One of the designers here. Please note the Beta app that Mike played with only has an “easy” mode of the AI. The final production version of the app will also have a “hard” mode for the AI that will make the solo game more difficult
Great playthrough! Many thanks. This will definitely be a nice addition for us to Planet X. They're different enough to be separate games but have similar deduction principles which work really well. As far as I know, the bot cannot react to what you do if it's the same as in Planet X, since the Planet X bot's actions are actually the same for a given game code. For each code, the bot has played that game many times, and the most fun outcome (i.e., not too easy, not too hard) was selected to be its play for that game code. Foxtrot Games describe this on their site's Planet X page, under Solo Game, then scroll down to How It Works.

@Pookiebear I never got a review copy of lost species, so I haven’t played the final version. Based on what I’ve played though I’d lean slightly towards X for having the better puzzle, but species is more accessible
Well Mike, I was on the fence about this one, but now I’m TOAD-ally sold!😅 I’ve never played Planet X, now I want both. Been into solo games with companion app lately, this looks right up my ally! Excited for the Kickstarter!
Good morning Mike. Regarding inputting your guesses. It seems that if the AI took that into account you could potentially completely derail it by purposely choosing wrong early in the game. Or you would have to program it so that it realized you could be wrong, which is the same as just having it not know. It helps you because the AI never makes mistakes. With human error I think there's too much potential to send the whole thing sideways even inadvertently.
Yeah, that’s a really good call. I think having the option of the AI starting with hidden clues would be the better way then. Otherwise I think it will be too easy to consistently crush them with their guessing limitations and logic
Ah darn... Well, at least you confirmed 30-seconds in that it comes with a built in and unknown expiration date (aka an App required for solo mode). It's a pass for me, in that case.
Thanks Mike. A miss for me. Deduction games aren't really my thing, and I'd only play solo, where at present not sure that is where the game is strongest. Love the theme and the board looks great imho. Wonder if I could do a Search for Lost Species/Spirit Island mash up keeping tourists and poachers off the land? lol
I discussed that a bit at the end of the video, but I’m torn… I like the solo better in Planet X (at least currently), but I’m more likely to get lost species to the table because of the theme, especially with my kids

This is great to hear. I figured that would be the case :)

They said there will be a hard mode that amps things up in some way, so that's good enough for me. I know the Planet X bot often beat me.

@@OneStopCoopShop I realize this was posted several months ago, have your thoughts on either or preferences changed?

It’s a golden age for solo deduction with apps. This, Planet X, and mind mgmt.

Haha, love that idea!
If you could only get one, would you rather have this one or Planet X? 🧐 I’m partial to the animal theme, but Planet X has such good reviews haha

@@OneStopCoopShop oops!! That’s what I get for commenting before finishing the video 😂 good to know! Haha sorry about that!
I was going to ask it too but Mike answered it at the end. Thanks for being proactive Mike
