Amazing to see the same indicator stalk on this and my 1988 Austin Metro Surf! haha! What a very different environment for that to live in! Btw, a viewer of my channel suggested me to check your channel out, and so far I am blown away! thank you!
Started watching Ep.17 and realised very quickly this was a series I want to watch from the start. So here I am on Ep.2, just wanted to say thank you, your easy manner, high level production and enthusiasm make this a great watch. Now to ration myself on the next 15 installments.
Very happy to find this series, I am going to watch all episodes. I have done a lot of motorcycle restorations but never a complete car restoration. Ju-jar-oh ; hilarious!!
WTF I only discovered this because of Ronald Finger's youtube channel; and I just started. This is AWESOME. I'm bingewatching from the beginning. This channel needs WAY MORE views what the fuck youtube. This NEEDS to be seen everywhere. Anyways, this dude is like the Irish version of Veritasium. These guys are like long lost twins with different accents
Just found this series. I like the balance, not all fluff, real work, real problems. Nit pick at 3:11 you meant to say resting your foot on the clutch pedal presses the throw out bearing against the clutch pressure plate fingers, not the input bearing.
Well spotted mate I hadn't twigged it! I'm always doing it mate.Like the old Freudian slip when you say one thing and mean your mother ;) You got me though, usually I catch it in the recording and retake or catch it in the edit and overlay a title to correct myself. We call them clutch release bearings over here which is prob why I was thinking bearings.
How do you not have more viewers and subscribers? This is amazing and it's fueling my passion again to try and restore my own car, but I don't have any space for it. Thank you for what you do and showing us!
Just discovered this series and I love it So far. The stop motion and production quality are amazing. Not vehicles I'm particularly interested in but it's so good I have to keep watching. Keep it up 👍
FI-NAL-LY!! Finally someone honours the man by pronouncing his name correctly and making a statement. Giorgetto Giugiaro will thank you forever!! I never could get my head around the fact people (even Harry Metcalfe) keep getting this wrong. Same goes for the name Daniil Kvyat. Why people, whyyyyyyy....??? Soupman, you deserve your statue to be hewn out of a solid block of respect!
I got my grandpas 77 elcamino and I just did the rear drums and front shocks. It had a rebuilt 350 v8 and pretty soon im going to go by sheet metal and make patches :)
Fantastic, bit like Homeland now, cant wait until next episode. Id be a lot more despondent at that RR sills when them came out. Fair play for being upbeat. Realised I missed you at C&C, that E28 is my vessel at the moment.
Cheers Michael. I did have a glance around to see if I could spot an owner but I missed you. It's a smart vessel, from when they built manly cars. The off centre exhausts were messing with my buddies OCD but I love that stuff. Sorry about the phone footage, was having a lazy Sunday. See you at the next one! Oh and tell your friends ;)
I found you through the Bibs interview, I'm a bit of a Lotus collector.... or rather, I just can't seem to part with any of them! After so many years watching pertrolhead content on YT I was amazed to find something refreshing and entertaining. You obviously have a background in video production (I think you mentioned it in ep 1) and boy does it show, stop action is fantastic. I'm now on a binge..... off to ep 3 cheers
Had a real job once yeah, you know the kind that doesn't require you give your soul and free time over to it 🤓Glad to have found you and thanks for the kind words. Now I'm waiting to see these Lotuses on the community page!
Think those bodgy patches on the Range Rover would be my worst nightmare - trying to work out what is original, what isn't and what it should all look like - still loving the stop-motion camera work!
Hi George! just found your channel digging in detailingworld.uk! It´s awesome!!! @10:01 there´s a little Fiat with a badge that says 70HP, here in Argentina in 1981, IAVA (in english means Argentine industry advanced vehicles), produced the Fiat 147 (it´s a restyling of the Fiat 127) called "Sorpasso".. 820kg, 1.3 lt engine, 9000rpm, 90HP and 0-100kp/h in 8 Seconds!.. IAVA also made the Fiat 128 IAVA.. the last restyling had a 1.3 lt engine, 102HP and 9500rpm! that exhaust is a symphony! Cheers from Cordoba, Argentina!!
Hey Fran, greta info thanks mate. I'm going to go look up those cars, they sound like a lot of fun, they must really sing. Sorry for taking so long, cheers!
One of my Triumph friends told me about your vids. As others have said, I like the stop motion effects and the video has the feel of a professional TV programme which is testament to your editing skills. My own classic car (1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850 auto) has been out of action for quite some time so I really need to get my finger out. The Corsa B was in production from about 1993-2000. The electric power steering from a Corsa is a popular mod and is easy to retrofit to classic cars. I'll be watching the other episodes to catch up.
Thanks for the compliment and the info on the Corsa mod. I got bashed a classic car pal for not knowing about the common PS mod and have since seen it on a Daimler V8 250. An 1850 auto seems like an interesting car. I remember seeing a Dolomite charge past me as a kid and thought it was cool.
Hi George, I am glad someone pointed me at your videos, really fantastic. I'll be spreading the word via my Benzworkshop facebook page. Just so you know the power steering on the Corsa B, as you now know IS a common mod, however not all Corsa B's have it. It only arrived in '98 on the 1.0 3cyl Corsa City, the earlier ones didn't have it.
Hey thanks for the share Ben, really appreciate it! Great work mate, I'm a Benz fan and have been working on some Benz stuff for SOUP for a while now. It's coming soon, and [ignoring the Jag for a min] I'm dead set on a W108. Gutted I couldn't afford the two cheaper ones that came up on the Irish ads in the last year at the time.
bloody hell George this good production. I feel ashamed on my channel !!! how the hell you do it! Recognise the poster art, I was into the Athena posters.
DON'T remove the nut holding the steering wheel on and then remove the wheel. Just back it off. The first time you get a face full of steering wheel you learn not to. ( ask how I know). Referbing cars or building kit cars, remember, if you can’t buy it or steal it you have to make it.
George Karellas you can contact "Hilly" in -> thelotusforums/forums ..he is known in global lotus owners community for transplantation of an Audi V8 into an S3 and fit the Opel (GM) electric assist steering servo to it
Thanks for the steer Günter [see what I did there 🤓], good to know where to find Hilly. I hadn't planned to fit PS to the van but it it's easily retro fitted once the project is running.
Ronald Finger told me about you, i am not dissapointed, binge time!!
Same here. Greetings from Argentina

Glad you came! Chuffed Salvage Rebuilds gave a mention :)
I tried pacing. Came back to binge. If you like working on cars this series will motivate you to get off your arse and get to work.
THANK YOU George!
Superb produktion quality. The stopmotion disassembly is so satisfying to watch.
Hey thanks Juuso, please share with your petrol-head pals.
will do ;)
Thanks Suzan for recommending this video in 2019..... RUclips algorithm is broken..... This channel should have 1 million subscribers....
😆 yeah Susan, c'mon girl??
Still not even 100k subs.

Amazing to see the same indicator stalk on this and my 1988 Austin Metro Surf! haha! What a very different environment for that to live in!

That 911 targa is amazing, beautiful green colour.
Ohh and great work also

Episodes drop fortnightly Russell, so you've a two week stretch... make 'em count ;) Thanks a million mate, and don't be afraid to call me to task.
me too.
Very happy to find this series, I am going to watch all episodes. I have done a lot of motorcycle restorations but never a complete car restoration. Ju-jar-oh ; hilarious!!
Thanks Ian, keep at it with the restos, good for the head

lol, I can't get YT to like me. All good though, just do me a favour and turn on notifications :)
This looks like a great series in the making.
Hope so! Thanks for getting in touch. Please share with your car buddies.
This series is epic, some start so far!
Thanks a mill mate, it's demanding but fun to produce. Please recommend to your people!

Dude. You are not your typical gear head. You have some serious skills! Great channel! Love your work!
Not sure I had skills this early in the series, thanks man
You are a mechanic and panel beater now Soup!
Superb! I wish you found you sponsors in the mean time - your vids are a class of their own!
I love these videos with stop motion! This is fantastic.
Glad you enjoy it!
How do you not have more viewers and subscribers? This is amazing and it's fueling my passion again to try and restore my own car, but I don't have any space for it. Thank you for what you do and showing us!
I scare them away by wearing my hat to the front. Glad it's working for you Masada, go with what you got!
This guy needs a sponsor he is a master at stop motion animation
I love that stopmotion disassembly and i love the work you are doing !
Thanks Richie
Loving this so far. Keep the episodes coming.
Chris, don't know how I didn't reply sooner, thanks for the comment!
Just discovered this series and I love it So far. The stop motion and production quality are amazing. Not vehicles I'm particularly interested in but it's so good I have to keep watching. Keep it up 👍
Great to hear, thanks Dereck. I'll convert you to Land Rover or Lotus yet ;)
Here, because of the mention in "engines and unfinished business" looking forward getting up to speed on the series
Hoping I can send people the other way too ;) Thanks a mill Simon
@@soupclassicmotoring no worries. It's good to see another car nut with great production. Keep it up
Love the idea behind this, looking forward to you starting on the Kombi to give me inspiration to start on my 74 bus.
The bus is a bit of a problem child at the mo, I've no cash for new sills, but it'll come online asap! Cheers :)
the quality of this series is phenomenal
Stoked mate thanks.
I love your series, hope it takes off!
Me too! :D Thanks for the support.

I haven't this yet, about time for a binge. ☺️
Keep up the great work. Black Mercedes at 12m11s is my uncles.
Lovely machine Niall, there's a W123 in the family so that'll feature soon. Hope the uncle was happy!
I got my grandpas 77 elcamino and I just did the rear drums and front shocks. It had a rebuilt 350 v8 and pretty soon im going to go by sheet metal and make patches :)
yeah! el Camino.... very cool. Good luck with it.

replaced with other bodgy patches ;)
Great second episode, Love Lotus and VW Vans (old Range Rovers are ok in my book as well)
Good taste mate :)
How can this NOT have more views? :O

If your uncle was struggling before you've just confused him some more! 😂 epic video keep them coming. A how to on the stop motion would be good too!
Thanks bud. Would love to do a bit on my gear and methods but don't want to stray from the cars unless I'm sure people want it.
You made a rhyme btw.
Great series so far the production and edit is superb really enjoyable to watch. Very best of best of luck with it!
Thanks Gav, trying to keep the standard up.

Great stuff George, let me know if I can help with advise/tools etc....
Italian women reading Mel Nichols. Brilliant.
Thought that was a master stroke! We must rebuild the Esprit and cross the Alps and track Anna Lisa down
Best idea keep it up
Thanks a mill!
The power steering on a kombi is supplied by the leverage the huge standard wheel gives you! Armstrong power steering in fact.
😄👌🏼
this is amazing editing....is that a Stop/Go effect?.. as Stop/Go would have taken months to do...👌👌
Wonderful content
Thanks Cain
bloody hell George this good production. I feel ashamed on my channel !!! how the hell you do it! Recognise the poster art, I was into the Athena posters.
Cheers Pete, just doing best I can. Keep it up yourself :)
You've come a long way from a 1275 gt Man :D ---- Kim
I should never have sold that GT Kim, have to try and find it.
Corsa b had electric power steering from 1996/97 IIRC so you were right , thats probably why he get tetchy coz u called him out lol !

what the name SOUP stands for?
Inspired by the old car slang "souped up", but also because it's slang for the sea too. I'll explain more in another episode :)
👏👏👏👏
:)
Did you ever tour the Continent?
I did, twice. About five months total.
God bless you Thank you for all the wonderful videos.I will look at every single video that you Feature.
like and fw
:)
electric servo assist in Opel (vauxhal) CORSA from mid 1980 ?? .. no way I would say
Yeah Paul was mixed up there, '87 is wrong but Corsa B is right... 1993. He did a lovely job on his.
George Karellas you can contact "Hilly" in -> thelotusforums/forums ..he is known in global lotus owners community for transplantation of an Audi V8 into an S3 and fit the Opel (GM) electric assist steering servo to it

more lotus and less rover pls, maybe no rover :-)
😄and our survey says....
I came to see some car restoration, and after 2 videos all I found is a video editing fan guy in love with himself. I am out.
Thanks for the trip through irony. Try this one, 1min of douchebag, 1hr 27 of pure car restoration ruclips.net/video/bRs-4AXb9_U/видео.html
