I lost my aunt by the Tsunami when I was 4. She lived in Matara with her family and her husband and two sons were lucky enough to save their lives. You have a good heart Lucie. Thanks for showing the things that we went through as Sri Lankans.

Hey Lucie, i started seeing your videos from the recommendation of other youtuber Jesi vlogs. There onwards i started seeing both of your videos when i get time. I 'm from southern india, place called tamil nadu(very close to srilanka). You said in one of your previous video that you don't want to go back to london and do the same routine job that you were supposed to do! That statement was true.. To live a life as per our wish is great thing. I'm planning to visit SL next year, will definitely visit your recommended places and jesi vlog's places with my family. However nice to see the beach i grew up- reminding me soo many memories.

Lucie i can so relate to your words i felt in love with this beautiful island in 1999, when it got hit by tsunami and the bombing is was like a peace of me was been attacked now corona is seperating my bf and myself for beein together at mama sri lanka. This video is not bad or upsetting it's reality as you say that's life there are ups and dows... Hi Lucie thanks very much for another great video.. you are a person with golden heart that’s why you feel agony of others and you feel emotional about people who lost in 2004 tsunami. I am 1000% agree with you about environmental harm you highlighted. There is a designated costal conservation authority in Sri Lanka and they are just jerks doing nothing about those harmful constructions destroying the cost.. Hikkaduwa was a tourist paradise once but local people got greedy and tried more and more by making constructions in to the beach destroying its beauty and it is no longer a as popular destination any longer.. I am worried it’s going to happen to other beautiful beaches too. If those government people watch videos like yours that itself enough to them to think and act fast...

Im Sri Lankan and I totally agree with you.....some of these so called hotels are destroying the actual beach. Hikkaduwa used to be a very beautiful beach but now its getting messed up slowly. Mirissa is still new but it will also end up like Hikkaduwa if they dont protect the environment
Yes Mirissa is the same. I read many comments saying this before I arrived here, but it came as a shock to see it

Yes, Lahiru's aunty survived the tsunami, i've never spoken to her about it though as it is quite a difficult subject to bring up

Hey Lucie, There is massive deforestation happening in Sri Lanka at the moment with support of Sri Lankan government and authorities. People whoever talk against it gets death threats. Please support internationally to stop deforestation in Sri Lanka. Many wild life including elephants losing their natural habitat. Please help to spread this message 🙏

You should have tried the southern part of Hikkaduwa, 3 km south from there, and more. Its really peaceful there ☀️🌴 Or the snorkel area 400 metres north. You just swam outside the Hikka Tranz Hotel Beach , yes really touristy and to much buildings there 😊 Just an advice for your next visit to Hikkaduwa 💗

Sri Lankas history has been battered by wars and natural disasters. Since 1970 we've had 3 uprisings and many natural disasters Tsunami being the main natural disaster. 2010 to 2020 decade was the most peaceful decade in Sri Lanka in like 50 years.

@@whereslucie hi I have been informed the best option is if you want to concentrate on poor children go to the nearest big temple and speak to the head priest and tell him you would like to help children to pass on your knowledge.
However if you want to teach rich kids in Colombo you need to contact British Council in Alfred place Colombo.

Some locals eat turtles. Thats why there is a sanctuary for turtles. These men may have killed and eaten the turtle when people left the beach. Locals also sadly kill and eat thalagoya lizards. They are an extremely shy and gentle lizard and it is so sad locals eat them 🙁😡
