The Biblical Case For The Existence of Mermaids | Episode 7 w

  • Contrary to popular belief, Mermaids are not beautiful and benevolent creatures. If they do exist, they are malevolent and wicked creatures with one desire - exacting their hateful revenge on the sons of men.
The Bible tells us that the angels who rebelled against God were cursed and fell from Heaven. Their offspring with the daughters of men were cursed and became the Nephilim. But what about the mothers of the Nephilim? What about these women who chose to procreate with the fallen angels? What was their punishment?

I also think that throughout history, sailors from many cultures had a great deal of fear for the seas and oceans, bc many of them could not swim. Crazy though, not what you’d expect from hardy men who lived on the sea, right? But it’s true, and they were a very superstitious lot. Many “monsters” were simply misidentified sea creatures, both alive and dead.

You could also use it as a teachable moment, not that you have to, but just if you ever wanted to, and discuss how she was rebellious, and how she gave up her family and how it harmed her, and how it harmed her father. My kids are older now, 15, 13, and 9, but I have always talked with them about things they watch or read and how certain agendas are pushed and how we can spot them and how we can see how things aren’t always what they seem.

@@jseehowitsbeen3177 My children are all adults now. I am far past having tiny ones needing teachable moments lol. Rest assured I was clear with my children why certain things were the way they were. They did not get any media unless I watched or read it first.
Also, I hate the phrase 'teachable moments'. No reflection on you for your choice of phrase. I just feel as a parent every moment is about instruction and teaching a child by example, words, actions etc. on how to be functional, honest, content and useful members of the human race. Advocating for the idea of 'teachable moments' just feels icky to me, as if there are only specific times and spaces for guidance when raising a child. I am of the opinion the whole parent-child relationship is the 'teachable moment'. My interactions with my children were all instructive whether intended or not.

Cornwall has a story of a young man who sang so sweetly that the mer-people would gather on the shore to listen. One of the daughters of Manannan Mac Lir convinced her father to actually let her personally attend the church so she could hear this young man sing in person. Mac Lir finally relented. She learned to walk upright. After the service the young man noticed her. She tried to get back to the shore, before he caught up to her, but she tripped and fell. When the people saw her true form, they began to stone her. The young man picked her up and carried her into the ocean. He never returned to land. But the people of the village say that they can still hear him singing. Especially when a storm threatens their fishing fleet.

You have alot of variables, firstly. The evil one and his buds mascarade, wearing many hats. Evil likes to mock God's creation. Being unable to match the genius of God they fall to deception. They can't even procreate naturally therefore they will present in various ways to varied persons for the desired effect.
Then, realize that we humans have been created in the very image of God and can choose to accept Christ and obtain cleansing and forgiveness along with eternal life. Of this the evil ones are very jealous. They gather intelligence on us in many ways., learning when, where and how to work their shoddy deceptions on individuals. They work with our weaknesses. They hope to get some intriguing reactions from their victims who are unprotected persons without Christ, usually. Also, there are people who seek them out, hoping to talk with loved family members, etc who have died. This is wrong. It pleases the evil ones bc they can get false attention, praise etc. By doing so, they can mislead many, terrify others and lead others into the occult and eventually, to a lost eternity bc they hate us. They hated God and His Christ longer and attempt to lead us away from Christ Jesus.

Although all three gentlemen make good points about the mermaids, a lot of fear that the men have of mermaids, which by the way women don’t fear mermaids, but the real reason why men fear mermaids is because they can’t control them because they can’t have sex with them so that makes the women the mermaids, more powerful, and that in a way frightens the men and makes them feel insecure. I’m sure I’m saying this all wrong but there’s something to be said of a mermaid woman who can’t be subdued or controlled and is free that could be scary to a lot of men, but I love you guys. I enjoy your show immensely and I’ve learned so much thanks for bringing up my favorite thing the mermaids.

I also believe post flood or Christ that vampires and werewolves could be real and they are cursed humans of today of something bad they did. I also believe they can be saved but have to love with the consequence till Christ returns. Look at Saint Christopher. Some believe he was a werewolf.

Genesis 6 and Jude gets into the what happened at a high level.
As to a historical account, first century Jews and Greeks would have honored (non canonical), 1 Enoch as a fact. This work states The beings taught women all sorts of things increasing their occult understanding. We know from scripture these messengers look like very attractive people when they want to. So why wouldn’t a woman be attracted to a “god” who can make life so much easier for her and her family? It’s a logical deduction. Far More logical than the alternative.

How did a Calvinist (Joel) become my new favorite online preacher? I know the answer. First it was Chuck Missler's videos I obsessed over, then Dr. Missler went home to be with the Lord. I subsequently missed him terribly and had seen all of his videos multiple times, when suddenly I found Dr. Heiser and had a new online preacher I obsessed over. Then God led me to Joel who has all of the attributes I loved about Missler and Heiser, namely the courage to speak about the supernatural in the same context Missler and Heiser did. Serious, but also with a sense of humor. IOW's all the stuff that fascinates me about the supernatural realm, but that most preachers are afraid to discuss lest that stand the risk of being called a crackpot by a WORLD that considers us crackpots regardless. It's similar to conservatives who fear wearing the "Christian Nationalist" label. I admire Joel's courage to preach the Bible without pulling any punches for the reward of being liked by the world, or at least despised less than preachers in the mold of Elijah and John the Baptist et al. It's official, Joel is my new favorite internet preacher. 👍

Harpies are winged “spirits of the air.” Attributable to the night hag, succubus etc.
Sirens can be avian in appearance but are technically “water spirits.” Attributable to the Selke and mermaid lore as well as goddesses that keep people suspended in time (similar to the fae). Manifestations and lore tends to evolve over time.

Yes. Coupled with the fact that Hebrews 11:13 (living like strangers and aliens, etc) does not mean nor imply that we as Christians are to intentionally share attention seeking discussions which cause us to be mocked even more than the world already does. “Strangers and aliens” means that we are to not live as the world lives, to not crave what the world craves, to be different in a biblical way.

I have a mild constructive criticism. There really is no such thing as a 'soulless' creature. angels, humans, & animals have souls. Nephesh hayyah is not merely life-force. (Theological Dictionary of the Old Testament). But let's assume that's true. Ecclesiastes 3:21 says both humans & animals have spirits. strongly recommend to not talk about creatures which 'have no souls.' Whether good or even is not the point. It's just not factually accurate.
