    Nothing beats a cozy night here in Asia, a cup of coffee and solo playthrough from you.

      Ha, that is very nice of you to say, Hank. I'm glad my videos create that mood for you. It's a fine line between "cozy" and "sleep inducing." 😂 Thanks so much for watching the playthrough! Have a great day!

    It's great to see you playing the Crafter correctly; the number of playthroughs where people only start or advance 1 of the 3 items they drew from the bag is unbelievable.
    Nice to see the Crafter beinf productive, definitely my favourite character.

    Not the game for me but, as usual, great video.

      Yeah, you won't be alone in that. This is an experimental game that will really appeal to a specific group of gamers but won't work at all for many more. I'm happy they are trying to bring some ideas from video games into the board game space. Thanks for watching!

    I read that you can only refine one item a day. Is there a revised rule on this subject.
    Thanks for your videos 😊

    Thanks for the video! I own and love this game, about to start Year 6. I've gone one year with each character (including the Innkeeper), and my next year will cycle back to the Farmer. Be sure and check the official FAQ, as there are some drastic changes to the Crafter (ie, each slot can hold FIVE items!!!) I've only played with the (revised/corrected/intended) rules, so I'm not sure how much difference it will make, but some of those later requests are hefty. Hope to see more!

      Thanks for the heads up on the corrections. I'll check that out immediately. My goal is to do exactly what you have done and play through a year with each character. I'm looking forward to seeing how they all play. I'm not sure when more videos of Mythwind might occur, but we'll see. Thanks so much for checking out the video, Bryan!

    Great play through, but as you already said, this is t the game for everyone. I will always check out what you’re playing though.
    Editing comment/theory: when you’re doing your zoom in, you’re just taking the static shot and maximizing a specific spot right? I only ask because I was editing a video the other day and when I saw your work it suddenly clicked.
    As ever, great job.

      Yeah, it is an interesting experiment trying to translate cozy video games into the board game space. I think Mythwind does that well, and I think it will work for many people. Not my wheelhouse, and probably doesn't have staying power for me personally, but I've enjoyed exploring it so far. Thanks!

      Thanks! I have not seen or played the expansions, no. Sorry. I have not even fully explored the base game as I took off for a vacation immediately after filming this playthrough. It seems to have received a great deal of coverage, so there is probably something out there that might help. The new stuff certainly sounds interesting. thanks for watching!

    Hi Shaggy, have you planned to update your top 50 games of all time? A new 2024 Version after your great list from 2022? Cheers!

      Yes, I hope to have my new Top 100 Games of All Time video out in 2-3 months. It will be in the same quick style but now with 100 games! It is a massive undertaking, so it is hard to predict how long it will take, but it is a priority for me this year. Thanks, Kenneth!

    so if theres no actual goal... and it seems like no actual "challenge" or negative affects.... doesnt the entire game state just not matter? Theres no imperative to roll well or do certain actions first... You just do them whenever

      does anything matter?

      existence is futile

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  6 месяцев назад +6

      Yeah, that's mostly right. Now I haven't progressed very far, so I don't know what if anything gets added, but you only have small seasonal goals. You also want to accomplish things before the end of the season, when things reset a bit and some progress can get lost. But the experiment here is to recreate something like Stardew Valley or a million other video games where you do stuff really for no reason other than to progress. There isn't an externally imposed score or win condition to motivate you. That kind of mechanism could easily be added to this, but it isn't here on purpose to recreate that "cozy" gameplay. That will appeal to some players and horrify others.
      I think the experiment is interesting, and the gameplay is fun, but it doesn't completely work for me personally. I doubt it would work for you. As a low-stakes family activity, or a late night unwind game, this could really work for a lot of people. And my feeling is, if it works for video games, why not board games?
      I think a lot of people have a knee jerk reaction to cooperative gaming asking, "What's the point?" I've heard many people ask, "What's the point?" of solo gaming or beat your high score solo modes. Some might ask, "What's the point?" of TTRPGs, solo RPGs, jigsaw puzzles, or a bunch of activities that are about progression without real stakes. I think it will be pretty obvious to people if it is a game for them or not. Thanks for watching!

      @@TotallyTabled awesome, thanks for the detail. Yeah I really want to like this, I love the idea, and am mostly a solo boardgamer as it is... but the gameplay doesnt seem like it has a clear enough objective/reward to work towards that many of the "cozy" videogames do.

    • @TotallyTabled
      @TotallyTabled  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@oogiesmuncher I largely agree with you. Those video games just have so much stuff, the fact that most of the "rewards" are boring doesn't matter as much. Board games have less stuff, so the stuff has to be more impactful. Thanks again!

    I feel like they really missed the target with this game. so much potential wasted. Its a very unrewarding Euro, without point or purpose. While I can appreciate there are those who enjoy a nice light grind. There is no win here, no loss, no challenge, no point. Id rather fail a game with negative 40 points than chase my own tail in an endless circle for hours until I got board of it. Thematically, this game is beautiful, but when it comes to the mechanics and game play; Most boring game ever. No offense to the designers. Every game has an audience. But I'm not in the crowd with this one.

    • @auskali
      @auskali 6 месяцев назад +2

      Then they didn't miss their target because, as you said, you are "not in the crowd with this one". Everything can't be for everyone.
