautiful scenic views....funniest part was rusty inspecting truck when you finally got home...have a wonderful day Casey 😊🐕
Wrenchin through the night are honestly some of the best times.
I like that front bumper shot at the end of the video. Thanks for the video Casey!
Have a great vacation !!!
Great video thank you!
That strap on the motor is workin hard
Trying to save up for a super rural piece of land. Retired welder and manufacturing. I miss working on the big heavy stuff
It's so beautiful out there.
I spent the night at that truck stop!! Good food, although it was about 5degrees when I was there!
Wow that's awesome to watch.❤
Once used a Gilhoffer trailer like that, to remove and reinstall a generator rotor.
Lots and lots of wide open driving here in NV man. Hopefully the weather is getting nicer though, I am sure ready for summer. Great work Casey, glad that the trailer worked out well.
Beautiful views!! Videos are great with them but they're also great without them! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!!
Great job
It’s been a lot of years since I trucked, but back then regs said the straps had to be inside the rub rail. Guess things have changed. Great vid btw.
That’s still the law. But when the way the law wants you to do it is less safe and incorrectly stresses the equipment, the simple solution is to say…. fuck the law.
@@CaseyLaDelle 👍🏻
@@CaseyLaDelle Could you make a second rub rail to be leagl?
@@CaseyLaDellethe law says #ihatecaseyladelle
@@tobiastho9639 was thinking the same thing
Great adventure
Simply awesum!
9:37 incredible control using the excavator as a engine crane.
You should raffle off a trip with you. Next time you head to the wild of Oregon you can bring someone with you to see the amazing scenery.
That stuff is real Heavy Metal!
Good stuff Casey 👍
Great video
Man i love this video! How cool! Thanks for doing this one. I watch almost all your vids
saved the day again, great video
