Here you will find all links for things you will need to complete your install.
If you are installing a double din (DVD player) you will need the Metra 95-6518B dash kit. If you are just installing a single din stereo, you will need the Metra 99-6518B dash kit. goo.gl/NyFKhs
You will also need an antenna adapter to adapt the universal antenna on the stereo, to the proprietary antenna cable on your truck. Metra 40-EU55 is the part, goo.gl/YpIUoG
You will also need a wiring harness, this is by far the hardest thing to find, and the most expensive piece of the puzzle. The part is made by Metra, this is their Axxess product model# XSVI-6523-NAV, this is the ONLY PART that will work. I had a shop try to convince me that another part from a different manufacturer would work, then I had them try and tell me that the Metra XSVI-6522-NAV would work, I PROMISE YOU IT WILL NOT.

You will need (only if you intend to use satellite radio in your truck, is a Sirius tuner, depending on where you go they can range from $45-$99. You don't need anything extra special, just get one. You don't need to run the antenna, just plug one end into your truck, and plug the other end into the antenna cable and you're good to go!

To control Netflix, Pandora, and access the videos and audio, you need to connect your iPhone or iPod to the deck using a Kenwood iPod video cable, there are a few different models out there. I am not exactly sure which one is the correct one since I am not able to use it with my iPhone 5.

No problem. What I am referring to is simply a tutorial on the process of getting the dash apart to even begin the install. Your tutorial in this video is great especially with what parts to get, but it does not show how you actually took your dash apart to do the install. In your video it simply explains about the parts and what you'll need, and skips to your dash already being apart. A step by step tutorial on the entire install process would be wonderful.
So just to inform everyone installing a Kenwood double din radio. The easiest way to bypass the parking brake is to actually just connect the brake wire to your wire harness ground. Really any ground will do. I also recommend using barrel connectors or bell caps when installing your radios. Tape should only be a temporary solution!

I've tested my yellow power and black ground and they are good but my red ignition wire has no power when I turn the key. Radio has not come on at all. Any ideas?
You will feel some resistance, but you will start to see it pulling away from the vehicle. There are just some simple retaining clips holding on the dash. Pull gently and evenly on all sides, top to bottom. It will come off fairly easily.
There are a few parts in your tutorial where you explain where to mount the mic and that you will need to do some cutting for a dual din, but the rest of the process seems to be skipped. The main thing I am looking for is a step by step on getting the stock radio out. I know from experience that finding out where certain screws are that need to be taken out or what pieces simply pop out without screws can be difficult, and knowing what pieces need to be removed can be difficult as well.

How easy is it to install the backup cam into a ram? Would imagine you’d need to run the cable thru the floor and under the bed to get it to be near the license plate
I had to tie yellow and red wire together and go to 12v supply. Couldn't find a accessory switched 12v wire. Anyone know what I'm missing here?

in the harness of the xsvi-6523-nav, there are two 12 pin connectors one labeled as “SWC HARNESS” and the other with 12 wires, in which one does the black box connects to? i’m lost and need your help ☹️

What do you connect the blue wire to off the after market plug in antenna its not shown where to connect in your video
So I bought the adapter you suggested exact same part number. Truck I have is a ram 2013 as well. The part doesn't seem to fit into my cord that goes into the antenna. Any ideas
any idea why my radio keeps turning on and off? in the instructions from metra it says to initiate it by turning ignition on for 30 seconds and then off and back on again. i tried this and it did not work.
If I buy just the tuner for the Satellite radio will my factory satellite antenna work? I have a 2015 Ram 1500.

i have seen some cigarette plug type usb ports that sometimes just replace the ones on the armrest which you can plug right into aftermarket stereo
Mike Herns this kind works with Bluetooth but if you like auxiliary is on the back of the radio
On the very top, like on the top of your dash you will see a little plastic/rubber piece that lays in a slot that you would put pens in. It has a Dodge emblem. Using your finger, remove that plastic piece and under neath you will see two screws.
Your dash kit has instructions as well if you get lost! You will need to cut out the separating spacer (metal piece) in the back, you will see it when you get your factory stereo out. You just need to un screw 4 screws to remove the original stereo, and you will use the same screws to put the new stereo back in.

the wiring harness just plugs in to factory harness then splice aftermarket harness to new plug and that is it. or do I need anything else.

Does you SiriusXM still work? If so can you reuse the Sirius Antenna that is installed on the truck, with an adapter such as the SiriusXM SXV200v1 or is the connection proprietary also.
Questions! I found the exact wiring harness connector to install my aftermarket stereo it’s a Chinese one from Amazon I ran into same issue the antenna adapter and fm plug and the other one those 3 I cannot get connected to my 2015 ram 1500 so little info on this so far thanks for help! But where do you find the antenna adapter for my year and what do I do with the other two cables or adapters?
I also couldn’t get power unless I tapped it into a yellow wire but that gave it constant power even when shutting off the truck

You never mentioned in the video where you connected the reverse wire, I have the same year truck and I cant figure out what color wire I need to connect the violet reverse wire too
John Nivens I just did this about 10 minutes ago, the directions on the harness said to plug it to the green/violet. I can’t test it until tomorrow morning but hopefully it helps.

John Nivens the green/violet is on the axxess harness, you will then connect that to the violet/white etc. from your head unit.

Unfortunately it did not work for my 2018, it’s only god for 2013-2017. If you have a 2018 and up you will need the maestro Rr and Ch3 which are a little better made but a PITA since you have to program the module online.

I am assuming you are talking about the USB and the 3.5mm audio jack that come out of the same port on the back of the stereo? That is for an iPod cable which I cover in the description at the very bottom, I cannot post links here.
With this cable, you can connect an ipod or iphone to access your music, pandora, and netflix which play on the screen of the dvd player.

axxessinterfaces has a micro USB to USB adapter allows you to retain USB in armrest if you have USB in on your new head unit.

Do you retain the use of the USB connector in the arm rest?
Remove those two screws, you will need a star type attachment for a screw driver, I think they call it a Torx bit. Remove those screws and that's it as far as hardware. Then, starting at the top, use your hands to gently pull the dash away from the vehicle.

I do installes 4 a dealer u shuld put some wire ties on thoes wires u taped so the heat wont make them slide

Did your truck have the back up camera in the rear view mirror? And if so did you still have it after you installed the double din?
I did not have a backup camera equipped in my truck. From what I understand, you should have just had another set of RCA connectors coming out of your dash compartment which you would then plug into the other AUX input on your new deck.
Would it still work if I go with a single din instead of double?

regarding the cable that is in your glove box. So does that mean that it is not wireless? you cant stream Pandora or make phone calls with out your cell phone being plugged in?? I just ordered everything from this video except I got last years model the ddx371 and it came with the reverse cam and Sirius xm kit. Great video I will use it as im hooking mine up next week. I just wanted to know if your phone had to be plugged up to the cord for you to access your phone from the stereo.

With the way I installed mine, you do lose the arm rest usb but I don't know about the audio in jack. On the vehicle side, when you remove the old deck there is a mini USB connector that doesn't have anywhere to go in a new universal stereo deck. I didn't even think about it when I installed y stereo. I imagine you could get an adapter and connect the car side USB (mini USB) to the USB cord that comes out of the new deck.
rhender777 no the adapter doesn't fix it, you need some stupid expensive maestro USB chip that will allow you to use it

Also, can you put a video up of the Kenwood playing a DVD for us to see what it looks like? I'm trying to decide between that model and the DDX771 cause it is about $60 cheaper. THANKS!

Don't ever buy anything from Best Buy. Crutchfield provides plug/play harnesses for any stereos & speakers they sell. Well worth it.

Having same issues starting to lose my mind. Connected red yellow black and it won't turn on. Can only see a flashing red light inside. Where did you connect the red? I have a 2015 ram
