As far as him, though, I have zero regrets about whether or not it hurt him. He brought that on himself. It took me a long time and a lot of prayer to get through the anger I felt at him for hurting my daughter. Anybody who says I should've stayed with him after all that is crazy. I love my husband with all my heart. But if he could do a thing like this, he would not be the man I love, and it's one of very few reasons I can see myself actually leaving him (but not, as I can't see it happening in the first place; he has no tolerance for that kind of thing either). I'm also Catholic, so we both know the church has some strong views on the permanence of marriage, but you're absolutely allowed to leave to protect yourself or your children from abuse.

Man I am so glad I found your channel!!! I live in Amish country in rural PA and have encountered them my whole life and had many as friends over the years. I own 65 acres in a different location in PA as well that is surrounded by mostly all Amish and several are my neighbors since they own property that borders my plot. I have never witnessed anything bad from the Amish people I knew, nor have I heard ANY of these horror stories that you hear about now and then like this from the Amish.. How long was his sentence? It couldn’t have been more than 18 years since they had one minor child when he was released. Also, when the community was deciding which child to take and raise it bothered me then…they should have all been long grown before he got out. Horrible story and such a brave woman.
He got off very lightly, and most of it was probation all because of where he comes from and also because the Amish church showed up in court to defend him, and therefore the judge had mercy on him, believing that the Amish church would take care of the rest of the punishment, but they didn’t

This is close to what happened to me in the German Baptist Brethren Church and it's so disgusting!!! He's a rapist yet I'm the evil one for not wanting to be with him!? Now I'm supposedly going to hell because I found a lovely man to be with who helps take care of my children as if they are his own. Even though it's been years he and his church still call me his wife and that I'm having an affair lol. I had learned sometime back of the Amish losing a lot of their younger generations because they see the inconsistency in the Amish beliefs and communities. I love my husband with all my heart. But if he could do a thing like this, he would not be the man I love, and it's one of very few reasons I can see myself actually leaving him (but not, as I can't see it happening in the first place; he has no tolerance for that kind of thing either). I'm also Catholic, so we both know the church has some strong views on the permanence of marriage, but you're absolutely allowed to leave to protect yourself or your children from abuse.

She had to know, growing up Amish, that this would be how they thought, and how she would be treated. In my opinion, this makes her that much braver for standing up for her children and insisting he face consequences.
Man I am so glad I found your channel!!! I live in Amish country in rural PA and have encountered them my whole life and had many as friends over the years. I own 65 acres in a different location in PA as well that is surrounded by mostly all Amish and several are my neighbors since they own property that borders my plot. I have never witnessed anything bad from the Amish people I knew, nor have I heard ANY of these horror stories that you hear about now and then like this from the Amish.. I was always aware that not all Amish people are good and things that they are capable of with toxic/sick elders/sex offenders, etc but have never personally heard about any of it around me. I believe I have seen the good side of them without a doubt but it seems like when they turn bad and do sick things they have to do it in the most horrible ways possible and are REALLY DISTURBING! Thank you Eli for this channel so I can hear the whole truth about what goes on in a corrupt prison like community, sounds like hell to me and you escaped it along with this poor woman thank the lord! Glad this story has a happier ending and that husband got locked up, throw that key 🔑 away!!! Thank you for sharing! Former amish here, I grew up WITHOUT that filthy crap and barely knew it existed. And I know plenty of amish who will turn molesters in to the law, in a heartbeat.

Eli, thank you for what you do. I left abuse. My parents are Catholic and while my abuse isn't nearly as severe as some stories here, there are similarities. It's amazing how they use the idea of God's salvation against those they wish to control. I married a great man and we have grown together. We care for each other. He is an ally. As much as I wish it didn't have to happen, it's great to see you get so angry on behalf of everyone in this bad positions. It is especially amazing to see you advocate for women when you could have been warped by what you were taught. Thank you for all you do!

How long was his sentence? It couldn’t have been more than 18 years since they had one minor child when he was released. Also, when the community was deciding which child to take and raise it bothered me then…they should have all been long grown before he got out. Horrible story and such a brave woman.
He got off very lightly, and most of it was probation all because of where he comes from and also because the Amish church showed up in court to defend him, and therefore the judge had mercy on him, believing that the Amish church would take care of the rest of the punishment, but they didn’t

I hate to say this but the child will be going through hell, regardless of the help she receives, but she needs to be allowed to work through the problem she will recover as much as possible. Thank God for letting him go to prison. I've been through the same hell as her from a younger age then your daughter.

This breaks my heart that they patronize the sex offender and blame everything on his wife. He should have been castrated while in jail. I’m surprised he made it out at all because even prisoners have little compassion for those who abuse children, especially sexually.

Gahhhhhh I remember as a kid there was a predator that got caught and sent to prison, I will never forget the preachers would preach from the pulpit that we have to support and embrace him instead of the family and the wife and kids would have to stay with him!!!!! I remember back then as a kid I could not understand that mentality at all!

This is close to what happened to me in the German Baptist Brethren Church and it's so disgusting!!! He's a rapist yet I'm the evil one for not wanting to be with him!? Now I'm supposedly going to hell because I found a lovely man to be with who helps take care of my children as if they are his own. Even though it's been years he and his church still call me his wife and that I'm having an affair lol. I've had family (if you can even call them that) gossiping/murdering, us saying/ask if we're on drugs, alcoholics, hitting, molesting my children and even went as far as asking my children those questions as well. They truly can't see how evil they are and then wonder why I'm low contact with them, hmmm. The things the top ministers are doing behind closed doors would blow a normal church up however I think the lack of education/emotional intelligence is missing so they probably wouldn't get the gravity of the problem.

Eli, I have watched your videos for sometime and really enjoy them. I had learned sometime back of the Amish losing a lot of their younger generations because they see the inconsistency in the Amish beliefs and communities.
The Amish are heavily involved in my occupation which is fruit and vegetable farming. I am curious to know or confirm if the Amish pay income tax or any taxes to the US government as do other American citizens.
