I am an Indian. I made this dish for my family. Everyone was so happy because it tasted so delicious. Thank you for the recipe. Can you use chicken as well?
I prepared this for my son at first he was like mum is this fish nice trust me two days later he asked me to cook it again Much love from Zambia 🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲
I’m from England but I think Africa is such a fascinating continent with so many cool and unique countries and cultures. I love the different African cultures and I would like to try different African dishes 😋
A thousand times thank you for sharing this authentic recipe from your country with us! I’ve been curious to try okra stew for a while, and today I finally had all the ingredients to make it (with some adaptations, like with sheep meat instead of goat). And thanks to your easy to follow instructions it turned out very delicious! I had it with some fufu, which was very good, but I guess it would also be great with plain basmati rice… anyhow, thank you again for sharing this traditional recipe with us, thanks to you can a person like me from all the way in the Netherlands enjoy it too. You’re a delight, bless you!
That is the slimiest okro soup I have ever seen and I love it! I'm from the US but I absolutely love African foods. I've been trying so hard to get my okro to be slimy, I didn't know I needed to add the baking soda. Thank you so much for the tip!
Also, I have tried the baking soda but personally I don't like to add it because if you don't know what you're doing it can change the consistency/taste of the stew. If I were you I would leave it out.
Forget baking soda. Personally, I'm very much a traditionalist when it comes to west African food. Too many western add one tends to take away the original taste that our ancestors enjoyed. Try to follow the traditional recipes as much as you can. To get it slimy simply cut the okra into tiny slices, dicing it occasionally. Okra soup (especially with ogbono) is my favourite food, bar none! I was weaned on it!
I have worked and lived in Cameroon and Central African Republic over the years, and I fell in love with African food there. Many dishes included Okra, Grass Cutter and also Goat meat. Good fish too. Oh I miss that food so much. Thank you for recording these wonderful recipes.
I had never tried okra stew or fufu. Went to a restaurant and tried it and fell in love. The restaurant is an hour away and I kept sending my husband to get me this meal. I decided to make this and let me just say it tastes identical to the restaurants version. Thank you so very much for sharing this treasure. I have found my roots!!!❤️❤️
I am European and my husband is north African, but I love to cook West African food every once in a while! I fell in love with it long time ago and some west African recipes have been a staple in my household for many years now. This looks delicious, I'm cooking it as I write this. My children love anything with Fufu. Can't wait to dig in ❤
Hello I just wanted to say im american just moved to kumasi ghana to be with my husband our anniversary was yesterday so his favorite dish is okra stew so I followed your recipe I brought banku from the market he sat down to eat he was shocked that I made he ate 2large bowls he said wow it was wonderful so thank u for your recipe
I am Nigerian and I have never seen anyone add tomatoes to okra soup, but regardless, it looks delish. I am actually making it now, also making pepper soup, red stew, and egusi. Lol! I don't cook Nigerian food much, but when I do, I make a lot.
This is looks delicious never tested it, but like to do so some time, that is why I was looking the reciept, just wondering if you need to use all that okra, or it should be so?
I love this dish my mom Nigerian friend made some for me to try she made me a big bowl I wanted to call and tell her I’m moving in 😩😂😂😂, I’m American but I loveeeeee to try different foods
I’ll be making this today. I’ve been craving some west African food so I’m excited to get off work and make this for lunch and dinner 🥘 I’ll also be making some Pounded Yam with it.. I’m sure it will come out delicious 😋 I’ll be adding my own seasonings if I don’t have the seasonings you added...
For someone cooking okra for the first time, this video was the most helpful as others don't specify exactly how long to cook the okra. Looks like African cooks just with feeling! This looks so yummy as well 😋 so I am cooking it for dinner! Bf will be happy after the long day waiting to be able to eat! 😊
I have never ate this food. I heard about it. It looks very good, I bet it will taste amazing from those many condiments....I am not sure if I would get used to the texture..But the way you cooked made me wanting bad to taste it
Sure this is the best video ever am going to try it thanks for the help because someone like me I don't know nothing about cooking thanks you once again 🥰👋🏿
Wow! Sis thanks very much for the tip (boiling the okra separately before adding it into the stew and also using less tomatoes) having tried this method, I’m very happy to report my okra stew turned out amazingly *even if I say so myself🤣🤣. So pleased talented cooks like you are around to pass on your knowledge and experience. Stay blessed and keep up with the good work. Love Pam (UK) 💋

Actually the baking soda helps it cook faster. I’m not too sure about making it slimier.
