Im actually a asian .. I love eating and trying african foods.. My tanzanian friend and myself ( helped him ) cooked Jollof rice. I loved it. He even told about this waakye rice, waakye stew ..and we gonna make it.. 🙃 thank you for your video
Please just a tip, when cooking Wele, don't add salt in the beginning because when you do, it takes time to be soft. When it's almost done, you can add the salt. The same thing applies to beans. Well done, yummy stew
Please where do you put in dawadawa? Beginning or at the end? I would love to try it but with some dawadawa.Thank you very much for sharing your beautiful recipe
You are a genius in this field. Thanks a million sweetheart for sharing. May I humbly suggest you go into the Dash Door business for those who wld prefer ordering ready made meals to cooking from the scratch, as it can be too much for some SENIOR CITIZENS 😆 Thanks so much for the demo 👌🏾
It's not Ghanaian food. It's all hausa food that Ghanaian adopted. WAKE IS HAUSA AND MEANS BEANS AND THIS STEW IS ALSO HAUSA. THEY ALSO EAT KOKO AND KOSAI WHICH IS ALL HAUSA FOOD.
@lami cooks, I have tried step by step this waakye stew recipe and by far the best I have ever prepared! However I got hold of yr channel, I bless that day 🙏 🙌. Your recipes are amazing just like yrself .....much love ❤ 💗 💕 💛 💙
Once again you have scored, you cook with such great passion and even though its not easy you make it seem effortless, yummy, please give us your version of kyinkafa, thank you.
Where in Tema did you grow up? Which school did go to? Also, why will people downvote this video? Lami you are doing an awesome job. Keep your head up.
Hi Lami, tbh you are one of the best RUclips Gh cooks! Waakye is one of my fields too but watching your style gave a little boost. Might I ask, what's the difference between using fresh tomatoes and plum tomatoes? Did you intentionally use fresh?
Chef Britta to make the stew darker you can also fry onions separately make sure to look burnt like blend with your fresh onion, tomato, ginger and other species.
Hi Lami, what’s the proportion of the cloves, anise, star anise and black peppercorns? Star anise is quite strong so if one doesn’t add the right quantity it may overpower the other spices. What are the spice ratios cos I want to make some and be using for my stews
Hello Yram, you are right, both star anise and cloves can be very strong. 2 tablespoons of both aniseed and black peppercorns the 1 tablespoons of cloves and about 3-4 star anise
Lami cooks thank you very much for your reply. Not many RUclipsrs attend to our questions. I really appreciate you taking time to explain the measurements to me
Lami , I have a few questions for you. In your eid video, you added kawu to your stew to remove the sourness from it. 1. You had it stored in water... what is the ratio of water to kawu in the jar 2.what is the shelf life of that 3.how long must the kawu dissolve in the water solution before you start using it 4. What is the best way to store it? Do you leave it on the kitchen top or refrigerate it . 5. When is the best time to add kawu to the tomatoes to remove the sourness Sorry I am asking you so many questions ... it helps me understand how to use it properly
Ok Aseye 1. To be honest it depends, I eye ball it. But you can add about 1 cup of kawu to 3 cups of water and store to be used when needed. 2. Since it's a form of a rock, store as long as 6 months or more. 3. You can use it minimum about 3hours. 4. I store it on the counter top and use when needed, no need to store in fridge. 5. Once the stew has fried and you still taste the sourness, sometimes after cooking the stew down, you dont need to add the kawu. I hope I have answered all your questions 😊
This is the best waakye stew I have watched on RUclips

Please just a tip, when cooking Wele, don't add salt in the beginning because when you do, it takes time to be soft. When it's almost done, you can add the salt. The same thing applies to beans. Well done, yummy stew
Thank you Teniola, well noted 😊
Easiest and fastest way to make it soft faster is onions! Add more onions during the meat cooking session.
Who else liked before watching? Give me tumps up👍🏾

Love you sis going to try making it. Good job. My question to you is how do it get dark like the one in Ghana pls?
By frying or cooking it longer. The longer it stays on fire, the darker it becomes.
Chef Britta to make the stew darker you can also fry onions separately make sure to look burnt like blend with your fresh onion, tomato, ginger and other species.
@@keearata thank you 🙏
My experience with spices tells me it’s the cloves that gives the dark color like back home.
