Please note that the course is not offered in 2023. You can watch the six part video series on my website. Here's the first part: www.benitalarsson.com/videos/six-part-video-series-1
I went to boarding school for 3 years in my early teens and we were required to be neat and tidy. Our closets and lockers were inspected every Saturday morning before we could have our freedom for the weekend. This included polishing our shoes. That taught me the power of small habits of tidiness, how much easier it is to return the thing to where it lives immediately than live with it "out" for a week, slowly getting irritated, and losing respect for it. I feel like I'm constantly tidying and putting things away, but the flip side of that is that I never, ever do a "big" tidy. My place is always pretty neat. How I like it.
Same for me while living with my mama, I had daily routine’s for school uniform, shoes, homework and of course the meals. Everything was meticulously planned by mother to keep the house clean and to keep us occupied and learning how to do that as adults. It was sometimes like living in a military camp but today as an adult I can see and I can appreciate the benefits of her rules to my life as a household. Thanks mama for that 🙏🕊
@@fitwithbrittany2706 They literally inspected everything (closets, book lockers, shoes) before we were allowed to leave the building and go hand out with our friends. Motivation was that you were stuck in your room cleaning until the job was well done and they let you go!
@@frithbarbat Same here. My mom would let us make the biggest mess in our rooms while playing, but we knew she wouldn’t let us leave the room until it was back to normal and tidy (of course, meals and bathroom were allowed, but if you wanted to say, go to the living room to watch TV you couldn’t do it until your bedroom was perfectly tidy again).
I really love the way you always let your cats have an appearance in your videos. 😄 Great content anyway, but your purring friends just make it extra special. 😸😸
Mini at the end fixing the blankets was so cute! My pup waits for me to straighten the blankets, then he immediately bunches them up. I suppose he and I have different styles. I'm already on you early bird list! You've been such a help to me during what's normally a very difficult time of year. Thank you for the peaks into your life!
My girl doesn't bunch then up but she does dive up on the bed as soon as it's made and then I'll play with her and we'll both dart around the room. When the bed is not made she sits on the floor wagging her tail, waiting patiently for me to make it so we can play :P
The cat at the end of the video messing up the blankets is hilarious! Typical cat behavior! Love it! Thank you for another great video, and congratulations on leaving your corporate job to produce more great content! I look forward to seeing what you produce, since I've only just discovered your work and have been devouring it. :)
Clean as you go is one of my most favorite things about keeping a clean and tidy home, especially in my kitchen. Airing out the bed...yes ! I do it every single morning. Wearing clothes again... I agree, if they're not dirty, just hang them up to wear again. Your cat must be like having a toddler in your home again lolol tfs 🥰❄☃☔🌞🏜✝💗
I so very much look forward to these videos. I really do. Once when we were having new flooring installed in our kiddo's bedroom, we emptied it of everything and at the end of the day, we only had time and energy to return the bed. He slept in the room without any other furniture, toys, or such belongings. The next day, he remarked that he had never slept so well as he did that night. He said he slept soundly, peacefully, and woke fully rested and refreshed. He theorized it was because his room was bare and uncluttered.
One habit I incorporated in my routine, every second day or so, I add baking sofa in my toilet bowl to take away any odor. It also makes it easier to wash for my weekly routine.
What I always strive to do every night before turning it is to keep the dining table/work table free of anything. Just seeing a clear space in the morning makes a difference in my day. Thank you for your tips!
I always look forward to your videos. I entered the waitlist and can’t wait to watch your class. Congratulations on all your hard work coming to fruition!!
Thank you! Finally a youtuber who DOESN'T make her bed first thing in the morning, because it's better to air it first!... + Your cat at the end... so cute!
Thank you for the beautiful content that put a smile on my face after a stressful day. Watching you declutter, clean and organize is so soothing. Happy simple living. Sending you good vibes and continued support all the way from Botswana.
OhMyGordon! You are either my Soul Sister OR I was Scandi in a past life! As I watched, the more I thought, "This is me!" lol And until I came across you, here on RUclips, Benita, I had not met ANYONE who is like this -- I mean, the immediate unpacking from travel AND from just being out-and-about! Uncanny! Hahaha Love it! Always a pleasure watching (and listening to) you! Congratulations on the new venture, your online course! x
Thank you for your practical tips, Benita, and I simply love the cat undoing your beautiful work at the end of the video; it had me literally laugh out loud. I live with two cats, and they constantly move things around and make my home feel lived in and messy, no matter how hard I try to keep it organised. 😻
Benita, yours is my all-time favorite RUclips channel and source for minimalist inspiration. Thank you for sharing your gifts and calm, artistic presence with us. I always look forward to your latest content, and I am never disappointed.
I hope you have many people want to take your course. I am just like you in my home but I have grown kids I wish would clean a little every day. I don’t say anything to them to keep our relationships nice but I can always hope for the future.
My mum said the same thing about airing clothes outside. It really is an excellent idea. Have you ever sit next to a person on the bus and smell the horrendous BO from the clothes? Airing clothes and bed sheets frequently are a must. Very good video. Thx.
This was a our calming treat after a long day. Tidying by the door we are still working on but it sure feels better when it’s tidy. Thank you for all you do. I now too have a cancer diagnosis and your calm and positivity is so helpful.
Hello from Canada! Two things really clicked with me, not everything needs to be laundered, good idea about refreshing the items. Also, clean as you go in the kitchen, etc. Makes work lighter next time around. Really enjoy your channel. 💟
I live in Canada too and always air my things out on my balcony even for a couple of hours every couple of days. Keeps things smelling nice, especially in the real cold weather or the summer sun. All my blankets go upside too the day I change my bed. My grandmother would only hang her clothes outside to dry, winter or summer to have the same affect. But that isn’t done anymore, so airing outside for a bit is a good thing.

Many May think I’m fuzzy or a freak but less did they understand that it saves so much efforts to tidy up accumulated mess much later. It also prevents the invasion of insects especially in our hot & wet humid weather.
I’m so pleased I taught my children (now teenagers) to put away shows & coats from when they were toddlers. It saves so much time and we never have shoes left by the door. I love that our entrance hall is always clear. I’m lucky we have 2 cupboards off the hallway so we have everything away and just a slim console table with a couple of decorative items on. Can’t wait to see your next video

I loveyour Channel. I learned so much from you and other Channels. You made me realize that I had so many Pens & Pencils that I hardly use. So I decluttered and only have a few. I got a New Portafile for Xmas and I purged alot of Old Papers that I don't need anymore. I also make sure that before Bedtime, the Kitchen & Bathroom are clean and neat so I can start my day with cleanliness.

But now things are starting to get back to normal and he works away (currently in Denmark) yay 😁 my cottage is lovely and clutter free and smelling fresh………until he returns of course 🤦🏼♀️ you have the advantage of living alone. shall look forward to your six part declutter videos x
The problem is having to live with someone who has a difficult time to let things go. And their version of coziness and convenience is to layout everything within reach and sight like a convenient store!
Love your kitties I have 2 in my house & I clean, sweep their litter box & food area several times a day. I want it as tidy as possible. Congrats on creating your course.
