I've made 3d plastic rounds with 1inch nails in them. Looks like a mini tank round. Used them for my .22 pellet gun. Pretty accurate for something 3d printed and tons of penetration
There’s just something about can-cannons that stays enjoyable to watch, the still considerable blast from the blank mixed with the satisfying “pop” of a potato cannon/noobtube combined with the range of projectiles it can fire… such a cool and fascinating thang
The skits are so great honestly. Great job Scott and team! Also scott is out here asking the questions that are burning deep down but too afraid to ask.
As far as low-velocity slugs go, that diabolo shape at 10:00 worked pretty amazing, and the fin-stabilized "bomb" shape would be a close second. Both look like they have the potential to do serious damage, with the latter clearly breaking ribs, and the former being placed so well it looks like it would have impacted the torso's heart. As I've learned from Taofledermaus, most weird shapes, grooves, and fins intended to only generate spin-stabilization really don't work; projectiles either need to exit the barrel spin-stabilized or have some sort of passive aerodynamic stabilization.
lol. That one looks like a Fatman mini nuclear projectile from Fallout. Yes, the Fatman is probably based on the nukes dropped on Japan. Well, that and the Davey Crockett vehicle mounted portable nuke.
The bomb shaped one has been squished lengthwise, if it was longer there would be more room for air to get forced through the fins. I can probably improve the performace when its squished down like that if i shape the projectile to force air back through more efficiently. I was the one who designed it, 3 years ago.
Hey Scott, I've had much better luck loading the cans in with the tab side down. Believe it or not the top of the can is stronger than the bottom. It doesn't quite make sense to me but I haven't had any cans explode since
It is stronger on top because it is a thicker independently made piece designed to not crack open without a lot of force. The thin metal around the cover piece ,that rips when you open the can, that preprogrammed zone around the mouth of the can is the same thickness as the body and bottom of the can to hold pressure. The body and sides are drawn I to a cylinder shape and the top is crimped on . That's why it's stronger.
You can also put a small tab of Gorilla tape over the tab, and that will help alot. Just don't have the tape sticking ove the edge where the side of the can rubs the barrel
The thing about the ballistics dummy is that it doesn't show you the soft tissue damage being done. Yeah, he's not cut up, but any one of those impacts could have caused major internal bleeding.
Scott you truly are the king of intros because they're always funny and you never fail to give us subscribers a good laugh and for that I say thank you 👍
😂 the beginning skit kills me every time! I noticed a pattern with the monsters, if u tilt the barrel down slightly the can explodes before it leaves the barrel but when it is tilted up slightly the can stays whole.

I bought a Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum Performance Center 10.5 inch barrel. Shot off some 700g hard cast ammo Best gun ever! 🔫 You inspired me to buy one! Well worth it! Thank you Bro
I was so sure that the projectile with the curved fins was going to catch the air and spiral toward the target in a dead straight line as though it were fired from a barrel with rifling. Who knew huge pellet gun would be effective against zombies! My favorite was probably the miniature nuke, reminds me of Fallout 4. A great video, I can't wait to see what else you shoot from it! Also, where was that grappling hook when Matt was hanging his rope swing?!? Lmao
The “nuke” round looks like it could be a good riot control round if it was made from softer rubber. Also, I would like to see a discarding sabot golf ball round. That would be moving with some good velocity and probably could penetrate. Discarding sabot rounds would be interesting.
Stop giving them ideas like that. I used to participate in protests and some turns into riot. The rubber bullets they have now are doing enough damage already.
Imagine you are a rioter and you get hit with what feels like a rubber ball and get a cracked rib only to find out that what you got shot with looks like a buttplug.
Have to say, before I watch this whole video. I have a golf ball launcher that I purchased at a gun show. It is a 5.56 and for adding onto the end of an AR and not a full and separate system like in this video.
Now all I would need to get is some of those 3-D printed pellets. Looks like the pellets for an air/pellet rifle. So if there are any way to get the dimensions to make them myself or a place to try and order them. I would be very grateful for that information.
That Diablo pellet was fucking insane. I've got a 3D printer so I may have to give that a shot myself. Of course, I don't have a can cannon (let alone a 308 version) but I'm thinking I might have to change that. I will say that I think there are two things that will have a tremendously different result (of the more lethal variety): cans that don't have a carbonated liquid and cans that don't have a pop top. If we can get some regular soda cans that have like water or iced tea, they'll be much less prone to premature explosion. And if we can find some cans of the same size, but that require a can opener (like beans or soup or something) then they will just stay intact until they hit something HARD... Maybe we can solicit X-Products to make some soup can cannons... Oh baby...
Interestingly those monster cans kept exploding.. in an attempt to cut costs over the years, the bottling companies have cut the can sidewall thickness down until its stupid thin, at 0.00382 inch, or 3.8 thousandths of an inch, which is approximately the size of a human hair, which is crazy. But in shipping the cans would rub a hole in themselves, so they came up with a epoxy resin clear coating on the aluminum that's very abrasive resistant for a period of time.. but it still wears out quite frequently.. 👍🏼🇺🇲 Keeper of useless facts I am.. oh, I also drink bourbon and smoke cigars.. lol 👊🏼 😆
No wonder those fuckers get ruptured so easily. I've been stocking the coolers at my work for the past 4 years and I can't tell you how many times I've rupture a monster. Like I would just barely graze it on something jagged/slightly pointed somewhere and pop. Very irritating.
Glad you enjoyed them. Was great to see them in action and slow-mo. Totally surprised the whistler bomb shape flew so straight and the finned one flopped. Guess I'm making more of those from now on. amazing vid scott! loved the can cannon would love to play around with one as well but i live in the netherlands unfortunately. keep em coming scott! AND NOBODY LIKES EGGPLANTS!!
@@DutchTraveler The Can Cannon's chamber can accept a live round. I have a 5.56 model and have my blanks loaded in a different colored mag. You asked a very good question that I hadn't actually tested myself. Mine's got some buildup so the round didn't seat until the BCG slammed forward and it COMPLETELY SEATED to my shock and surprise. And yes, I just right now tested this.
@@theschwag Good to know. I know some people use clear mags for their can cannons so they can see if there is a problem with their ammo or if someone accidentally loaded a live. Guessing that if you were to shoot a live from a can cannon, it would keyhole really quick.
@@DutchTraveler I'd say we need Scott to test that for sure. Science gives me 2 possible scenarios. If there's a container of liquid loaded in and a live round goes off, there's a possibility the container will rupture from the impact of a bullet ripping through the end of the plug and tear your Cannon apart, along with possibly the rest of your rifle and part of you. Or, the expansion of gasses would push the container out just far enough to explode just outside the barrel and still damage your cannon. Well, maybe a 3rd possibility... The Can Cannon is built strong enough to handle the forces of a noncompressable liquid and it just sprays like a liquid shotgun blast.
Scott thank you for making the content you do as a recoil junkie that doesn't really have a place to get my fix,😂😂😂 your videos scratch that itch just enough!! This one is one of my top ten.
That is solid lol wonder if ya can get the dimensions and maybe 3d print more unique ammunition types for it don't know what composites might work to sustain that much force though 🤔
I don't think reusable is really the way to go, for PLA rounds it costs pennies to print and as shown do some damage but it is a light material maybe fill a shape with sand?
@@conanlucas6183 you know, I thought about your comment, and a realization occurred, a reusable 3dp projectile could have some unwanted legal ramifications if someone was so inclined. Individuals printing such things are a fraction of the individuals who have one of these devices. Basically yeah. Make em cheap, make em work. But make them in such a way that reuse is nearly impossible.
Ya know bud, in all honesty I had a bunch of questions regarding the can cannons ever since I first saw one and you answered dang near every one of em.....Well done Sir. Ty for the content.

Wait a second! Scott Daddy’s name is “Dubya”? Also, the fact there isn’t a double barrel can cannon is ludicrous
You know ive always had my opinions on gun enthusiasts but you are actually one of my favorite youtubers right now.
Keep up the good work man
My 5 year old loves the videos. We watch together all the time!
He wants to give you a heart ❤
I do have one question with Can Cannons: is it possible to accidentally load a live round in one, or is there an internal piece that prevents it?
I believe the chamber is too short (/doesn't have a throat) for a "live round".
@@theschwag shooting Molotovs from the can cannon…?
6:49 Thanks I couldn't tell
I dont think ill ever get tired of hearing this guys laugh
"But it can also look worse." Words of a killer. Because that ballistic dummy got absolutely DESTROYED.
10:10 that hurt my solar plexus just lookin at that.
Awsome as always but...im suprized you haven't thought it up yet but i was wondering if paint cans fit in there? Sure would be cool if they did !!
Scott you never disappoint with the intros buddy 🤣 🤣
Scott thank you for making the content you do as a recoil junkie that doesn't really have a place to get my fix,😂😂😂 your videos scratch that itch just enough!! This one is one of my top ten.
That is solid lol wonder if ya can get the dimensions and maybe 3d print more unique ammunition types for it don't know what composites might work to sustain that much force though 🤔
Carbon fiber reinforced might do it
I don't think reusable is really the way to go, for PLA rounds it costs pennies to print and as shown do some damage but it is a light material maybe fill a shape with sand?
@@conanlucas6183 you know, I thought about your comment, and a realization occurred, a reusable 3dp projectile could have some unwanted legal ramifications if someone was so inclined. Individuals printing such things are a fraction of the individuals who have one of these devices. Basically yeah. Make em cheap, make em work. But make them in such a way that reuse is nearly impossible.

FALLOUTTTT
Ya know bud, in all honesty I had a bunch of questions regarding the can cannons ever since I first saw one and you answered dang near every one of em.....Well done Sir. Ty for the content.

Suggestion:
50bmg blanks can cannon
That’s not a suggestion, that is a secret category on HornPub
I shot my friend's can cannon with 5.56 blanks while working seasonal in alaska, after 12 cans my shoulder was feeling it lol
@4:59 that's what HE said 😂
4:35 vid gets going
Missed opportunity to wear a can bandolier
candolier
2:06 get white ones and you will have bunch of ballistic dolls for a different use.
7:22 maybe you'd think of NOT shaking the carbonated beverage if they keep exploding but that's probably just me.
Whatever you do do not text that number
