Because someone would of had to call the police… and most Amish, especially old order will not call the police. Mennonites are pretty similar.

It’s the Amish, and Mennonites. Births are not reported and deaths aren’t always reported. Children don’t always get birth certificates and almost never get social security numbers. Some families will also name a living children the same name as a sibling that died. Easy to cover things up.

Mennonites are not similar. I grew up Mennonite. A boy died not to long ago in my mom's community (he had muscular dystrophy and it was expected he would die) and the first thing they did was call the cops. Mennonites go from being similar to Amish to being no different than English folk.

I attend a Conservative Mennonite church, but not old order Mennonite or black bumper Mennonite. Rest assured that Dorothy comes from a long line of abuse. This abuse probably started long before her childhood. This was a failure of men to step up and protect those in their care. From the bishop, to the pastor, to the grand father, father, husband, and brother. This is what happens when men fail to follow Christ. It is sick. It is a sign that these are not churches but cultural gatherings. My heart is broken for Dorothy and her entire family. Guaranteed it was not only the females that were abused in the history of her family or these churches.

    • @lizh1988
      @lizh1988 Год назад

Guaranteed. The males get demoralized first, they can't help but take it out on the females, who enable more crap from the men.
All of this is stuff that's gone on before, and SOME people used the Bible to get over it, and be filled with the life of Christ. So they have no excuse.
Hallelujah there is help to be had. Hallelujah.

I really hope that this channel is helping to change things! You're so correct that there needs to be education within the communities etc. They're also needs to be punishment for the people committing these terrible acts of abuse. How will they even know it's wrong if no one is punished? Or how will they know how wrong it is I should say. I live very close to many Amish families. I worry about their children. I see them working hard at fruit stands, in the field, Etc., and I hope they're being taken care of. I definitely know some very nice and kind Amish families that are good to their children, but there are some that I'm not too sure about. And there's no way to even know anything is going on, because they are completely secretive. Any child should be protected, it doesn't matter what race they are, what religion, what gender etc. I hope that you shedding light on this situation really helps protect these children. It's like it's happening in our backyard and we can't hardly do anything about it. And it makes me so aggravated that sometimes when the police are called they still don't want to do anything. Just because you're Amish doesn't mean that you can abuse someone! Keep up the good work I am happy I found your channel!

“Heavenly divorce” hit home. Wow that is quite a phrase there. I was married to a pastor of an Assemblies of God church and I got away from his abuse by the grace of God. Divorced. That word causes Christian’s to look down on me and pastors to want to “counsel” me but it’s a precious word to me. He never laid hands on me in abuse but abused me mentally and physically by making so much work for me by destroying everything we owned and throwing garbage everywhere and then inviting parishioners over to humiliate me. I ended up catching him selling drugs! Heroin! It’s amazing how this goes on and on in all Christian religions. God bless you Dorothy and give you rest.

What a heartbreaking testimony. Eli, the Lord is using you to help people.
I'm not Amish or Mennonite. I had been a southern baptist for 10 years or so. Led worship, Sunday school teacher, deacon, involved with youth, etc. We had a falling out with leadership during covid shutdowns, and we stopped going.
Not hardly anyone checked on us. After all those years.
We've been out of church and fellowship for 2 years now. We have discovered John MacArthur teaching and seem to have realized our doctrine has changed a bit after really listening. We don't feel like we can find a decent church around here. Frankly, I'm not ready to move on. I miss a lot of the people but disagree with some doctrinal things of leadership.
I'm thankful to have found your channel through your funny shorts that led me to these serious talks. Your passion blessed my heart and teared me up to remind me how my heart has grown cold to the word these past two years.

As a parent or grandparent it's our job to live up to a promise that your father is the one who fights and eliminates their monsters. Not be the monster. I agree that this is completely outrageous and inexcusable, but I also know people raised in foster care who can make your hair stand on end in a whole variety of stories of what happened to them. On the other hand, there are many Amish and Mennonite families who are far more protective of children than any state is. There are evil actors everywhere, including quite prolifically in law enforcement. The Associated Press investigation of this type of misconduct by law enforcement officers in 2014-15 has not been lost on everyone, nor forgotten, and two of the largest states refused to even cooperate in releasing that data. I know what you mean. The thing is many do not realize, 'To Forgive' essentially means not to avenge and instead make way for God's Judgment. Most importantly, the Word of God is also very clear in teaching that one must steer clear from the wicked or the evil-doers (eg. Matt 18:17, 1 Cor 5:5, 11 & 13b). We may call it the 'Holy Law of Separation' - like for instance Abraham choosing to go the opposite way from Lot when first signs of trouble began among their servants. Likewise, Godless Hagar & Ishmael sent their separate way for both of them posed a constant threat to Sarah and her son of the covenant. Our prayers should be in line with God's Word so we may understand there are those who cannot be prayed for (eg. Jer 7:16, 11:14, 14:11..) but ought to be prayed against (eg. Rev 6:10, Rev 8:3-5). This is possible only if we learn to discern between our enemies and enemies of God. The Lord has taught us to recognize them by their deeds, and that is just what we ought to do. 1 Tim 5:24, "The sins of some men are obvious, reaching the Place of Judgment ahead of them; the sins of others trail behind them." Whether it is them catching up with their sins or their sins catching up with them, either way their CONDEMNATION is certain - Jude 4.
Churches have so diluted the commandment of forgiveness that it is become all about abetting and protecting the perpetrators while the victims continue to be tormented at their hands in more ways than one. Let us not forget 1 Cor 3:17, "IF ANYONE DESTROYS GOD'S TEMPLE, GOD WILL DESTROY HIM; FOR GOD'S TEMPLE IS SACRED, AND YOU ARE THAT TEMPLE." Trust this little message will go a long way in washing away any trace of bitterness that might remain. May God protect you and bless you for obeying Him.

Dorothy, I’m so sincerely sorry that you and your loved ones went through such abuse and neglect. I just wanted you to know that I think you’re incredibly brave and courageous to come forward and tell your story. I know it’s far from easy, but it truly does make a difference and matters. Who knows how many people (especially young girls and young women) this will help. I know that it deeply touched my heart. I’m praying for your continued healing. 💜🙏

We went to a Holiness church for several years. We were warned it was a cult, but couldn't believe it. After leaving, they would say they are so glad we're holding on to Jesus. What else would I do, leave my salvation behind because I left the church?! After years, my husband has remained friendly with the man that has now become the pastor there, and he would attack my husband from the pulpit on doctrinal conversations they had, because my husband is wrong, of course, since he can't possibly learn from the Bible, as it tells us we can...
I still seem to get shunned in public, even to where a man cornered me in the store to ask why I'm wearing men's garments. I was quick to point out that my salvation doesn't come from my wearing skirts, but from Jesus. That we go from grace to grace, and I've grown up spiritually. Then later my husband pulled over one day to offer him a ride, and let him know to leave his wife and daughter alone, lol, he's so good at protecting us.
There are cults everywhere, indeed, and it doesn't take much to make one, just man's pride, desire for dominion, and rules, rules, rules!

Always seemed so happy in these communities, but we all sin. Very interesting content and I hope more can understand these guarded communities so hopefully more folks can help those who may need it or light shed upon it. This story is crazy relatable...I was a Mennonite as a child probably the only black family that wasn't adopted my single mother of 9 children just joined for whatever reason..we live in New Jersey and went to Vineland Mennonite church the only eastern Mennonite church in the state at the time..there may be another one now. My older sister was in her teens and went from public school to Mennonite school that alone is a hard adjustment but my mom couldn't handle her or get her to fold into the ways of the church so they advise her to send my brother and sister each to different churches in Pennsylvania. My brother went to the ephrata church and my sister went to the same Danville church as Dorothy. They sent her to a young family with the man name of Ed Kurr..he would rape her all the time and went she went to other church leaders she would get spanked as a 13-16 Year old by men she didn't really even know..she ended up leaving at around 16 and went even deeper in and joined the amish in lancaster County pa..a town called narvon to be exact..but to wrap it up my whole family left the church and it wasn't easy for any of us but I'm sure it was easier than for all of yous who are born into it...none of our family was raised annabaptist being that my dad's side is black and my moms Italian and Hungarian

Thank you for exposing the abuse that is suffered within many religious communities. I have many family members who are Jehovah's witnesses and the same type of abuse occurs often. The elders of the church work hard to cover their sins and "deal" with the abuse themselves instead of involving law enforcement. The Catholic Church is notorious for doing this as well. My father is Catholic and sexually abused my older sister and physically abused my mother and all of his children. He always used the church to hide his sins and seek redemption even though he was never truly sorry or would even admit to what he had done. Evil and sin can exist within any religion and corruption and lies exist within too many church's. Remember to keep your eyes always open to deceit and your hearts open to the truth. I am blessed to live in a religiously diverse area in upstate NY and have many Mennonite and Amish neighbors who are amazing and kind people. Always willing to help their English neighbors and you can see the joy in their children's faces. Only occasionally do I encounter an Amish neighbor who gives me chills. The same goes for the local Catholics, Hindus, Jehovah witnesses etc. There is good and bad in all religion and our job is to not be blind to the bad and to embrace the good. Love don't judge.

    • @mercyjohnson6436

Godliness and Religion are two different things entirely. The reason Religion is defined as Manifestation of Rebellious Legions of Evil-spirits in Mankind, Seeking Nothing But the Unmerited-glory of the Unworthy-man. Perhaps now you will understand why you find all religions alike. Besides, if you have any love for Truth & Godliness, learn to differentiate between Judge as in discern which is the blessed heritage of all children of God (Isa 54:17, 1 Cor 2:15) and Judge as in passing Judgment or Avenging which is the prerogative of God alone (Ps 75:2 & 6-7, 1 Cor 4:5).

I listen to no one completely----I question lawyers, doctors, priests, ministers, financial advisors, family, husband and just about any authority figure. Some say that that is what is the problem with the world that people do not follow the authorities, I believe you can live a moral life without consulting any authorities. I even question the bible---it was written by men only---authority figures. I believe Jesus was holy and humble. He emulated good behavior. That is just about it. Too many rules that lead to corruption.

A terrible story that has triggered memories of abuse for me and many others I am sure. My abuse was not nearly as bad but the feelings are the same. Dorothy is four years younger than me and at that time it was considered normal to hit and abuse children. I am so sorry that Dorothy suffered so much. She is a brave lady and she should know that God will judge her parents and anyone else who abused her, including those that allowed the abuse to continue by not reporting it and by covering up what happened. I am Catholic but don't follow all our church rules because I don't trust Catholic priests. You have helped me sort this out in my mind. Five years ago I found out that I am disabled due to Meningitis contracted at age 6 months. My parents knew that I was brain damaged but did not take this into account when they abused me for being "naughty". Thank you to you and Dorothy for sharing her story.

I have a Mennonite friend. He's a typical guy in most ways. He's served in the military and had a career in law enforcement. All of his brothers and his father have done both as well. He told me various things about the Mennonites where he came from (Illinois and Tennesee). He told me that his father had three wives, which he said was normal because they just don't file marriage certificates. He said there were 16 children total, 7 from his mother. He said his dad was pretty stern but abuse was unheard of, at least in his family. He said when his sister, who is a medical doctor, married a black man, the family shunned her. He was the only one who didn't. When her husband passed away, he thought the family would come around and stop shunning her. They didn't.

If there is anyone who might have a hope of breaking this culture of abuse, it would have to be Eli & Dorothy & people like them who care enough and can be brave enough to gather warriors of faith to defend those who continue to be abused. Help them to leave the culture by giving them a safe house...
Where did morals go? Were there ever any?
After viewing this, I have looked at other videos about abuses. A repeating theme is that there often is nothing that legally be done due to the statute of limitation being expired. A SOL should not be effective as 1. Their victims often have no knowledge of what can be done until they are old enough to become aware of such. 2. There is no SOL for felony murder, why on something like this? The Nazi's were pursued years to where they are near dying from old age, why not this?
Honestly this has been a shocking & sickening eye opener. I always admired the Amish and Mennonites as they appeared so incredibly good and Godly.
No more. I am now in reality.
Lastly, the US government and law is allowing this to happen if not actually enabling. Government is at fault and should be penalised for allowing the constitution of the US to be warped to enable freedom of religion to be an excuse for freedom to abuse!

    • @lizh1988
      @lizh1988 Год назад +1

SOL was extended for many Catholic abuses because the abused tended to have repressed memories, it took them a long time to remember.
The church would not pay damages except as payment for therapy. You could be homeless and starving but therapy was it. And when the abuse is severe enough, you can't get therapy.
And they hid the money, found all kinds of tricks to do so. Absolutely outrageous and unholy.
I did hear of one case where a guy got a stipend for his groceries and living quarters.
Women mostly get stiffed and ignored as much as possible, but a lot of guys hold back because society looks down on them for talking about it.
It's nothing but pain and they deserve all the hell they get.

When I was 12, I didnt ask to shave my legs. I just DID it. My "mother" was controlling and abusing, so this was an act of bravery.
