A wonderful ambassador for our God. God is working through him. Christianity is the only logical answer to why we are here.
What's more, we don't just believe it, we feel it right at the core of our souls. It's a beautiful thing to possess, so beautiful it brings tears to my eyes with its wonder.
I feel compassion for those who don't have this gift, and like Dr Lennox, long for others to find it God bless us all. ❤️

+DreamRasta Unless you insist (as _most_ Christians certainly do _not_) that Genesis must be literally true, it is perfectly possible to believe both in evolution and in Christianity. In fact, the Book of Genesis contains two contradictory stories of creation, which cannot both be literally true. Christian doctrine since before Augustine of Hippo has been that the Bible contains much truth, but that we need not require it to be true in the literal details of poetic accounts such as Genesis. The Bible indeed states that it was God who created the universe, but I personally turn to science to tell me the details of exactly how it was done. I am more in awe at the idea of God's conceiving of evolution and using it to create the human race than I am at the notion that he was forced to create each species individually.

I think Mr. Lennox is a great Christian apologist of our time. I do recall in my college days while taking a course on the History of Christianity by an esteemed Christian professor of history at the University of Washington. He suggested that contrary to Mr. Lennox's conclusion that Christ would have detested religious wars of any kind, that in certain circumstances they may be inevitable if not necessary. The UW professor said nothing more about it but he seemed to be referring to the Byzantine wars with the Muslims as they moved north into Europe spreading their religion and killing Christians who refused to be converted. Many historians have concluded that had the Byzantine Empire not fought against the Arab encroachments of the ninth and tenth centuries, that Europe would have become a Muslim continent, rather than a Christian one and that it was only the Byzantine army that stopped it. The same may be said of the Moors and their conquest of southern Spain. Granted, Christian passivism did overcome Rome but it hasn't to this day had much influence in the Arab countries and beyond. I noticed that Mr. Lennox cleverly avoids those issues when he says, " They will have to speak for themselves," and for good reason. It opens up a can of worms, the same can that the crusaders couldn't avoid. But I love John Lennox and admire his strength and courage to confront the smartest enemies of Christianity head on. Just like an Irishman would.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:
00:00 🎓 John Lennox discusses the question of whether God is fact or fiction.
01:41 🤔 Freud's argument that God is a wish fulfillment works both ways; neither atheism nor theism can be proven solely through psychology.
03:01 🧪 Science and belief in God are not inherently contradictory; many key scientists like Galileo and Newton were believers in God.
05:42 📚 Education, exploration, and intellectual freedom are important for forming well-rounded worldviews.
08:35 🌌 The origin of modern science is linked to a monotheistic worldview that saw order and law as indicators of a creator.
10:06 🤝 Science and religion are not in opposition but rather complement each other; they provide answers to different types of questions.
14:53 🛠️ Science and God are not mutually exclusive explanations; both can contribute to understanding the universe.
19:22 🕊️ Faith is not blind belief; it's based on evidence and trust, and it's an essential component of science as well as religion.
22:54 🔬 The argument that science and religion are conflicting options is misleading; many scientists hold religious beliefs alongside their scientific pursuits.
25:19 🧠 The naturalistic interpretation of the mind poses challenges to rationality and meaning, leading to questions about the reliability of science itself.
27:22 🌍 The rational intelligibility of the universe aligns with Christianity's teachings, suggesting a common origin for both.
28:39 📖 Revelation and reason are not opposed; both require the use of the mind to understand and interpret.
32:16 🔄 Miracles do not violate the laws of nature; they involve the intervention of a higher intelligence in a system.
38:57 🔄 The question "Who created the Creator?" assumes that God is created, but this contradicts the concept of an eternal God.
44:15 🧩 Complexity doesn't invalidate God as an explanation; even complex ideas like Richard Dawkins' book originate from more complex minds.
49:48 💬 Semiotics and language defy reductionism; the existence of meaningful information implies an intelligent source.
51:37 🌌 Two contrasting worldviews: one starting with mass-energy leading to consciousness, the other starting with the Word (God) as primary reality.
53:06 ❓ Addressing questions about suffering in the world, using religion to harm others, and the equality of all religions.
54:29 🧠 The idea of a "God part of the brain" dedicated to religion is questionable due to the complex interconnections in the brain.
55:26 📖 The basis of deriving morality from religious texts like the Bible raises questions about subjective interpretation and external sources.
56:03 🌍 The question of a young or old Earth's age is not directly related to the discussion on God's existence, but historical evidence and interpretation play a role.
56:59 📜 Some Christian doctrines have similarities with myths from other religions, but resurrection in Christianity has unique historical evidence.
57:27 🧬 The compatibility of evolution with faith raises complex discussions on the origin of life, complexity, and the role of God in creation.
57:43 📚 Mathematics, though partly observed from the universe, also involves creative aspects and logical coherence.
58:12 🌌 Critical realism in science suggests an approximation of truth, and the capacity for science, arts, and literature is evidence of human creativity and divine design.
59:21 🤝 The interaction between brain changes, behavior, and faith underscores the complex relationship between neurophysiology and spiritual experiences.
01:00:17 💡 Evolution's different levels of complexity and the insertion of information challenge a purely unguided process.
01:04:48 🌐 Understanding the metaphorical and literal aspects of biblical language and avoiding imposing restraints is crucial when interpreting scripture.
01:06:07 🌍 The question of a young or old Earth's age should consider the evidence and interpretation, while focusing on the message of the Bible.
01:12:26 🐦 The accusation of violence tied to religion raises the issue of historical religious conflicts, but Jesus' teachings emphasize nonviolence and truth.
01:19:51 🌍 Atheism has been responsible for significant bloodshed throughout history, and the New Atheists are relatively silent about this aspect compared to their focus on religious violence.
01:21:13 🤔 The question of why there's suffering in the world is a complex one. The speaker cites his experience during 9/11, where expressions of faith and hope were present even in the face of tragedy.
01:22:16 💔 The speaker recounts personal experiences of suffering and loss, highlighting the complexity of finding gratitude in the midst of pain.
01:24:26 ❤️ The existence of both love and the ability to choose is tied to the potential for suffering. Human relationships and the capacity to say "yes" or "no" are intertwined.
01:28:15 ✝️ The speaker discusses the uniqueness of Christianity, where salvation is not based on personal merit but on Christ's sacrifice on the cross. This concept offers a profound solution to the problem of human suffering.
01:29:51 🌟 The speaker argues that the suffering of Christ on the cross demonstrates God's willingness to become part of human suffering, offering hope and a way to transcend it.
01:30:34 🌅 While atheism may view suffering as an inherent part of existence with no hope, the speaker believes that his faith in a loving God enables him to find meaning and purpose in the face of suffering.

Listen: Does God exist? Science tells us that a probability of less than 1 chance in 10^150th is basically an impossibility. However, when calculating the probability of all the variables involved in creating a universe coming together where life could exist is 1 chance in 10^450th. Basically, it is impossible by a factor of 10^300th. So, we must conclude that there is a VERY intelligent being, who is responsible for our being here. There are, of course, many other proofs in science of biblical truth and authenticity. But don't take my word for it. Don't be afraid of God, check it for yourself!

Very well said, the fine tuning of the universe is a question that atheism cannot answer without conceding that this essentially impossible probability actually happened. And lets not get into the part of naturalism that defies both science and logic, everything cannot come from nothing. A universe cannot create itself, because this statement is a contradiction, in order to create itself it has to already be in existence and then we have an endless loop. Many atheists think that science disproves God. However it in fact highlights the necessity for there to be a God.

Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending any acknowledgement as to the existence of gods until sufficient credible evidence can be presented. My position is that *_I have no good reason to acknowledge the existence of gods._*
And here is the evidence I must consider when evaluating the claim by theists and as to why I currently hold to such a position.
    1. I personally have never observed a god.
    2. I have never encountered a person whom has claimed to have observed a god.
    3. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing or able to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity.
    4. I have never been presented a valid logical argument which also employed sound premises that lead deductively to a conclusion that a god(s) exists.
    5. Of the 46 logical syllogisms I have encountered arguing for the existence of a god(s), I have found all to contain multiple fallacious or unsubstantiated premises.
    6. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon.
    7. Several proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._
    8. I have never experienced the presence of a god through intercession of angels, divine revelation, the miraculous act of divinity, or any occurrence of a supernatural event.
    9. Every phenomenon that I have ever observed has *_emerged_* from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance, system, or being) that was created _ex nihilo_ - that is instantaneously came into existence by the solitary volition of a deity.
    10. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have encountered have either been refuted to my satisfaction, or do not present as falsifiable.
ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the existence of a god.
I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Atheism is simply withholding any acknowledgement until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. *_It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstatiated claims, especially extraordinary ones._*
I welcome any cordial response. Peace.

I am sorry you have never experienced God’s love. Maybe you are looking in the wrong places or perhaps you don’t want God to exist. Man says show me God exists but God says believe and I will show you I exist. God only reveals himself to those who want to know him. Until then it won’t matter what you read, hear or what evidence presented you won’t see or hear the evidence. If you truly want to know the truth about the existence of God then ask Him to reveal Himself. Ask Him to come into your life and ask Him to forgive you for your lack of belief. I can assure you if you are sincere you WILL experience God presence. Until a person is ready God will be silent. Listen to more of Dr Lenox and Frank Turek (I don’t have enough faith to be an atheist) The scripture says man has ears but he will not hear and eyes but he will not see. Either the Universe came from nothing out of nothing or something out of nothing think about it.

But if atheists are wrong, they have EVERYTHING to lose. If there is a God and a heaven n hell, then you choose an eternal damnation. What an ultimate gamble!!

+Gino Foogle ... I'm sorry but that's a very narrow minded statement. First, A Holy rightous God can not accept sin or un-Godliness. Jesus, a blameless and righteous God-man who did many miracles and wonders gave his life and took the wrath of the father so that sin could be forgiven, and resurrected to defeat death so that we may be forgiven and have a personal relationship with him, and have eternal life. John 3:16 God so loved the world that whomsoever believes in him shall not perrish, but have eternal life. He gave us free will so that we could choose to believe or not. What kind of love would it be if he programmed us to love him? We chose to love and believe because that is true love n not forced. To disregard him and his love, his power, majisty and holyness is to rebel, reject and sin against him. To disregard his son and reject the love and life He gave us would be a total disrespect and rejection of who he was and what he did. As well, even if you set aside the belief for a second, we still have the moral/immoral and sinful nature of man. So regardless of belief, our sin and immorality gives us cause for condemnation and hell, and he would still be holy and just. So to believe is to have faith that he is who he says he is and did what he said he did which without, is a totally justifiable act of condemnation.
Would you want someone with you that you know hates you and totally rejects you and and pushes you away while going against everything you say and stand for? Of course not. Christ said, that because I live, you may live also. His love and compassion is immeasurable. Therefore, to me it's not silly or crazy at all. Everyone must make up thier own minds and choices. This and countless other reasons are why i have faith and "choose" to believe.
      God bless you. 😀

Some people are going to believe whatever they choose to believe despite the evidence or proof to the contrary. We all have the same science, the same knowledge and information available to us, but its our presuppositions which interpret that evidence/information. Dr. Lennox presented the best lesson one can give for the existence of God. If it's not enough at that foundational level, then it will never be enough.

I would challenge Dawkins to experiment with the teachings of Jesus by implementing the teachings in his life. He will discover the values and benefits of the Christian way of life, and likely fall in love with Jesus! I suspect he wouldn't dare take the challenge.

Richard was RAISED a Christian and WAS a Christian till 15 years old when he became upset with the fact that God is concerned with sin, so Richard became obsessed with invalidating God… why? Because Richard is not atheist but he is afraid of God. All this is from his interviews

Love John Lennox but I didn't like his disingenuous response to the 'literal reading' question. Clearly nobody (and he knows that) would read symbolism and poetry as literal. The question clearly refers to taking prose writings as literal vs ascribing allegorical or symbolical meaning to it. It is where the christians differ in interpretation and a man of his intellect and knowledge knows that. Not only did he avoid the answer but he ridiculed fellow Christians with a false interpretation of what they belief.

Isn't it interesting that for the atheist, God can be a construct of the mind, but the mind cannot be a construct of God.

    • @felixleonardogamonelcruzad7704

Without evidence of god's existence or non-existence, we can say a god being a construct of the mind is equally probable to the mind being a construct of A god. But if the second is the One, there are an infinite number of gods who create the mind as infinite is the human imagination.

@@felixleonardogamonelcruzad7704 the biggest proof per say is pure logical implications as the problem of the true nothingness, it goes as followed; reality exsits but if there is no God there is Nothing austide of reality( nothingness i.a the lack of exsitence) thus that actually exsits as a real thing and not a concept thust its real, thus reality is in fact not real thus we don't exsits, but we exsists thus reality is real and besides reality God exsits hance God is real thus we are real, so this is a paradox to only naturalism, and one may ask well whats besides God, thats just the wrong definition since God is absoulute/ truly all (not in a pantheistic way) theres an expenation on how this works, regardless, then God is absoulte thus here we are thanks to him so its the pure logic that stated this BIG issue for materialsm

How did that go? Faith is belief in something you have no evidence for?
That may be somewhat true, but if you get some serious evidence does that make it no longer faith?
I don't know about you but some good evidence makes my faith stronger.

It is the stories of Christianity that dragged along the ancient Greeks Philosophies that allowed Christianity and Science. It was not Christianity that aided Science, but ancient Greek Philosophy alone that brought us Science. Christianity was what had to be overcome that allowed for Science from the ancient Greeks.

He is a warrior God and will meet this threat to his family Israel. Everything else happened in Ezekiel and so will this. Love your presentation.

Bill, if rather than forcing a person a "lake of fire" God merely allows them to choose their own destiny, is it unjust? It seems to me He would be unjust if He did not allow us choice, but imposed His will upon us. Justice only makes sense if it is fair and unbiased meted by one who has a right to do so. Since we are all sinners, only a perfect and holy God can exercise justice. The issue is that God came as one of us (Jesus) to draw us to God (in the person of the Holy Spirit). That is just!

To answer the question, as Wiki puts it, the LHC was built with "the aim of allowing physicists to test the predictions of different theories of particle physics and high-energy physics, and particularly prove or disprove the existence of the hypothesized Higgs boson and of the large family of new particles predicted by supersymmetric theories. The LHC is expected to address some of the most fundamental questions of physics, advancing human understanding of the deepest laws of nature."

I too love the wisdom of Dr, Lennox, but I do not love his frequent evasion of answering personal questions. When you have put yoursself out there as an expert in any field, some quetions are going to be personal! It is fair for one to say, "I don't answer personal questions." I think it is NOT fair to refuse to answer certain questions by employing circuitous mumbo-jumbo. For example: If I am asked 'do I believe in a young or old earth?' I answer, 'A young earth.' Then I state my reasons. I do not give a song and dance meant to evade the question. Dr. Lennox doess this a bit too often -- and it injures, somewhat, his overall credibility.
