Try this to fix no audio problem with Cloud Ready on your Chromebook

- If you've installed CloudReady you may have noticed you have issues with your audio. If you have this problem why not try the things I'll show you in this video.
I was unable to get it to work for my Toshiba Chromebook 2, but others have had success with other laptops.
I'll also show you an easy workaround, which will work for the Toshiba Chromebook 2.

I did it a long time ago so I don't remember exactly what I did, but installing cloudready I think corrupted the audio driver and I didn't figure it out until installing Kali on an SD card as a dual boot option and did something that I can't remember after that haha. It took a lot of googling and digging. And fixed the non functional volume buttons by creating new functions for them. It's possible to fix though and it still works now, I just haven't turned it on in over a year. Mine is a Dell Chromebook 11 though lol

As well as the missing audio, the trackpad driver in Cloudready is generic and glitchy on the Toshiba CB30-B-104. The cursor travels most of the way across the screen then stops, so you have to lift your finger and try to start moving it again. The same happens when scrolling a webpage. It is anything but smooth and annoying to use.
As far as sound is concerned, you can get sound via HDMI into a TV fine as well as bluetooth.
I think it's a driver issue - or lack of driver in Kernel 5.4xxx. I installed linux mint instead of cloudready on the same toshiba and like yours there is no audio from the speakers or sound jack. In the sound settings it references "dummy" audio so I think it is a driver issue. Neverware have just updated the kernel to 5.4.147 (mint 5.4.09) so it might now work or do so in future releases. For now I will keep using my bluetooth speaker but it just adds a bit more inconvenience.
Yes it's not the best but like you said Bluetooth works fine, which is a good thing.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Book Flex. I have the same problem on all Linux Distros. I found out that I have to write myself a few files and put them right to do the job as a sound driver. Because $am$ung it's not writing sound drivers for any others than Window$. It's just hard with these Chrome OS'es, because I think they are not that open source, so it's not that easy to just make some files.

I installed CloudReady on my Toshiba Chromebook 2. The audio doesn't work but my bluetooth earbuds do. Bluetooth is probably the best workaround for now. Too bad.
Yes, I think the Bluetooth option is the best bet.
I’ve actually installed cloud ready on two retired work devices. I lost the webcam on a MacBook Air and the trackpad on a very cheap celuron Lenovo. Weird

It will depend on your device, so I can't help with that. Try the up and down or left and right cursor keys when on that specific line.
This is the pitfall of Linux. Google is just riding the wave. Most dont want to learn Computer Terminal commands just to make something work that should just work.
