Why Hikkaduwa is our Favourite Beach Town in Sri Lanka!

- In our opinion, Hikkaduwa is the best beach town in Sri Lanka. And that's saying something, because Sri Lanka has many incredible beach towns! When we think about the best beach towns in Sri Lanka, we think about the best accommodations, best restaurants, best night life, best beaches, and we want a town with lots to do! Hikkaduwa has all of these things, and the laid back vibe is the cherry on top.
In this video we take you to some of our favourite spots in Hikkaduwa including Hikkaduwa beach, Sea Salt Society, the place to see wild sea turtles, and the best accommodation in Sri Lanka, Banana Leaf. One of the reasons we love Hikkaduwa so much is because that's where the Banana Leaf apartments are, and they are our favourite place in Sri Lanka to relax and make ourselves at home. Our dear friend and host at Banana Leaf, Amila, cooked us the most incredible Sri Lankan feast so we could share with you all what a home cooked Sri Lankan meal looks like! Sri Lankan food is some of our favourite in the whole world, and Amila's cooking is AMAZING! We are so spoiled to have the opportunity to eat Sri Lankan food with a local who has grown up cooking these incredible dishes.

Love it! The tropical vegetation, the roads and the beaches all reminds us so much of driving around rural Puerto Rico. Sri Lanka has definitely jumped WAY up on our bucket list!😊

Great video. For some reason that was not what I was expecting Sri Lanka to be like at all!! Add it to the list. BTW what did you do there for a month in lockdown? could you leave the hotel at all?
Oh good! We're so glad to show you how amazing Sri Lanka is 😊 We just enjoyed the pool, read lots of books, worked out, and cooked delicious food during lockdown! We weren't allowed to leave the property except to get groceries, so we were so thankful to be at Banana Leaf where we had a beautiful outdoor space and apartment. I think we would have gone a bit mad if we'd been stuck at a normal hotel!

Hello Nicole l am from Oman your channel is excellent and purposeful l would like to visit Sri Lanka soon.but what is hes situation in the country ?is petrol available in country?and the hotels opening up?
Hi there! Sri Lanka is a great place to visit right now. The hotels are open, restaurants are open, and all the tourist sites are open. As tourists we are able to access as much petrol as you need because the country really needs tourism. It would be a great choice to go soon 😊
U must go to Pasikuda and tricomalee beach
We won't be able to get there on this trip, but we were able to visit both beaches during our visit to Sri Lanka on 2021. We loved them both! We did some scuba diving in Trincomalee and it was amazing 🥰

We're not really sure about Colombo but there's a lot happening on the South Coast. Check Hikkaduwa or Weligama!

Around 100 USD a day minimum for 2, 40$ for 3 decent meals, 30$ , 20$ for gasoline, fuel or petrol in sri lankan way (if you get a scooter) 10$ just to make someone's day (optional) coz sri lanka is the most generous country in South Asia and 8th place in the world .
Sri Lanka is very friendly to those on a backpacker budget like we are! We were spending no more than 80 USD per day for two people including food, accommodation and transportation. Expect to pay a little more if you prefer more meals out than cooking on your own. Enjoy your trip!

I hated Hikkaduwa. People harass you constantly, nowhere to walk, boats on the beach with leaking gas and crazy bus drivers with no sidewalks. Don’t go. This video is misleading. There are better places in Sri Lanka
