Keynote speech by Prof. Noortje Marres (University of Warwick), delivered on 6 October 2022 at PBL-TIAS seminar ‘Integrated assessment for environmental policy in the ‘post-truth’ society’. Prof. Marres’ speech, titled ‘Why we still can’t have our facts back’, focused on the changing nature of contested knowledge, suggesting we may also be seeing ‘contentious’ knowledge. In this case, rather than disagreement about a particular truth claim, the contemporary scientific knowledge culture itself is being challenged.
