Thank you for the video! Everything worked as expected with my Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra (updated to 12.5.17). The only other thing worth noting is that one must use PIN-code or password instead of graphical key for device unlocking. But it is easily configurable in the system settings.
What do you mean by must? I don't use any screen lock, are you saying the update process requires some sort of PIN or that the update removes the option of graphic key?
@@glacialimpala if you use any kind of screen lock (PIN, password or graphical key) Android will encrypt all your data storage. In that case upon logging in TWRP it will ask you to enter the key. But there is no way to enter graphical key in TWRP since it only offers a text input field. So you should either switch to PIN/password (and enter them) or just do not use anything. But the latter is not secure in case you lose your phone.

Excellent tutorial. Easy to follow. Only thing to add you must remove passcode from phone to update the rom otherwise you won't see the internal storage in recovery.

When you are updating you only need to clear cache, all your data will be on the phone. You only need to clear data when it is a fresh install. example from Chinese to EU rom.
It doesn't matter Which option u choose the right button is the quickest takes you straight to English language rather than the other steps shown in the video
if you have screen lock or fingerprint set on your phone. When you first lunch the TWRP recovery you have to enter the unlock code (PIN) to give it access to your storage.

It s a matter of trying the Global ROM, the ROM from Xiaomi.eu forum and EEA ROM to decide the one you prefer. Just make sure you don't lock the bootloader

I am currently running the Stable EU ROM 12.5.12 however I was able to download on my MI11 the STABLE 12.5.16, but when installing it via TWRP, it does not work. All is good the phone does what is should, however, after it reboots, it reboots in the 12.5.12 ROM and has the Update button still there for the 12.5.16 version. Is the TWRP release not working for the 12.5.16 ROM? Much appreciate your response on what I might be doing wrong. PS. 12.5.12 EU ROM was installed via fastboot as I was on Chinese ROM before.

My problem solve... I try to press UP and hold Button, final can get my Storage back and i direct copy again ROM file to Folder TWRP. And following again the step to reboot back to TRWP step and install. Finally get install it to storage and work...LUCK!!

I received the MI Ultra 11 (with Chinese stock rom). I unlocked the bootloader and installed the global rom (V12.5.2.0.RKAMIXM_20210531). It is running fine except I cannot use google pay because the app considers it to be rooted. The question is, can I relock the bootloader with this global rom, Is there a risk of bricking it?

hello TOPFONE4YOU very good job I had tried to flash TWRP in fast loader but i got the following error (C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>adb devices * daemon not running; starting now at tcp:5037 * daemon started successfully List of devices attached) my phone already unlooked and has been installed global eu rom in mui unlooker its appearing infast boot but in Minimal ADB not showing the phone and giving error any solution please
Remember if you update going from Stable to Stable, all you need to do is install the rom downloaded to root of your phone, then wipe dalvik. If you are going from Stable to Weekly, or Weekly to Stable, a complete wipe of your phone is recommended and then install the rom downloaded to the root your phone.
Sorry, are you saying this process in the video can be simpler for us who always use Stable or are you just stating some difference between weekly and stable?

Glad to hear I could help. If you have a screen lock enable, you have to ENTER the Unlock PIN in order to allow TWRP to access the phone storage.

If you have the ROM from Xiaomi.eu you need to use TWRP recovery to update. The official Global/EU ROM should update as normal

0:46 mine does a restart to recovery but then doesn't update, just options to boot in safe mode, repair mode etc. Strange

Yes, now that you have TWRP recovery you will be able to receive OTA update.

has your bootloader been unlocked? if so make sure you download the correct ROM for your device

Sound like your phone storage is encrypted, make sure you put the Screen Unlock PIN when you first boot TWRP recovery

Unable to install Xiomi.eu fastboot rom via TWPR, I followed the step, installed TWRP first then copied the rom to internal storage, then while selecting on install it restart the recovery.

You can only update ROM from the same region without format data, however I would advise to always backup your data prior to any update.

No, You only do this if you unlock the bootloader and flash the Xiaomi.eu ROM. The official Global ROM will update as normal

You will need to download the fastboot ROM and update using your computer. TWRP is not supported in MIUI13

I received the MI Ultra 11 (with Chinese stock rom). I unlocked the bootloader and installed the global rom (V12.5.2.0.RKAMIXM_20210531). It is running fine except I cannot use google pay because the app considers it to be rooted.
The question is, can I relock the bootloader with this global rom, Is there a risk of bricking it?
No, once you flash the ROM you cannot lock the bootloader because it will brick your phone. Try the ROM from xiaomi.eu which comes with safetynet pass

Remember if you update going from Stable to Stable, all you need to do is install the rom downloaded to root of your phone, then wipe dalvik. If you are going from Stable to Weekly, or Weekly to Stable, a complete wipe of your phone is recommended and then install the rom downloaded to the root your phone.
