- This vlog is about Unawatuna and everything in this area. That means Sri Lankan turtles, great and not so great beaches and let's not forgot the famous Instagram swing! We're showing you everything the way it is, and trust me, you want to watch until the end!
Beaches: Talpe Beach, Jungle Beach Unawatuna, Unawatuna Beach and Dalawella Beach.
Turtle Hatchery: The turtle hatchery was in Habarabana. Please be aware that there are a lot of turtle hatcheries in Sri Lanka that are just purely a business. We've heard other stories of our friends who went to other hatcheries where people would pick up huge turtles out of the water just for a selfie before putting them back, and doing this repeatedly during the day. We've looked at all of them and felt the most comfortable with this hatchery and they explained us a lot about the turtles. Although we know never to touch turtles in the ocean, we were told to just pick up the baby turtles and softly drop them onto the sand so they could find their way into the ocean, which they did. As they have been doing this for ages, we trust this way of releasing baby turtles. Just our two cents.

So which beach would you recommend in Sri Lanka? We're going in Jan. I saw your Pasikudah video and loved the views, the problem is that in January, rains are almost guaranteed in North East, so I think we had better hit the South? Which one though - can you recommend something? We're a fam of 3, not looking for bustling nightlife - we're after beautiful nature and nice weather. We really need to chill after a year of extremely hard work...
We just visited this hatchery today, such a nice place, was worried about going to a place that had tourists handling but this seemed pretty safe 👌🏼great videos and Instagrams too guys!

Dear Margaret, what a wonderful comment, we both have a smile on our face because of that! We've started only 4.5 months ago and we feel we're learning a lot everyday and we actually have so much fun doing it. We certainly hope as well to be able to reach more videos, to inspire more people to travel and to also grow We Wander Asia. 😊 Drone laws are everywhere but they are constantly changing and often not everyone is up to date. For us it is important to know that we can fly the drone well and that we're never near airports or religious building where you can get into trouble. We've recently only had a request to put the drone down in Galle (at the Dutch fort) which we immediately that and everything was fine. So I think the key is to have respect for everybody and make sure to fly in safe areas, hope that helps!
