Well if you can keep your truck out of the snow and ice then one should do so at all cost. Weigh your options and chose carefully. Clearly he made the right choice , especially now he will know that Casey has a fancy undercarriage washer for his truck! LOL ....
Is there a reason so many American low-loaders use a drop neck instead of rear ramps? Almost all low loaders in Australia load over the rear (I think I've only seen one drop neck here, ever) so you don't need to detach the prime mover. It makes for faster, easier loading.
Are you sure you can’t Regen the truck while driving. The Peterbilt 579, Kenworth T680 and Isuzu NPR could as long as you were driving over 35 mph for about 30 min.
I was thinking that as well. 😂 (But since he has already shared a short with the new bumper on the front, I think this was filmed a bit ago and is too late of a reminder.)
Also after seeing so many videos with the Zacklift on the western star the truck looks a bit odd when you detach the wrecker body. 99% of the time i see a bobtail rig its a standard freightliner or day cab that pulls a 53ft box style trailer or flatbed, but seeing yours with nothing attached is odd to me at first buy then i remember you bought that truck with the wrecker body in mind and it all makes sense
Simple stuff for you seems complicated to those of us who haven't done it. Pulling off the ZakLift and getting the trailer adjusted and hooked up properly certainly is important. Making sure big equipment is secured properly for safety reasons for you and those on the road. Glad you do it right and are safe out there.
I remember when the "Lull" or telehandlers 1st hit construction sites, and man, they have just gotten so much better. Amazing machines with way more options these days.

Good morning Casey people need to learn that Truckers leave space so they have room to stop if they need it because they can't stop fast like regular vehicles can. The sprinkler is definitely a genius idea for sure and saves time
Doesn’t mean you should push them in the ditch like Casey said. People are always gonna pass the big truck. There’s a difference between cutting someone off and break checking and someone who’s driving faster than the truck and is just passing to get in front. By the time they pass they should be well ahead and if you’re so worried about your stopping zone, just back off a bit then. Takes patience to drive truck. Saying things like “I’ll just put him in the ditch if he’s going to pass me” is just immature, people like that don’t need to be driving a big truck let alone any vehicle

So I'm driving an Army 7-ton fuel tanker, and if you've ever seen military vehicles, they have massive bumpers on the front, and most of them have proportionally massive winches. At least this one did. So he finally spies an opening, shoves 500 cid, 400 hp into a lower gear, zooms around and jumps in front of me, only to have to slam on the brakes to keep from rear-ending the slower produce truck in front of me. That big an engine and drum brakes on a winding mountain road - perfect. Those things were used at Indy as pace cars, but they didn't have to do that kind of braking. There're times I think a ride along in a big truck would be a useful educational experience as part of drivers ed. I spent the summer after graduating highschool loading moving trucks. They felt even more ponderous from the passenger seat than they looked driving past them in my car. It also made clear how massive the blind spots were.
I have a real problem with Tailgaters. I used to play a game on the interstate called "how slow will they go?" I just slowly let up on the gas without braking. My lowest score was 35...in a 65. Casey why are you waiting on a regen? The motor can regen while driving. There is no need to sit to regen. You might want to get that looked at. Also when you get in from a trip force the regen. You have a regen button on the dash. Push and hold it and it will go into a regen. Sit there or just go in your house.
Lol i use to drive for an equipment rental company and we use to do the same. In some situations its cheaper subbing it out than risking it with your own driver and truck.
Interesting video as usual. I assume your remark about putting the Subaru into a snow bank was made in jest. Pulling into a truck's buffer space is thoughtless and dangerous - unless there is a complelling reason to do that momentarily - like an emergency. And of course putting someone into a snow bank carries a significant risk of creating an emergency.
What a cool way to flush the underside. I would think if you deliberately "put him into the snowbank," there might be some time in the gray bar hotel in the offing and some thinning of the wallet.
Here in Minnesota I was always told to take any truck, salt truck, dump truck out and drive as long as you can through the heaviest rain after the winter to help because just washing isn't enough. I like the tractor sprinkler though! Driving probably gets more flex and vibration through the truck.
your truck should do a regin while driving. I was driving a cement mixer and we ideled a lot, and often just as I got loaded I'd get the "high soot level" warning. When that happens I run at a slightly lower gear to keep my rpms up, and the engine will regin, the light would almost always go off before I got to my customer, If it didn't than after pouring I'd let it high idle.
I put those people in the snow bank too, and I don't even drive a big rig. The amount of people who don't understand that you need a gap in front of you (and a bigger one in bad weather) is just wild. No, just because you gave awd doesn't mean you can drive like it's 30c and sunny out.

I don't know about you Casey- i drive for a living too, I see the sphincters all around thinking of nothing but getting themselves where they need- at everyone elses' expense- i constantly remind myself outloud ..... "Your Van IS NOT A Weapon, Your Van IS NOT A Weapon" sighhhh- thank god for weekends ! and content like yours to show we all have sphincter problems !!! :)
Casey why are you waiting on a regen? The motor can regen while driving. There is no need to sit to regen. You might want to get that looked at. Also when you get in from a trip force the regen. You have a regen button on the dash. Push and hold it and it will go into a regen. Sit there or just go in your house.
Casey, you make it happen great work. I watch a lot of your videos.
Yes, your insurance requires you to take videos. Thats what you tell the next person. Great delivery on such a nice day ! wowzer
With the lift off you can grease the other stuff you couldn't get at the other day. Thanks for the video.
Yep, takes 30 seconds to hit those two fittings real quick and it’s done
The under-chassis wash is brilliant!!!
The tractor wash was idea was on another level.
There's a lot of guys digging through there shops right now looking for there sprinkler. Great idea 👍
Used to do the sprinkler thing with my 4x4's after mudding. Pretty good time saver.
Snow!
Casey your equipment is so versatile. I really enjoyed the photography. Well done Ethan.
Keep working smarter and not harder Casey, you will live longer 😉 no use in working harder than you have too.
Sprinkler is priceless!
Lol i use to drive for an equipment rental company and we use to do the same. In some situations its cheaper subbing it out than risking it with your own driver and truck.
Great job! That sprinkler is an excellent idea!!!
Great video
Interesting video as usual. I assume your remark about putting the Subaru into a snow bank was made in jest. Pulling into a truck's buffer space is thoughtless and dangerous - unless there is a complelling reason to do that momentarily - like an emergency. And of course putting someone into a snow bank carries a significant risk of creating an emergency.
I cut him off and didn’t let him pass me.
That was very interesting to watch you cope with everything going on.
What a cool way to flush the underside.
I would think if you deliberately "put him into the snowbank," there might be some time in the gray bar hotel in the offing and some thinning of the wallet.
Love that tractor sprinkler 😊
Yes, that’s how all trucks work. But I’m sure as hell not going to take the risk of it going into derate up on the mountain
@@CaseyLaDelle don't blame you.
I enjoy watching your videos. You always have such a good attitude even when things go wrong.
I put those people in the snow bank too, and I don't even drive a big rig. The amount of people who don't understand that you need a gap in front of you (and a bigger one in bad weather) is just wild.
No, just because you gave awd doesn't mean you can drive like it's 30c and sunny out.
You've got the high torque impact, take those crank handles off the dolly legs, make an adapter, zip zip
Nice!!!!!
So Wise , Thank You .
